I want to do a Scrabble type Quilt of our Grandchildren's names.

Only 100 + letters to make.
Plus the Picture Blocks for the Spelling Bee Quilt.
When this one is chosen, I plan to make a small quilt uusing some of my Letters.

Design Wall/Tote Monday/Fair Sewing plans- August 25,2014

I am going to have a few - like 40 + hours to sit and sew this coming week at the Fair.

Last year I completed the Blocks for the quilt I entered into the Fair this year.

Here it is- because I am in Charge- 

I can tell you I received a Blue Ribbon, and 1 more Ribbon that I can't tell you about, for it.

I can reveal the Big Ribbon WINNING Quilts on Wednesday

We had a Great Judge and my Daughter; Janessa and Edith M were great Clerks this year for me.

I am a Happy Quilter!!!

Setting up this year I've had a Co-Superintendent and that has been better than last year.

I can't find my pattern booklet to work on my Cut Sew Quilt NewFO (insert frowny face)

So far I have three projects ready to play with at the Fair.

1-My Double Wedding Ring Project for my Sister

I need to make another 75 ring blocks.

2-I made this quilt at the Fair last year and it needs binding.

I can Demonstrate a Binding on it one day.

"Pink Pinwheels"

3- My #14 Grandson is Due in late October/early November.

They live in Wyoming so I think this fabric is perfect for some Disappearing Pinwheel or 4-Patch blocks.

I found some blue Gingham that will work as the background fabric.

If I get bored with these projects--- there is always my Guild Block to make for next week.

Double Wedding Ring - Blues

This has been a hard Secret to keep.  

As a child I was known for telling the "secrets".

Keeping them is something that is very HARD especially when 

I want to share my projects on the ol' Blog. 

Many times I wanted to spill it when I spoke to my Sister.
Her Birthday is TODAY!

I mailed a copy of this post to her on Tuesday. 

The ladies at the Post Office said it was promised to be there on Friday

My Sister got the card with my 'Surprise' on Wednesday--
a couple days earlier than I'd planned- thanks to the USPS. :(

I've have felt the need/desire to make her a DWR for many years!!! 

  Every year I say I MIGHT get it done in time for her B-day. 

I NEVER thought I would ever make one. The Curves scared me!!

She is retiring from working at the School next year. 

 She didn't get a DWR when she got married. 

 Tricot quilts were what my Grandma and Mom made back in the 70's. 

 I got mine because of that neighbor lady that asked my mom for scraps. 

 I remember taking that paper sack of fabric over to her. I used to go and visit her on my way home from school. Mine is barely a full size.  

Fast Forward to January 2014... 
Eddie Walker taught a class at STASH to help me make the DWR.  
Her version is way different than the 'Traditional'.
Eddie always makes the quilts simpler.

We used a 10 degree ruler to cut the wedges.

Here are a few blocks set out on my floor in February.

I figure this is 1/4th of the quilt.

I was playing with the Yellow rings to surround the center.  

This might be reversed and the Yellow rings might be in the center.

 After our last class and an afternoon of sewing I had 20 blocks ready to press.

I had to see what they will look like...

They are 10" blocks and it will be set 10x10 (100"x100")
 to fit on her King size Waterbed. 

It might have to have a border to make it fit. 
My quilt frame isn't big enough to quilt it. We'll see how big I can do.
