Can you say Squirrel?

 I have start-i-tus again.
The 2022 RBD Block Challenge called to me.
The first three Blocks are finished.

"Daisy Chain"
#beeinmybonnet
Lori Holt

"Sweetheart"
#Flamingotoes
Kristy Lea

"Autumn Leaf"
#Quietplaydesigns
Bev McCullough

I don't have the Confetti Cottons in my area, so I'm using my Stash. The colors aren't as good but I'm trying to keep the contrast the same.

I played thread chicken and Won. My Bobbin ran out before the top thread, lol.
How long will my next spool of Aurifil Last?
I think I'll write the date on it to see.

Next Month the 4th Block will be by Jill Finley.
HERE is a list of all the Designers.

I should be doing a Block count again this year. I've made quite a few just in January.
I have a few more Bird Blocks I want to make.
I've taken inspiration from a friend photos of Birds on Facebook.
I want to make a Parakeet, a Parrot, and a few more Blue Birds.

I ordered and received my Flea Market Book by Lori Holt from Fat Quarter Shop.
I have a lot of Lori Holt fabric in my Stash so this will be a fun way to use some of it up.

We had a fun Linger Longer this week.
I had the idea to do a Muffin bar with fresh fruit, Chocolate Milk and juice.

We made a couple dozen each of Blueberry, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, Raspberry and Blackberry Jam, Banana, Lemon Poppyseed, Morning Glory and Cranberry-Orange.
Next time I'll make Double Chocolate Chip.
My plain Chocolate Chip ones didn't turn out so well.
I used my Collection of Baskets to serve them with labels in front.
I brought most of mine home. I'll freeze a few for later.

Turning Another Year Older

This is me, eating a Homemade German Chocolate piece of cake.
Had to make it myself and add a candle.
Lots of Flowers, Calls, Texts and Mailed greetings for me this year.
2 years on the Mission I missed being with family.
Our youngest DD and her 2 sons went to dinner with us and brought me this new outfit in the photo.

I spent the day doing what I wanted mostly.
Played a bit of Quilt Yoga with the Quiltville Mystery.
Hubby asked if I liked PINK??
Thought of going with a straight setting.
I'll definitely make my sashings a little wider than the pattern.
I'd need a lot more of the alternate blocks.
Here's half on Point with the alternate Blocks I've made so far.
I'll work on the setting triangles and sashings next week.
I couldn't find my Portable Design wall today so I had to clear the floor.

Fun book I borrowed from our Quilt Guild Library this week.
I was the only Birthday in attendance.
"Happy Birthday, Dear Quilter", they sang.

These two CD's came in the mail this week.
New from Donny and Marie!!!

This beautiful handmade card came from Omaha!
Thanks to Sister Pat Bennett!!
I love the sentiment -"Precious and few, are friends like you"
I miss the people from the Mission, but not being away from family.
My week was busy with Quilt Guild, a Dental appointment to fix a broken tooth and a trip to the eye Doctor to have an eyelash taken out of my lower lid, it was poking my cornea.

I'll leave you with this pretty Photo I took of the Temple this week.

Baggie Challenge

Janet O over  HERE at RogueQuilter on the side bar.
Has a Baggie Challenge going.
I wasn't going to join but after sewing Bonus Tiny Triangles into fun blocks...
I changed my mind and went looking for my Baggies of cut-off bonus triangles.
I pulled them all out and thought I'd find some more with Pink in them.

This baggie fit the challenge
Stuffed full of Cut-offs from a Quiltville Mystery and saved in a baggie for now.
I had to do a search to find out which Mystery had Hot Pink and Black in it.

It was Grand Illusion in 2015-16
I remember those diagonal flippy corners, they were endless!

I dumped out and started stitching the Pink ones, sorting out the black ones for later.
How many would you guess??
What will all of these cute PINK/White HSY's become???
Pressing, trimming and counting to be done while I watch Hallmark tonight.
Watch and see...

Then, I stitched up the Black ones and cut them apart counting to 10.
it's easier to press them when they are in sets.
160 + 8 still on the machine.

I stitched the rest of my Block A's before Friday, YEA!
Not without using the Frogger, Jack, the ripper a few times!

DONE Pile!

Part 7 has us stitching Block B
Lots of fun neutrals to play with in these blocks.
My Blocks all need a good pressing.
Can you see the Goat?
Zodiak animal for January- Capricorn.
I'm trying to use up that crazy directional neutral on the right.

I used it in my Pat Sloan 2016 BOM "My Secret Garden"
I changed it to a Beach theme.
"Let's Go to the Beach".

There is still over a yard, I can't remember what I bought it for or where???
It takes a lot of my OCD tendencies to line it up the same in a block.
I never thought of myself as OCD!

Happy Stitching Saturday"
I have spent many days this week inside and have not once been bored.
A little "Squirel-ly" but never bored.

One week until it's my 65th Birthday.
I'm officially OLD!
Signed up for Medicare even.

New Year's Day 2022

It's a New Years Day like no other.
We had planned to gather at Joe and Kori tonight.
Covid in their house put an end to that plan.
Their Christmas will have to wait.
That means I still can't share what WE made for the Family gifts this year.

No Crowther Cousin gathering like we had 3 years ago.
That was the day before we left for Utah and the MTC before going to Omaha.
So much has happened since then.

My New Year's eve was like most years...
We did make a trip out to get Milk and some reading glasses for Paul.
He had cataract Surgery last Tuesday.
DD#2 arranged to take him and bring him back home after so I didn't have to drive the snowy roads.
We have a little over a foot in our back yard and piled around.

Thanks to our neighbor across the street who said to use their Snow Blower.
I watched the Ball/Music Note drop in Nashville though.
NYC wasn't even on my agenda without Dick Clark.

I always like to spend my New Year's eve sewing on the Quiltville Mystery.
I was up into the wee hours finishing the Hourglass and Flying Geese Blocks in case we needed them.
The part 6 meant assembly of Block A!
A little different this year. I got 4 blocks done so I could post them online.

I love how they fit together so well. I didn't do much trimming of my HST's or the
Part 5 Block that is the corners.

I wore the socks, like the ones I got at our guild exchange, with a couple of Christmas FQ's,
Red & Green Glide Thread.

After I dot the 4 Blocks done I sorted through my directional connector blocks and
got them oriented the right way. OCD much?? I think so.
There will be some of it turned wrong in the HST's of the Blocks.
This is a directional fabric I will be happy to be rid of!  Still have a bunch though.

I spent the week hours pressing and playing with the Bonus Triangles from Part 5.
If I don't play with them now they will just go into the drawer or a ziplock bag.
I had an idea...
Remember these tiny HST's that my friend, Noel helped trim and press at the WW Fair??

Pam Buda had us make blocks for a sew Along way back in 2013
These are a few of those blocks.

I wanted to do them in the Pinks.
The Clapper really helps the blocks to lay flat.
My jar of Dog Ears is almost full.

Then I played with my Bird Blocks.
I didn't have a Yellow Canary...
See it in the top left corner?

These 2 went under the needle and before I knew it I was still up, again, at 3 am.
I don't know what they are but they will make my Birdie Quilt more interesting for sure.
Thanks to Riley Blake for the Free Pattern.

I have to share the Early Birthday gift I received from Janet O.
She knows I like to Celebrate my birthday all Month long.
Thanks Janet!!!

And this is the gift from my Sister by Love, Anne!
NaDell delivered it on Christmas Day.
A Doorstop Post that got me thinking about a Word of the Year.
The scripture I posted today with it is
Psalms 33:20-22

Back to real life tomorrow. Church with the YSA and Homemade Bread
to go with the soups for Break the Fast.
