Friday Finish... Finally!!!

It's been a Very Long week of Unstitching on my Sample for the "Through the Hourglass" quilt.

I made the design smaller than I thought it should be. 

The stutching is only 1/4" between.

 I'll have to try it again on a different smaller quilt. 

Me and my "Froggin' tool are good friends, but I don't want to use it again anytime soon!

I just have to trim it and get it bound. 

Then it will be in the window downtown until after the class in MAY!

I said I would show the things I've added to my Quilting STASH from last week-end.

I laid them out on the living room floor on a sunny morning.  

It's now the 1st day of SPRING! Hurray!!!

Small Town Quilt Show -Midway Utah

The final stop on our Utah trip was the Small Town Quilt Show in Midway, Utah

I first got to Meet Lori and Introduce her for her class.

The first night there was a Meet and Greet time and the winning Quilts were announced.

My neice lives in Heber. After many texts we made arrangements and she picked me up 

so we could have a visit and Lunch on Friday.

Deonn Stott of Quiltscapes showed us how to make the Origami Hexies for the Lamb quilt on the 

May/June Quiltmaker Magazine cover.

She used the purple hexie I chose to demo for Hexigami,  the link shows the steps to make it.

 All of it was so wonderful and I am going to be on a HIGH for weeks after meeting all the ladies whose blogs I follow or have visited.  I met Amy Ellis Amy's Creative Side  but didn't get to take a pic with her. :(

It was great to have so many of them in the same place where I could meet them and get a few more

2012 Fall Trends Road Trip

Early Thursday morning Lynn, My Quilting Buddy and owner of Thread and Bolts and I took off enroute to the Fall Trends Show at EE Schencks in Portland. We took time to stop in Camas to look around a couple of antique stores and of course had to check out a Quilt shop that was new.  We googled it! In the Antique Store I asked if they had any "Featherweights" and was directed to This one...It was too precious to the seller and way out of my price range.  Needless to say, it's still there. I'm still looking for that elusive Featherweight to come home with me.

 We saw a few old quilts and I had Lynn hold them up so I could take pictures to BLOG.

 And for Lunch as recommended, we had authentic German/Russian food at "Natalia's".  It was a beautiful sunny day so we ate outside.  The nice waiter took our picture for us.

 Friday Morning as we got to the Warehouse at Trends, we saw our 3 Quilts proudly on display.

My McCall's Challenge #2 Quilt from last year was #9 of 11 quilts there.  Last Trends there were 31 in the contest we found out.  We almost didn't send our quilts.  I had to talk Lynn into sending hers.  I had a few to choose from but sent this one because of the quilting.  I though it had a chance of winning something.

 Friday Guest Speaker was Jean Wells of  "The Stitching Post" Quilt Shop fame. We enjoyed listening to how she got started at "The Stitching Post" and what 'inspires' her Quilts.  They had us put a Business card in the basket and 36 Lucky shop owners took home her new Book.   She also signed a siggy Square for our "Famous Siggy Quilt".

Heather Spence was one of those lucky people and when I saw her I called out and had Lynn take our picture.  We are WASIQ and Facebook Friends. It was fun to meet her face to face. We ate Lunch together and visited more as the weekend went on. Sorry to my Hair dresser, niece, I didn't get my bangs fixed.

 Saturday's Guest Speaker was Jerry Stube from "Quilter's Quarter's" in Leavenworth, Kansas.  She talked about Marketing and Block of the Month programs.  I've been in her store when we visited our Army son, but had never met her.  What an opportunity we had to meet both of the Guest Speakers at Trends.  There were more Notable quilters who also were vendors and did the Take and Teach classes on Saturday and Sunday.

Here's Lynn styling our new "Thread and Bolts" T-shorts we had made by Tara at Copier Specialists here in Walla Walla.  The Bear is Lynn's LOGO. Lynn had the LOGO embroidered on the Hot Pink tote bag and two denim shirts for us to wear too.  She was so happy to see this quilt hanging up with  "Lucky Number 11"
