July Goals

1-Catch up Market Day blocks HERE -DONE!!!

I finished the Flimsy of my Market Day

2- Make M & C Quilt Blocks x 61 -One Block is sewn together!

(So I don't sew it WRONG!)

I cut out the Pieces to work on the rest of these blocks at a Retreat!

I hope that I can get most of M & C's quilt blocks sewn at the Retreat then I can work on my sisters DWR.
There are other projects I may take with me in case I get bored...

3- Join the  Cut - Press - Sew - Quilt SAL HERE

Fabrics are still waiting...

I made fairly easy goals this month, LOL.  

Add on goal- 4- I have sewn on a "Tester" Quilt and it is almost done-  ahead of the Deadline next week. :)
Add on Goal -5 Row by Row Experience - Iv'e had a LOT of help gathering the row patterns and License plates!!
I think I'll name it "Collecting with Friends"

I made up a sample layout for those Lotto Blocks I won at Guild.

I got the brainy idea that they would make great alternate blocks for the rest of my sample Lotto Blocks.

Happy National Quilting Day!!!

Last year I was quilting away with Bonnie Hunter, Debbie Caffery, and Jo Morton in
Portland at the Quiltmaker Block Party.

This year I'll be spending time with 2 of my Daughters and my sister at 

TIMEOUT for Women. 

I laid out my Block of the month Blocks from the last year of Guild Lotto.
Since I have learned how to import the pictures into EQ7 I can do this 'virtually'.
Saves my knees and the normal 'Quilt Yoga'.

No fabrics had to be cut and I can still change it --if I want to.
I think I will play with this years blocks and plan ahead a little more so 2 similar blocks aren't touching.
Does this count as Quilting? I hope so. It was fun to play with the Blocks in EQ7.

Design Wall Monday- June 10, 2013

My Design Wall today has me going in many different directions.  I've made a couple more of these DEPRESSION Blocks.  These are the Lotto Blocks for Guild. I've decided to make a few into the Pillows to go with my Benches outside rather than the Covers for the cushions. I'm waiting for the Pillow forms to come.  I ordered them from Hancockfabrics.com and got FREE Shipping.

I'm ready for this BUSY Week of Guild and Lots of Children and Grandchildren Company! 

 I get to play with this cute pile of fabrics this week, too. I can't show what I'm doing with it though... 

NEXT WEEK is the big Reveal- OK?

On Saturday I spent time at the Ft Walla Walla Days with my Lacey Lacers Guild.  This was my first time to join them out there.  The reason I joined was to learn how to Knit better and to make BOBBIN LACE.

Here is my Bobbin Lace Pillow and Bobbins ready fro my first Lesson this week.  I bought the Bobbins and the book, a while ago but never got my Pillow made.  Actually, I just needed to buy the Insulfoam and cut it with my serrated knife. The pillow is sitting on a big piece of fabric that I will use to wrap it all up in a bundle to transport it to and from my class. Marilee suggested I make a round pillow and showed me how to wind the pearl cotton onto the Bobbins.  I have a lot to learn here. I KNOW, I didn't need another Hobby...

Mostly what has been going under my needle is these Graduation gifts for the SENIORS of 2013.

 

 Congratulations to all of them!  Best of Luck in their future endeavors- Summer Jobs, College, or Missions.

 My DD #1 Picked up this IKEA goose necked LED Light for me and met me at Costco to give it to me.  I've wanted one since I saw Bonnie Hunter's on her QuiltCAM. I'll be taking it with me on RETREAT.

I hope this week before Father's Day that I can find time to play and not just WORK to get ready for all the FUN to Come.  Meanwhile it's time to go check out more DWM posts HERE.

3-13-13 Another Day in History

Really it's just Wednesday to me, but I like the combination of the numbers in the date.

It is a Historical date for all of our Catholic Friends as well.  They 'Elected' a new POPE. Not only is the Pope Catholic but he is Argentinian for the first time.

I finished stitching down the binding, hanging sleeve and label on my Easy "Busy" Street quilt.  I slept under it almost done last night and showed it off at Quilt Guild last night. It waits now to go with me to "MEET" Bonnie Hunter- the designer of this Mystery quilt.  The BIG Ta-DA will be a picture of me with Bonnie and the quilt.  I will get her to sign a 'siggy' square and I saved a place on the label for her to write also.

 Here it is with the last part I stitched with the binding clips on the edge. This is a great way to avoid getting poked by pins as I hand-stitch the binding down. I started the stitching down at Guild last night. They had Show and Tell before the break this time so it was shown with it less finished than I wanted. Here is what my Secret Pal gifted me.  I'll take the popcorn and M&M's to Portland with me.  The glue pen is a new tool I've been wanting to try. I already threw the fabric into the washer for pre-washing, it's wet in the photo.

 These 9 Amish Diamond Blocks were submitted for the Block Lotto.  Victoria was our lucky Winner.

 Our next Lotto Block is the 'Baby Bud'  from Quilter's cache.

 The Direct link is HERE. I made one with Black background to go with my Block Lotto Sampler that I'll make with all the Blocks that I get to choose to make this year. I'm having fun choosing and making the blocks!

This is part of the design board I used to show the tips for those who need extra help to make the blocks.

I showed that there are many ways to make the HST's needed.   I've used an Emory board and drawn a line from corner to corner, drawn 3 lines using the plastic 'Quilter's Rule" and folded & pressed the lighter square in half diagonally to form a crease to stitch down both sides.   I cut my squares a bit bigger ( 5") and trim them down using Eleanor Burns Square-up ruler to 4.5".  There are many more ways and rulers to aid in getting HST's to be the size you want.
 Directions were handed out and I requested a Yellow center with any floral they choose with a cream background. The directions showed a secondary pattern made with 4 blocks, so I did that too.  Gets my mind thinking on more baby girl quilt possibilities for these blocks.

Design Wall Monday - March 7, 2011

Because Guild is this week, My wall @ Lynn's had my 2 Lotto Blocks on it. Lynn's 4 are on the Right. Contrary Wife and Onery Husband blocks. AND at home while I was trying to finish the ALLIANCE projects that are shown HERE and HERE are my Brown strips that I'm playing with for the March Monchromatic Challenge. I found them in a Ziplock bag that I picked up at a Treasure sale at Guild, I think. The funny thing was after I put these on the WALL, I check the Quilty Blogs and found someone else playing with 'scraps' too. It was on Stash Manicure. I have only Monday to finish the Alliance Project and get it in the mail. No pressure, right. Checkout the other Walls Linked at Patchworktimes HERE
