for sponsoring this event for National Quilt Month.
I'll try to post something Quilty each day this month on Instagram following the fun IG prompts.

My Preparation day is the day I try to Quilt.
Not every P-Day is a Quilty one.
Some days I go with my Companion to run errands or explore.
I have grown to love this place and the people I serve with.
We'll miss the Hurt's Donut, Culver's, Christy Creme, La Mesa, Tussey's and Menards.
Just 18 weeks more until I get back to my Real-life.
Grandma's Quiltcamp will be announced soon!

I'm still working on my #grassycreekmystery
Maybe today I'll get a few more blocks added to the stack.
3 more are in the works.

Elder Crowther doesn't know what P-day means... he's outside doing what he does everyday.

Blogger's Quilt Festival- September 18, 2017

My Entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival has to be THIS Quilt!!
Linking up HERE
Can you tell I was happy to see that BIG Ribbon on it when I got to the Show on Saturday?
STASH gave me a $25 Gift Card to spend in their Shop.

Started in 2015 with the SAL (Sew-Along) over at Bee in my Bonnet and Fat Quarter Shop.
I looked forward to Farm Girl Fridays!  tagging #farmgirlfridays and #fqsfun
Some  weeks I made more than one version.
The Alphabitties are SO Necessary, and just fun to use for the Photo ops.
After the SAL, Lori Offered more blocks as downloadable patterns at FQS.
I had to add the Cow and Pig and the Piece of Pie with the Fork.

This Quilt has recieved many, many looks and compliments.
It was awarded the Quilt Chair Ribbon back in March.
The  WW Fair Quilt Judge liked it and gave it "Best of Show" in August.
I'm so glad Lori says, "You are the BOSS of your Quilt"

I have met Lori a couple of times now.
This is US at Quilt Market in Salt Lake City last year.

Blogger's Quilt Festival time- Original Design

AmysCreativeSide.com

It's time to Link up for the next Blogger's Quilt Festival.
I've participated in the Spring and Fall Blogger's Quilt Festival during Quilt Market since Amy called her Blog 'Park City Girl' in 2009
I wanted a Brand NEW quilt but the quilting didn't get done as planned.

I had a couple of New 'Original Designs' this year.
I have 4 New Patterns. It's hard to choose just one.

"Through the Hourglass"

This Quilt was designed in EQ7.
I LOVE being able to say I made this one ALL Myself!!!
I wanted to use some Bonus triangles I had from another quilt.
I was making blocks for another pattern and this Design just took over.
The Border fabric was my inspiration for the Color Scheme.
I notice My colors match the Blogger's Quilt Festival LOGO!
I spent a half day cutting all the Strips and Squares, it seemed.

I learned a LOT in the making of this quilt.
I had to figure out how to make the stripes all go in the same direction.
Tips on how to do that are written into the Pattern.
The outside strips are added to the blocks with a Partial seam.

Here it is all quilted
[I spent a few days un-Quilting on the last row, it didn't measure how it should]
The design stitched much smaller than I thought it should be.
I wanted to use a "modern" quilting design.
The stitching is only 1/4" between.
I'll have to try it again on a different smaller quilt.

Here it is in the Window downtown waiting for the class this Saturday, May 16th

Quilt Stats:
Quilt Name- "Through the Hourglass"
Finished Quilt Size- 60" x 82"
Quilt Top size (before quilting) 66" x 88"
Designed, Pieced and Quilted by Mary Crowther aka: Quiltin'Grandma
Batting- Mountain Mist
Quilting Design- 'Amazing" Continuous
Started- January 29, 2015

Here I am with my finished quilt AND the pattern designer- BONNIE HUNTER!
The highlight of my Year thus far has been going to the Quiltmaker Block Party in Portland, OR.   You can read more about it at the link.   Meeting Bonnie has been on my Bucket list for a couple years.  I worked on this quilt even while I was on a vacation, visiting my DD#2 and her family in Colorado.  I used my Daughter's machine while I was there and watched Bonnie on QuiltCAM.  I am so glad that I was able to go and meet the Quiltmaker people in Colorado at the Quiltmaker offices in Golden and see them again in Portland. I couldn't stop smiling that whole 3 days. I slept under it in the hotel and it is on my bed today.  I changed my version by not making all the blocks. The two alternating blocks have 77 and 69 pieces in them. I added the gray and Purple for the Borders to tone down all the GREEN. Bonnie called the Purple fabric; the 'eternal swirl'.  I have it in several colors in my Stash.
This was the 2012 Mystery at Bonnie's Blog.  quiltville.com .

Amy over HERE is hosting the link-up for the 2013 Blogger's Quilt Festival right now.  May 17th-31st.
The Spring Quilt Market is in Portland happening while we Blog Hop and enjoy this Blogger's Quilt Festival.
