Design Wall Monday - February 15, 2016

It's DH's Birthday and He has hit the age that He could retire.
He's a hard working Man.
For his Birthday I gave him lots of CASH to buy the stuff for Underground Sprinklers.

He said it will be about $400 but get me $500 in Cash.
The total came to $499.97 at the Irrigation place.
3 Pennies change!  That was cutting it close.

I played with my Treadle while he was gone to pick up the stuff.
Allietare' borders were begging to be sewn partly on "Priscilla".

I got the Yellow sewn to the Grey first then tested the Border both ways.

It was fun to Treadle.
Kind of like Rubbing your Tummy and Patting your head.
It takes coordination.

I couldn't not try the Flange in two places.
Between the between the Grey and Black or the Top and Grey.

Measure twice, Cut Once.
I kept repeating the mantra!

Lots of pinning to distribute the border pieces evenly to sew to the quilt top.

I didn't want to add a 1/4" seam guide.on the Treadle.
The final seams were sewn on my New Artista.
She still needs a Name.

The corner was a little tricky.
Yellow and grey went on together and two Black Borders were attached before we went to Tri-ciites.
A quick trip to go to the Temple and then a Grandson's Basketball game.
Dinner at Taco Time and a rainy ride home.
Back in time to finish getting the last 2  borders on.
Ta Da!

On my Living room Floor since it was dark and rainy outside.

Wonderful Wednesday Sharing -OMG

My Allietare' is getting closer to a Flimsy.
It was my January Goal for OMG -One Monthly Goal
It's a hit at my house.
DH, Paul likes it alot.
Way out of my comfort zone as far as the color way.
I plan to add a grey inner border and a black final border with red or yellow 4-patch corner blocks.

My grandson helped me cut between the rows of blocks.
It's hard to web a Diagonally set quilt.
I hope to have the total flimsy by Monday February 1st/

My BIG TA -DA for today is my
2015 Vacation Time Block of the Month!!!

I took it to Tri-cities to my friend, Debbi T from Alder Avenue Quilting for the Quilting.
I just couldn't wait for "Betsy" to be in working order.
The Theme for the Spring "Trends" trade show in Portland at EE Schenck's is
"A Day at the Beach"
This quilt had to be entered there.

Debbi quilted it on her 'Innova'
There are beach balls all over it with suns, shells, starfish and lines to look like a beach ball.
The thread was a pretty verigated aqua color
a White Cotton Batting and Navy Shadow Play backing.
SO... I'm calling it "Let's Go to the Beach!"

Below are some close-ups of the quilting- just for my Blogging friends

Her charges are very affordable!
She fit my quilt into her busy schedule to make sure it was done in time for me to get the
binding, label and hanging sleeve sewn on.
My favorite part!

One Monthly Goal- link-up

I already made a list of goals.
That was before I saw the a Red Letter Quilts had a Link-up for OMG.
OMG stands for "One Monthly Goal"

If I choose just ONE of the goals I had on my list that would be a much KINDER goal for me.
So...my Choice is getting my Allietare' to Flimsy #1 goal on my list.

This is how it looks so far with about half of the blocks on my Wall.
I re-sewed the Setting Side Triangles.

These have been re-sorted and are ready to finish the stitching.

I need to cut and make more of the be-headed geese or Santa hats to make a few more of the Alternate Blocks.
The main goal for this is for it NOT to go in a Tote and become a UFO!

Remember that for fun I made part one of the Mystery? But I never did any more parts.
I could just make the Santa hats and just do the Alternate blocks for a fun Sewing stuff themed quilt.

I know I'm crazy!
I will still work on those BOW's and BOM's and try to keep up.
Choosing ONE Monthly "BIG" Goal will help keep me busy the rest of the month.

Class samples and Guild Blocks are being worked on, can't show just yet.
Watch for next Wednesday's Posting to see the Block I chose for February's Lotto.

Allietare' blocks on the Wall - 2016 Design Wall Monday, January 4, 2016

It a New Year for Design Wall Monday & the Allietare' Link-up
I have decided to choose a "WORD" of the year after all.
"KINDNESS"
The world needs a bit more of this!
My dear Mother-by love was the epitome' of Kindness.
I am the senior Crowther Grandma now- I need to show more kindness.
To others and to myself.
It's my Birthday Month, what better time to start?

Our Primary Children sing this Song...

"I want to be Kind to everyone.
For that is right, you see.
So, I say to myself,
Remember this.
Kindness begins with me."

The blocks are off the floor and on the Wall this week.
On the wall I can move Blocks I see that might need to be moved around.

My blocks are half done

There is a lot of twisting and turning to "control" the scrappy in the Allietare' Star Blocks.
The notes can't be so close, more switching before stitching.

These side Triangles are ready to re-sew.
The red is a constant in them.

I would have, could have, should have gotten the top together...
My Inner Border will be the Grey and I am still thinking of what to use for the final Border.
Maybe something with the Italian them, not Wine though.
No "Wining" in my house.

My days got busy with lots of 1st of the Year stuff going on.
New Guild Blocks for Lotto, New Class Samples for Sew n Vac.
I spent a LOT of Saturday on my EQ7.
Creating quilts without cutting Fabric.  Fun stuff!

Us Grandma's had to take these 2 boys to see The Good Dinosaur on New Year's Eve.
Their parents had to work.
They had a matinee and NEW Popcorn Buckets for 2016
Good times shared.

January Goals for the New Year
1- Allietare' to a Flimsy
2- Class Samples for Sew n Vac
3- Guild Lotto Block or Blocks
4- Pat Sloan BOM 1st Block
5- 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks - weekly

Saturday Stitching- Happy New Year!

I needed to get my New Year's Stitching in early because I had a Family Gathering to attend yesterday.
We had a great time!  Good Fun, Family and Food as always.
I didn't take my camera into the gathering with me so no pictures to show.
Only Mental memories this time.

I had to Un-sew first.
The 1st Picture I posted before I noticed a BIG BOO BOO.
I was sewing the setting Triangles different.
I needed to re-read the directions and look at the pictures.

I decided it was probably time to quit and go to bed.
But I kept going, sewed the next batch of setting triangles the correct way and took another photo to share.
They echo the corners of the alternate blocks.
You can see how different they are?

Thanks to kind FB Comments...
I found TWO 4-patches turned on my Allietare' Star Blocks.
Now I see why the seam didn't nest right when I sewed them.
All fixed now so I can make the rest of my Blocks.
DH, Paul said he liked the colors in this one.
They sure aren't my normal colors.

I used My Stash for my Constant colors- Gold, Black.
I bought the grey to have enough.
I think the grey will also be my inner Border,
 rather than the Gold/Yellow.
My Neutrals were scrappy and mostly from my Stash.

I have my 1st Block of the Month from Pat Sloan to make and a couple sample blocks for a Teacher's Meeting later next week.

Monday's post will hopefully have more Allietare' and maybe the 16" block for the "Secret Garden".
I didn't select which Floral fabrics I'm using for it yet.
I know I will choose a NON-Directional background fabric this year.

I noticed my Blog Follower count decrease.
It was good to find out why.
Read below.  Thanks Janet O for sharing this info.

Heads up to all of you that read blogs without a Google profile.
From Blogger Buzz posted Dec. 21, 2015:

...starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.

We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.

Design Wall Monday & Allietare' Link-up- December 28, 2015

For my Design Wall I finally get to share the gifts I made for everyone in our family.
Reversible Placemats.
When I  found the Snowman faces, snowflakes and Cardinals on the fabric, I got the great idea for making them for everyone.
Not a small task with our BIG family.
I changed the side the Pocket was on after I made the ones that went to Wyoming with us. They also just had a solid piece of bandana print fabric on the back.
I got lazy and didn't add the Binding when I counted up all I needed made in time for Christmas. I ran out of the bandana print so I found a red print with green apples on it for the last 10.

I put a pkg of Cocoa or Spiced Apple Cider in the pocket with a Candy Cane.
I hope my Son in Missouri has seen his by now.
The Cookies and Truffles will be stale if he hasn't...

I taught the class at Sew n Vac November 14th and had to keep them a secret until now.
EDITED: Pattern available from Me!
Here are the ones made in class
 Brenda's Seahawk's
 Billie's Fall leaves
 Judy's roses

My Quiltville Allietare' Mystery is all caught up and I can Link-up HERE

Clue 5 gave me a bit of trouble.
One row of sets is NOT like the other...

I stretched the chains of blocks up my stairs just for fun.
The sets  were just sewn in pairs when looked again at the clue and had to unsew/Frog 50 + sets!

Whew!!
a few hours and a couple Hallmark Movies later they're all DONE!
Pressing the blocks away from the solid square made a bit of extra bulk in that final seam.
They didn't want to nest the way it should. A good pressing got them to be more flat.
It was as directed by Bonnie and there is always good reason to follow her advice on pressing.
"NOT WHINING!!!

 All the parts 1-5
I'm very curious how the neutral sets on the top will fit into the quilt.

Allietare' Mystery Link-up and Design Wall Monday- December 21, 2015

I had a couple Jammies days and didn't take time Blog on Friday.
I've consoled myself that Betsy won't be fixed in time to finish anything for Christmas.
The part is on order, not in Stock so it could be after 2016 begins.

I'm getting the things done that can be finished without using "Betsy".
I can hardly keep the secrets.  It's so fun to tease about all the guesses I've gotten.
DH says, "Do I get get one, too?"
I think I have chosen a great gift to make for everyone this year.
I can't show the pictures for another few days. 5 days & counting...
Not even a sneak peek, sorry.

Meanwhile, the Allietare' Mystery parts are adding up.
Someone on Facebook is keeping count of the pieces.
2,278 pieces so far, lol

On Friday, I woke in the middle of the night, saw the clue and went back to sleep.
I cut out enough to play with the rulers and the colors.

I sewed only 1 set on Friday

The plan to sew at the LQS didn't happen again this week.
Life and other things got in the way for my 2 friends that wanted to sew with me.
I wish there were more to join us,
I sewed on my Christmas projects and when I got them almost done,
I got out the Clue 4 parts to end my evening Saturday.
Here are 22 Sets of 4
They still need the dog ears trimmed.

All 4 Parts in the tote.
I'm liking this color Combo!

There is some guessing of the block layouts on Facebook already.
I'm not making any guesses.
Maybe after Christmas we will have the first Block instructions.
Clue 5 in Saturday after Christmas Day.
Yet another day I won't need to leave the house to SHOP.
No returns to make or things to buy that Santa forgot.

Thanks to Bonnie we are being kept busy and not stressed when we normally might be.
Sewing has always been my stress-reliever!

Last week, I got to open a couple gifts at our Lacey Lacers Executive party.
President Edith asked to have my name, how fun.
This is what she found
It plays "Whistle While You Work"
while the bears go around the needle.
Ann couldn't NOT give us these pretty ornaments she found at Hobby Lobby.

One Design Wall is empty for now.
I might start putting my 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks up to look at the colors used so far.
The last block given for 2015 was Autumn- #9 in the book.
