Roadtripping to Wyoming

Elizabeth and Olivia joined us for a 

Quick trip to Wyoming 

We left early on Friday morning

 

We stopped at Chick-fil-a and Kneaders on the way.

Yummy food and fun to take a groupie by the Christmas Tree at Kneaders.

Saturday was Oliver's Baptism. 

The 4 older Cousins went to the Star Valley Temple 

Saturday morning. 

They met us at Thayne Stake Center for the Baptism

We love getting Before and after pictures.

And of course a picture with the Cousins.

We enjoyed our short time, it was cold!

        I made some Caramel Popcorn for a treat      

We decided to go home on Sunday, driving in as much daylight as possible.

It was a nice trip and we are resting.

One week and 2 Days until Thanksgiving.

Wyoming-Idaho-Utah Roadtrip

A week ago we were in Wyoming!

It was a wild day of driving on Thursday through snow at Tollgate.

We saw a deer starting to cross the road when I zoomed in on this picture.

Ending with snow through the Palisades area into Wyoming.

6" or so fell through the night.

We made a stop in Boise for my Favorite Taco Time!

 Next it was on to Rupert, just because...

The Gathering Place has re-arranged and added a 2nd Gammill to quilt for their Customers.

I asked if they had any "Beach-y" looking fabrics right away to make the stop less time consuming.

I was directed to the landscapes then the Blues where I found this Kona Bay fabric.

It has a feel of the sea shells on the water.  

I deemed it Perfect for my Vacation Time Quilt!

I had to buy their Licence plate and pattern since it is NOVEMBER and they are for sale.

I tried not to delay our trip anymore than necessary.

A stop at Hancock's & Micheal's in Idaho Falls and I was ready to get to Wyoming.

The snow started as it got dark and we drove very slow through Swan Valley.

Here are all the Goodies I brought home. 

While in Wyoming we got to watch our Son; Brant, Coach his 7th graders Basketball Team.

We went a little early to walk around Jackson Hole.

 Not much was open so window shopping was in order.

The main reason for the Road trip was Saturdays' Baptism of our Grandson.

Welcome to the Newest Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

The Confirmation happened right after so we decided to leave and take a side trip to Salt Lake City.

My Sister needed the Quilt I brought and we wanted to go to the Music and the Spoken Word.

The GPS took us over the mountains crossing the Idaho, Utah & Wyoming borders. Evanston,Wyoming was our place to Fill up with fuel again. The cheapest fuel we found was $1.98.

Paul kept teasing that we could hang around until Tuesday since he didn't have to be back to work.

There were many people milling around on Sunday afternoon on Temple Square.

We even saw a Bride and Groom getting their Photos taken by the fountain.

I couldn't leave before going to see the Newly renovated LDS Church Museum

We got there early and watched the panoramic film of the 1st Vision.

So Cool.  Almost like being in the Sacred Grove!

The wall of Nativities was definitely a photo op.

It was a great trip as we raced the storms home through the day.

Too much Grandma & Grandpa Fun- Many PIcs

On the 21st of November-Paul and & I took our car loaded with "stuff" and travelled over the Snake River several times and into the woods of Alpine Wyoming. 

We can drive very FAST in Idaho, just a bit of snow on the side of the road. 

It has become a tradition to take an Aniversary trip.  

This time there was an even better reason.

We needed to meet our #20 Grandchild and deliver his "Little Buckaroo" Quilt.

In our Church the Children practice and learn new songs all year to prepare for a 

Special Primary Program.

This year we have attended all of our Grandchildren's Programs in

 Richland, Kennewick and now in Wyoming!

It' s my favorite Sunday of the year.  

We spent 9 wonderful days with Brant and Tina, who Blogs HERE

These three cuties had extra time with Grandpa while the big boys were in school.

This is how my DH spent our Anniversary.

Tina went outside to build snowmen with the little ones.

When the big boys came home there was time to read to them before bedtime.

They love books.

 I took my Bernina and my Serger so I could Sew while there.  

It wa my honor to make the Blessing outfit for the Blessing.

The only request was no slick fabric, my son didn't want to drop the baby... 

So... I made the pants from a knit and the shirt with vest attatched and bowtie sewn on

 from Kona/Moda cotton. I didn't add the collar this time, it just gets in the way.

 The little cuff at the bottom of the pants are so fun, they reminded me of 'M C Hammer' pants.

I had just a few assignments from Tina for Thanksgiving.

Make the Rolls, Cranberry sauce and my nearly famous Truffles.

Paul didn't really 'help' much except to spread the peanut butter on the crakers 

for the dipped cookies with sprinkles we like to make.

We needed to make a little side trip to get buttons for the outfit.  

Afton, Wy is a short drive, about 35 miles from Alpine.

The arch across main street is the largest antler arch made from the ELK's antlers.

After a short stop at Shopko we found the Fabric and craft store called "The Cottage".

The house quilt is their BOM from 2014.  I asked about getting the pattern.

They had some papers sitting there but the person in charge wasn't there to ask.

They were just for the various blocks inserted in each house, too. No directions for the House itself.

Our trunk was FULL with bags of clothes from Joe and Kori for Brant and Tina's family.

Here's one of the fleece jackets I made for Christmas a few years ago for the grandsons and dads.

Nice to see it getting used again.

Paul said he didn't have a Hat so I started making this one for him on the way and finished it  on our anniversary.  No pom pom on it yet.  It fits just right!

I wonder where his hat like this- that my MOM made for him is???

 The day before Thanksgiving we needed to go into Idaho to get the last minute supplies.

The only picture I have from the Thanksgiving Dinner is this one.

I handed my phone to Brant at the head of the table.

 Stuffing, rainbow Jell-o, sweet potato fries & dipping sauce, smashed potatoes (peels on), yummy gravy, Cranberries, Turkey,  Ham, Broccolli bacon salad, and my Delicious hot rolls with BUTTER!

For dessert there was Pumpkin, Dutch Apple Pie and a Homemade Chocolate Cheesecake with Strawberry sauce made by Brant's carpool friend; Jack, who joined us along with 

Tina's parents and little Brother.

The day after Thanksgiving, I made my two Mystery Blocks and worked on the blessing outfit ---

then we took another trip back to Idaho Falls to celebrate our 38th Anniversary.

Paul took a 10 mile sidetrip up the snowy road to show me where we used to go for our Waite Family Reunions at "big Piney Lodge.  It was slickbut I had to get out and have a pic taken and I took pics of the BIG slide we had so much fun on in the 1980's.

                     We got a hotel room with a view of the Idaho Falls Temple. Room # 38

Part of our Celebration was spent by attending the Temple and "The Forgotten Carols.

I got Michael McLean's autograph on my program.  No Pic :(

I bought the CD so I can listen to it again and again. SHHH don't tell DH,lol

We did some Black Friday shopping to gather more materials for the Grandchildren ornaments I make each year. This year Grandpa got to help glue them together.

The room was very nice and had a table to work on.

The bed was KING sized! 

My last years Mystery- "Celtic Christmas Solstice" went with us.

On the way home we saw these Elk right on the side of the road.

Paul remarked how clear the skies were, even with the all the snowstorms.  

Too much fun and excitement to share it all here.  

Brant gave Oliver a beautiful Blessing and I got to hold him most of the meeting. 

Singing the Christmas hymns and watching him looking straight at me. 

 My eyes just kept weeping, I was so emotional.

I didn't want to leave him!

The roads were predicted to be BAD Monday so we left right after Church.

My heart is Full to overflowing with gratitude for a safe trip and wonderful visit.
