Design Wall Monday- Mystery Link-up week 1 --November 30, 2015

Today is the last day of November. 

It's been an eventful month.

Not as much stitching as I wished for, but

When the Quiltville Mystery starts...

I'm ready to sew.

Clue 1 was pretty easy, 

once I got my grey pre-washed, that is.

All trimmed and put in sets of 10.

I finished trimming while I watched QuiltCam.

I will need to make a few extra, 

I shouldn't have stacked so many fabrics when I was cutting them.

 Some hsts weren't quite the size I need.

To cut I got another 

Easy Angle ruler. 

I know I have the bigger one somewhere.

This is what 294 hsts look like all chained together. 

I counted to 10 and clipped between the chain stitching to make it easier to press.

My grandson would have loved using my gypsy cutter on all of these hsts.

I need to pre-wash my reds so I am ready when Bonnie gives the clue that uses red.

My other colors are already pre-washed.

I hesitate to pre-wash the fat quarters.  

BUT, I dare not take a chance on them...

Maybe I should make some in another color, just for fun today.

Sew n Tell Saturday

I knew I'd made a few more 1930 Farmer's Wife Blocks to share this week.

 Had to use the Roosters for this one.

I'm glad so many of the stories relate that playing with your children is such a good thing to do.

Taking time to enjoy the little things life hands you.

Patience was a fun one to find fabrics for.

Life isn't always lolly pops and roses - is it? 

Those pinwheels looked like lolly pops to me.

Patricia is pretty in pink and yellow.

I have 2 blocks I still need to make then I will have all of them so far.

I forgot to post yesterday, did you miss me?

DH and I had a "White Friday" cleaning at the Columbia River Temple.

We forgot to make an appointment for a session so I did do a little bit of "Black Friday" shopping.

Most of my shopping is all done now!  

I went downtown and did a little Shop Small Saturday and Cyber Shopping too.

More Secret Christmas sewing and mailing of packages is left to do this week.

Wednesday- waiting for the Mystery

While I wait for the Quiltville Mystery I try to keep myself BUSY.

The last Block of the Week for 2015 was chosen and it was an easy one.

My Hatchet

I have hopes of getting the blocks all made for this quilt in the next year.

the eq file makes it nice to balance the colors.

I  got some "grandma" time in between also.  

It's so nice to have the one on one time with my grandchildren.

Then my DD#2's Husband took me to lunch.

That never happened before.

I didn't brave the roads with the WHITE STUFF!

I'd rather HIDE in the basement.

Last night I made a PIE!

And what's a Pie without the Cream that comes from the Milk Cow?

DH made fun of the cow's udder.

He should know, we used to have a Milk Cow on the Farm.

My semi-local children have made plans to join us for Dinner tonight.

I'm so Grateful for my blessings!  

I count these beautiful people part of my choicest ones.

I wouldn't have these blessings without the choices I made so many years ago.

Design Wall Monday- November 23, 2015

I picked up some of my fabrics for the Mystery on Fat Quarter Friday.

I chose a single fabric for the Grey and Gold.

I need to add more to the neutral and find my Blacks.
Bring on the FUN, Bonnie!!

My 1930's Blocks so far

Every once in a while I need to see how my colors are working together.

I can see the need for more contrast in my blocks. 

The ones that have good contrast I like the best.

My class was a success again on Saturday.  

No pictures of future Christmas Gifts were taken.

I'm making progress on my gifts to be done.  

The ornaments are all made and I can reveal them soon. 

I have children who decorate the day after Thanksgiving.

So I'll give them to the families this week when we are together for Paul &
My 39th Anniversary.

December will be here before we know it.

My Vacation Time Quilt Top is DONE!

I love how the border frames it perfectly.

Meanwhile in the Quilt ZONE...

The Bow Tie Quilt is half way done being quilted.

 Betsy is skipping stitches now that I tried to restart it.  So frustrating! 

I really need that Lucey machine that 

APQS is offering. 

Time to do something else & try again later.

Wednesday- Pre-Mystery Link- up

Thanks to Jo and Kelly who keep showing us what they've been working on HERE.

I haven't been as productive in the QUILT ZONE as I've wanted.

Today I'm changing that!

The Bow Tie Quilt is going on "Betsy".

I had to resort to a Quick Finish so I can play along.

When Betsy decided she wasn't going to play nice and sat idle for a month.

Grand Illusion was pinned on but I don't want to try and re-load that one.

I know I have many other projects calling to me but today I need to Quilt!!!

I have my Paint Chip cards, but haven't selected any fabrics for the Mystery.
That can wait!

Design Wall Monday & 1930's FW Linkup- 11-16-15

I'm not caught up totally but I'll catch up soon..

I made Milly and Margaret this week.

I noticed the Bingo blocks and I hadn't made my #1 Addie.

It got made just in time for me to be part of the Bingo!

 The cow had to be centered in this one because of the story.

Most of my week was spent getting ready for my Quilt Class at Sew n Vac.

I had 4 signed up when I got there.

  One person put the wrong date on his calendar so he'll come next week.

Two of the others plan to come back to make more and learn the Binding tricks.

It was a fun class!  Long but Fun.

We played with Fussy Cuts and Basic 9-Patch tricks and tips.

Everyone was at a different level.

With permission here are my 3 students.

The 9- patches in this one had a fussy-cut center block.

She loved that fussy- cut rose so much she had to buy another yard to cut out some more.

We learned where that 1/4" line is and how to get the most from a Seahawks Print.

 I can't show the finished products now...Christmas is coming- you know!

I like seeing the different colors and putting things on-point.

I told them Bonnie Hunter says, "Show me your Block on your 'Design Wall'."

They were good and played along!

I had hoped to get the borders on my Vacation time or the Guild A-Z quilt but it didn't happen.

Wyoming-Idaho-Utah Roadtrip

A week ago we were in Wyoming!

It was a wild day of driving on Thursday through snow at Tollgate.

We saw a deer starting to cross the road when I zoomed in on this picture.

Ending with snow through the Palisades area into Wyoming.

6" or so fell through the night.

We made a stop in Boise for my Favorite Taco Time!

 Next it was on to Rupert, just because...

The Gathering Place has re-arranged and added a 2nd Gammill to quilt for their Customers.

I asked if they had any "Beach-y" looking fabrics right away to make the stop less time consuming.

I was directed to the landscapes then the Blues where I found this Kona Bay fabric.

It has a feel of the sea shells on the water.  

I deemed it Perfect for my Vacation Time Quilt!

I had to buy their Licence plate and pattern since it is NOVEMBER and they are for sale.

I tried not to delay our trip anymore than necessary.

A stop at Hancock's & Micheal's in Idaho Falls and I was ready to get to Wyoming.

The snow started as it got dark and we drove very slow through Swan Valley.

Here are all the Goodies I brought home. 

While in Wyoming we got to watch our Son; Brant, Coach his 7th graders Basketball Team.

We went a little early to walk around Jackson Hole.

 Not much was open so window shopping was in order.

The main reason for the Road trip was Saturdays' Baptism of our Grandson.

Welcome to the Newest Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

The Confirmation happened right after so we decided to leave and take a side trip to Salt Lake City.

My Sister needed the Quilt I brought and we wanted to go to the Music and the Spoken Word.

The GPS took us over the mountains crossing the Idaho, Utah & Wyoming borders. Evanston,Wyoming was our place to Fill up with fuel again. The cheapest fuel we found was $1.98.

Paul kept teasing that we could hang around until Tuesday since he didn't have to be back to work.

There were many people milling around on Sunday afternoon on Temple Square.

We even saw a Bride and Groom getting their Photos taken by the fountain.

I couldn't leave before going to see the Newly renovated LDS Church Museum

We got there early and watched the panoramic film of the 1st Vision.

So Cool.  Almost like being in the Sacred Grove!

The wall of Nativities was definitely a photo op.

It was a great trip as we raced the storms home through the day.

Quilt Guild Time

I though it was fitting to make this block - even if it has the dreaded Paper Piecing!!!

I know there are guild members who enjoy it.

I am so grateful for the Guild and all who attend.
We have added many new Members this year.  We have 115 now!

I really Missed going last month.

I even had a block made to show.

 I changed it and combined the tiny squares and cut a 4-1/2" square instead.

I did sew & flip corners on the background ones in the center.

I liked it better that way, but didn't want to have to explain and make a handout to show how.
