2- Quilt 2 quilts on "Betsy" (I need more practice on Border placement)  DONE
3- Make some more Blue & White  LUS Blocks -  4 DONE

It has been a Good Month!

I got a Text to meet this cute Grand-daughter on her Field Trip to Ft Walla Walla.
  Her Mother was there too
This display had some of my favorites.  Dolls and a Toy Sewing machine.
I looked for the Quilts but only saw this one in the Gift shop/

Because it's still "MAY FOR ME"

I had to spend a day catching up with some of my BOM & BOW.
Nothing like waiting until the last minute to make the May Blocks for the "Vacation Time" Quilt.
Pat Sloan calls it "Beach Bag Bliss"
It usually rains when I have been to the Beach so once again my block reflects that.
Rain all around and Bathing beauties on the sandy beach.

I enjoy making these 12" blocks - on Thursday not so much.
I was trying to use the Flying geese method but due to Directional Raindrop and Background.
The fabrics had to be changed around from where I had originally planned.

I got my Farm Girl Friday Blocks made just in time for the Next ones to be revealed today HERE.
 Canning Jars & Chicken Foot

I have added another Blue and White block to my Loyal Union Sampler on the Sidebar
G-5 Memory

I hope this May I have made a few Memories.
My Mother's Memory has been on my mind a lot with Mother's Day, Romas Birthday and the Visit I had with my Niece when she gave me these sweaters that were my Mom's.
There were 2 so I had to share one with my only Sister.

Wearing the sweater makes me feel like I'm getting a Hug from Heaven.
My DH took this Picture for us.
My Sister is retiring this year as soon as School is over.
She and her DH are going to serve an LDS Mission.
Their house is already SOLD!
It is meant to happen.

Design Wall Monday- September 23, 2013

I have sewn 4 of the 6 Blocks I cut out last week.
2 for the Aloha LUS (Loyal Union Sampler) and 2 for the Blue and White one. I have 2 more to sew.  I was browsing and catching up on my Blogs and saw THIS POST over at Quiltaholic's Blog. She showed and compared some of the Blocks from the Suylvia's Bridal Sampler to ones in the new Book to make the Loyal Union Sampler.  Many of the Blocks are the same but with different color placement and a different name to go with the Civil War era. Very Interesting if you want to go and see.  Anne Ida is one of the lucky ones who has a full quilt in the Loyal Union Sampler Book.

Because I was gone to the Ricky Tims Super Seminar most of the week, I knew I'd need something for MONDAY.  I saw the REVEAL of Pam Bono's Nabby's Dowry SAL and am happy to say Janet O was very, very close to the setting.  I will just have to add the sashings in the correct sizes for my smaller Blocks and I can finish this quilt top soon. There wasn't time this week to sew it together. Maybe Next month even get it quilted with the inspiration from the Seminar. See these fun pictures of the Wall Paper and carpets at the Red Lion!
  Inspiration is EVERYWHERE.

I am sharing this LINK to  Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville Blog to make and send Quilts to Colorado to help out the Flood Victims.  Go check it out if you can help. I'll be asking my fellow Guild Members to donate too.

I found my other SWAP Blocks from the Block Party so I can put them all together.  This is our Walla Walla Valley Quilt Festival week so my sewing time will be limited. I have a block I can hand sew while I am sitting at the Guild Booth. I got my Quilts and projects all finished this year so I just had to run them over and drop them off between Church classes today. I can show them on next Monday's Design Wall.

Enablers!

YES!!! We Quilters are all Enablers!  I took the Loyal Union Sampler book out to Lynn for her Birthday, and you know how one thing leads to another, right?
She is sitting in her Fabric/Quilt Shop after all, how fun can that be??  We found some Civil War type fabrics for her to think about.
Then she saw the quilt on page 9.  She has almost all of the ALOHA fabric line from Red Rooster that Jennifer made a beautiful quilt out of with only 35 of the Loyal Union Sampler Blocks.
It occurred to us that we could make that one easily in a short time. I came home and inspected the page the quilt is on and made a chart of which blocks go where and what page they are on, etc.
I even found where Jennifer got her inspiration to make the quilt HERE and HERE.

I had to go back out yesterday and show her what I found.  Then I got to cut some fabric for us to make this quilt.  The stripe is a Fat Quarter I had from somewhere I went, I don't remember where??  We hope that the FQ will be enough to make the 6 blocks we need that use it.

This Aloha fabric isn't in any stores that are local other than Lynn's Thread and Bolts.

We made the top for our Sylvia's Bridal Sampler in 9 Month's time.
I wonder how long it will take us to make the Loyal Union Sampler.

Next week-end is the Ricky Tims/Alex Anderson/Melnda Bula Seminar in the Tri-cities. There will even be a Ricky Tims Concert! I've heard only great things about that!
I'm so excited to meet Ricky and Alex!  I just saw Alex has a new quilting book out.  I can get her sign mine in person.  YEA!  Go HERE to watch her u-tube video. If you want a copy of her new Book go HERE.

If I'm feeling really nice I might get an extra copy and have a Giveaway...
How many of my fellow Bloggers would be interested in that??

September NewFO

I didn't list a NewFo for the Month. I already have plenty to keep me busy.  I got the new Pattern Book of the "Loyal Union Sampler" in the mail and have joined the Yahoo Group to make the quilt a Block a week.  At that rate it could take a couple years. There are 121 blocks in this Sampler.
I 'tested' 5 Blocks for the Book and my name is listed as one of Jennifer's friends.
I found the quilts that my blocks are in and now can show them to you.
If you want to JOIN the YAHOO GROUP the link is HERE .
F-4 Jonathan's Satchel, C-8 Diamond Star, B-10 Connecticut

B-6 Charley Stockley's Star                                      H-5 Ohio

I have to decide still what fabrics to use in my LUS (Loyal Union Sampler)  I'm leaning toward the scrappy Blue and White version. I did the 3 Blue and White Blocks, using my B & W stash, with the first call for help and when a 2nd call went out, I got the patterns plus the fabric from Jennifer to make the last two.

Jennifer will be in Colorado signing her new Book " The Spymistress" in October. Link to read the first Chapter is HERE. I'm hoping DH can get vacation time and take me to see her.
I could get her to sign my LUS Book too. Wish me LUCK!

New Book from Elm Creek Quilts Coming soon

Jennifer is at it again. Coming in November...
I can hardly wait for this one to be released in August/September.
I will show you MY 5 Blocks then, just 4-5 months to wait.
Jennifer posted the link to the Contributers list that is in the Loyal Union Sampler Book on Facebook.  I see my name there and am so happy to be listed among these fellow- modern day Elm Creek Quilters.  Just 'tooting my horn' again. A lot of these quilters I know only from ONLINE in my Yahoo group and SBS list.
I've swapped blocks with a few of them too. My Sarah's Choice Swap Quilt is almost finished.  My SBS swap blocks are blogged HERE and HERE on my UFO Challenges for 2011 and 2012. About time to get them out again, do ya think?? HERE is a Link to Jennifer's page. you can read about the news and upcoming book tours there.

The LUS Book is coming this Summer!

It's been a while since I tested 5 different Blocks for this book.  Finally the release date has been announced.  It was first proposed to be in October, then September, now it's AUGUST!  Sew Cool!!!  I can't wait to get my hands on it.  I have a bunch of fabrics saved to make it.  In August I'll show you my "tested" blocks.

I had a FREE day on Monday so I took advantage to cut and sew up the blocks for the Judie Rothermel 25th Anniversary SAL Row Quilt at Temecula Co.Quilts.  This Friday the 5th row will be shown.  I'm all caught up and loving the little 5.5" blocks made with my Civil War fabrics. Thought I would NEVER say that. 20 made in one day- WOW. Janet O. showed her blocks HERE.  I had to make them, too.  Can I say Janet made me do it?? Yes, those are my toes sticking up there...

In my mail yesterday was an envelope with these cute cut-out hands of my Colorado grandsons.
A belated, but welcome Valentine's Wish!  Aren't they just adorable??
Today is Day 2 of the M & M Quilting Group out at Thread and Bolts Quilting. They liked the name I suggested so we are officially the "M & M Quilting Group". The M & M stands for Marti Michell, of course. Since I'm the picture taker I get to go both days that there is a class.  Julie H. from Mesa will be there.  I can't wait for her to see her newest Quilt that Lynn finished for her.  They will be posted on the Thread and Bolts Blog later today.

Happy Wednesday, fellow BLOGGERS!  I hope you can spend a little time with your Rotary Cutters, Fabrics, and Sewing Machines today!
