It's Friday- I'm Sewing at Home!

We went to see the New Indiana Jones Movie with Roma and Gordon this week.

Gotta love a Matinee with not many watching and

 a full bucket of buttery popcorn.

And staying for the Credits!

I had to see if it was the same actress who was in one of the 1st Indiana Jones Movies.

It was Karen Allen.

Turning Another Year Older

This is me, eating a Homemade German Chocolate piece of cake.

Had to make it myself and add a candle. 

Lots of Flowers, Calls, Texts and Mailed greetings for me this year.

2 years on the Mission I missed being with family.

Our youngest DD and her 2 sons went to dinner with us and brought me this new outfit in the photo.

I spent the day doing what I wanted mostly.

Played a bit of Quilt Yoga with the Quiltville Mystery.

Hubby asked if I liked PINK??

Thought of going with a straight setting.

I'll definitely make my sashings a little wider than the pattern.

                                              I'd need a lot more of the alternate blocks.

Here's half on Point with the alternate Blocks I've made so far.

I'll work on the setting triangles and sashings next week.

I couldn't find my Portable Design wall today so I had to clear the floor.

Fun book I borrowed from our Quilt Guild Library this week.

I was the only Birthday in attendance. 

"Happy Birthday, Dear Quilter", they sang.

These two CD's came in the mail this week.

I miss the people from the Mission, but not being away from family.

My week was busy with Quilt Guild, a Dental appointment to fix a broken tooth and a trip to the eye Doctor to have an eyelash taken out of my lower lid, it was poking my cornea.

Frosty Monday Morning means Sew Day!

Today was full of plans!

I was going to go to the December mtg

of the Tri-city Quilters Guild.

Then go watch our Zillah Grandson 

play Basketball.

Alas, Time at home is short and the roads are dicey.

A Sew Day, it is!

Part 3 of my Frolic Mystery is almost done.

I miscounted,  but can make the rest later.

I sliver trimmed them using the 

Simple Corners ruler. 

Gotta remove the Dog ears.

The weekend was Bittersweet, more Lasts... lots of hugs!

Friday started the weekend with our Ward Christmas Dinner...with pie judging.
I made 2 Pies!

Coconut cream and Elvis Pie.
The Elvis pie was gone first!
I had to taste a crumb off the pie plate.

I just added Chocolate,  Peanut butter
and Bananas.

Gonna miss my ladies!!

Design Wall Monday- November 10, 2014

Heres' my New Project for the week

I finally got the October NewFO, "Sheep Shape" die cut and laid out.

 I cut it out with the smaller set of the Half-Hexie Die. 

I havent' used my Go Cutter as much as I wanted to when I won it in the 

2011 McCalls Quilt Design Contest.

It will be a small but Fun quilt!

On the Family Side of my Life...

It was a busy week-end with many places to be on Saturday.

We started at the Columbia River Temple with our Neice, Stephanie

She's headed to serve a Mission in 2015 to Kentucky

 With her family (minus Lee)

and her Parents and 3 grands

and a couple friends from my hometown.

LONG week of frustration...trying to play the GLAD game

I've had the Viking "Betsy" in the house for a week now.  I quilted the little pink mini quilt and am not totally pleased with it but it will do for a dolly quilt in Grandma's toy box. 

I loaded a new quilt on to quilt it this week.  I chose my "Somewhere in Time".

 I want to quilt my "Celtic Christmas Solstice" and this one is close to the same so I could 

"test" a pattern and spacing on it.

I chose this Leaf Panto and set it to repeat about 10 times.  

I had to call and ask Terri how to get the pattern to connect continuously across. 

I went to reset the machine to start and the bobbin thread wouldn't come up right. 

The thread is catching up behind the bobbin case. UGGGG

 I called and went down to the store to ask about a "housecall" so I don't have to take it apart.  

I'm playing the waiting game now.  

I decided to play with my Stitching and got my 23 'honeycomb' blocks made for the Quilty Fun SAL.

That meant cutting 92 1 1/2" squares for all the flippy corners.

 As often happens - my SEWING and Quilting time is slightly and pleasantly interrupted by choice

 "Family Moments"

 These two handsome Young Men got to go to the Temple with their Ward. 

It was Seth's first time since turning 12.

They did the 20 family names that DH has found.

It was an honor to be able to be there with them.

I woke up this morning to call into the Radio Station for a Birthday grandson turning 6 in Richland.

He didn't win a cake but I hear he's having a party today with his friends.

I looked outside and saw big fluffy flakes falling on my house and sidewalks. 

Did the Birthday boy order this?

Well, the waiting continues and tomorrow is another day...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions on which quilt to put on "Betsy" and offers to take some of my scraps off my hands.  I'll be sending some to Dianne H. soon.

Dinner Date with my 8 year old DGS!

Yesterday was the day to take Colby to Dinner.  He turned 8 and I wanted to Celebrate it like I've done with his 4 older cousins. My Mother in law always said that the one on one time with her Grandchildren was the best of times.   I got up early to finish his Birthday Pillowcase. 

 I think he liked it.  He ran and put it on a pillow in his room right after this Picture.

 He had just gotten home from school.  The sports fabric was perfect for this grandson!

Colby chose to go to "Red Robin".  

They have Spaghetti that is Colby-safe without the Cheese on top. He also had the Steak Fries and two "Freckled Lemonades".  

This toothless grin says it all!

He ate and ate. 

He's a Growing boy. I was so glad I could get to know him a little better.

I learned all about how the Fantasy Football Team is going for him and his dad.  

After we ate, we went to the Church Bookstore to buy him a Journal and have his name put on it.

The last stop was at the Temple for a picture of him by the Sign.

We walked all the way around the Temple.  When he is 12 he can go inside, I told him.   

It was a wonderful day to go and spend extra time with him.

Thanks to his great parents for letting Grandma have her day.

Happy Birthday 8 year old...

On the occasion of my Grandchildren's 8th Birthday I have so far been able to take them out to eat and to take pictures at the Columbia River Temple.  Coy is the 4th of my 17 grandchildren to reach this milestone and today was his day. Our first stop was at the Temple since sundown was coming soon.  I had wait until Coy was home from school to go. My Mother -in-law always said the 'one on one' time with the grandchildren was the BEST!  I have to agree.

His mother warned me that she was not responsible for where he would ask to go...He likes seafood and Grandma DOES NOT eat any seafood other than Tuna.  Last week when I arranged the 'date' he was saying "The Great Wall" a local all you can eat Chinese place (it has lots of seafood there too). I figure that it's their choice where we go so I can deal with it, right? Skipper's it was.  It was nice that they had Root Beer Floats.

I was happy and surprised that he ate most of his dinner. Chowder, coleslaw, fish, Root beer float, and Shrimps- tails and all.  See the concentration of taking the tails off? Opps, the whole shrimp came out. LOL   Sad that he took his birthday watch off in the restroom and forgot to put it back on. See, no watch in these pictures... Funny thing is, really not so funny for Coy- but, his father lost his Birthday watch on his 8th Birthday.  I have a picture of him wearing it- the only proof he got it. Coy had his about 24 hours longer than his father did.
