Monthly Guild Lotto - June

In May the Guild held a special SEW-IN to make Kids Quilts

 from the Lotto Blocks we've been making and donating.

I was so excited to see all of them.

They posed together so I could get a picture.

They look different with the choices of fabrics.

It sure makes me happy to see the way my Block of the month has been received this year.

Donating the blocks has increased the participation.  

Having a common fabric that is provided also is a Plus.

Here are the Blocks turned in this month.

Making the Pinwheels was a bit tricky for those who didn't have an Easy Angle Ruler.

The framed Blocks were the remedy for too small Pinwheels.

 And for next month - or maybe August

"Strawberry Smoothie"

It was a fun Guild -we had Ice Cream Sundaes.

I have another guild Meeting on Monday so I can keep my Show and Share bag packed.

My Civic is still in the shop so I'm driving this Sweet Ride.

I rented it until this afternoon, but I think I'll keep it another day...

Marching on OMG!

I missed the Link-up for my One Monthly Goal Finishes!!!

I gotta hurry and link-up my March OMG HERE

The question is What shall I choose?  

I have so many UFO's in the Block stage that  need to be Flimsies.

I have tried counting but won't share exactly how many, I keep finding more.

As I find them I will add them to the Tab at the top of the Blog.

March will be really busy so I am choosing my 

Guild BOM Lotto Quilt.

A-Z blocks given out over two+ years.

The 12" Block patterns came from Quilter's Cache.

It needs a border and to be quilted.

With so many other things on my agenda I will feel lucky if I get the borders on.

I have more March Goals to list-  weekly ones that I want to keep working on.

1- 1930's Farmer's Wife -Blocks of the week

2-Loyal Union Sampler - the Yahoo group has almost finished the first round. 

3- Pat Sloan "My Secret Garden" block 3

4- Finish Guild & Class samples and Patterns

Quilt Guild Time

HERE is the link for this month's Guild Block.

I though it was fitting to make this block - even if it has the dreaded Paper Piecing!!!

I know there are guild members who enjoy it.

I am so grateful for the Guild and all who attend.
We have added many new Members this year.  We have 115 now!

I really Missed going last month.

I even had a block made to show.

 I changed it and combined the tiny squares and cut a 4-1/2" square instead.

I did sew & flip corners on the background ones in the center.

I liked it better that way, but didn't want to have to explain and make a handout to show how.

September Quilt Guild 2015

I didn't have enough of the Arkansas Cross Roads block.

I had to make it in a 12" block for our LOTTO this month.

Pattern is HERE

 My Grandson said I should use Blue and Green for the "Seahawks"

.  He chose the fabrics from my stash.

The constant Fabric will be the Kona White.

There were 11 sets of Attic Window Blocks turned in.

9 of the 11 were the same way.

Guess who won the Attic Window Blocks?

This will be an interesting quilt that I will donate when it is done.

Quilt Guild Fun

Guild night was Fun!
We had a bunch from Pendleton visit us.
A Presentation from Nancy K on  4- Patch Slice ,
 a quick quilt made from Charm packs and one more fabric.

I took 2- Z Cross Blocks to put in the Lotto

There were only 6 total and I was the Lucky winner with my #15.

For August we will make this Block
July is our Potluck and Treasure Sale.
It's called "A Dandy"
as in Yankee Doodle Dandy, I suppose.

I hope we get more than 6 blocks. A part of them could be donated to the AHQ in Jessica's honor.
The fabric constant is the Blue.

The program was Tips and Tricks with Jan & Becky!  
They were comical and I even learned a couple tips that I hadn't heard before that I will try.

"Z Cross"

It's only a 10" Block so for my Quilt I up-sized it to 12"

I laid it all out on my "Design Floor"

It only took a little over an hour to stitch it together.

 NOTE- the Green block in the Lower Right corner will be replaced with a purple one.

I had DH help me put it up on the garage, but it didn't hang very well.
It needs the setting triangles.
The Triangles will be added later when I choose the right fabric.

When I won the Purple Pennsylvania Blocks that are between all the Lotto Blocks, 

I got these green ones too. 

I put them with my Winning "Housewife" blocks to see how they look.

I think it needs some sashing and a border and I will call it done.  A fun 'girly' quilt.

While I was stitching the rows together I used my Stars in a Time Warp blocks as Leader/enders.

I have cut out a bunch to use as I stitch other things. 

 I'm not sure which type of Civil War fabrics these all are.

I might have to invest in a  Civil War fabric book.

February Guild Night

Our Guild Block Lotto is nearing the end of the Alphabet.

This month is the letter "X"

I made a 2nd block with a lighter Lavendar Fairy Frost  as the Center square.

This was a block that takes a while to make all of the Flippy corners for the "snowball" type blocks.

We had 12 Blocks, I think, turned in tonight. 

 Barbara L's Mom; Robirta, a new quilter to join in on the fun was our  Lucky Winner!

My picture of the blocks on the table didn't turn out.

There were 3 QOV quilt tops shared at Guild.

The Sawtooth Stars were made prior to the day.  I made a few of these.

A total of 75 Blocks were made that day, including all of the Ohio Stars.

Design Wall Monday- February 9, 2015

I took a break on Saturday to spend the day making Blocks for the Quilts of Valor effort.

It was a National QOV Day and my Guild hosted a fun Sew-in. There's a QOV Blog HERE

The Guild provided a Crockpot lunch of yummy soup and rolls.

I'm glad I could attend!

Thanks to Brandi who Blogs HERE for taking some Pictures.

Jessica M is our QOV Sew-in leader.  She said the goal of the day was to make a bunch of blocks to stock up for more assembly of quilts through the year. 

Two ladies were assembling quilts as we stitched new ones.

Other Blocks being made were  Ohio Star, Jacob's Ladder and a Chain Block.

Jessica showed them at Guild last month.

I only had time to make 12 of these blocks.

The pattern is from Quilter's Cache HERE.

I could just make it the normal way.  

I brought some Red, White and Blue fabrics from home to use.

I couldn't lay my hands on any "Flag", "Star" or Patriotic fabrics

 as I was hurrying to get there Saturday am.

I first though of making the blocks with the Blue as Background all around.  

Opps,the White snuck in there...

A new block made.

I had a couple of my Grandson's Basketball games to watch in the afternoon.  

It was nice that they were in Walla Walla this time.

His team won both games- Go Kennewick AAU team!!!

I put the 12 blocks on my Design Floor to play with them.

I'll add this coloring to my EQ7 and see what kind of sashings and border look best.

I wonder how many QOV Quilts were made for National Quilts of Valor day?

Tuesday is my Guild night, I'll take pictures of any that show up in Show & Share.

Quilt Guild Block of the Month & 2 BOW pictures

It's a New Year at Quilt Guild and we are making the final Alphabet Blocks for our Block Lotto.

Guess who WON again??   Little ol' me

I heard some of the members after the meeting say that they really wanted to WIN this time.

I thought quickly and said, "I'm thinking of a Number between 1- 25"

Sherry M , our New Vice President picked the correct Number- 15

The number I won the blocks with and the DATE of my Birthday this week.

I could have kept them, but I already have a Red & White Quilt or 2 in my collection.

One of the previous Block of the Month quilts showed up during our Show & Share.

The story goes that Maggie (in pic) told Pat C that she liked the blocks she just won last August
- so Pat gave them to her.  This quilt will go to our Baby Quilt Charity.

I love seeing the quilt made from the winning Blocks.

We have a Quilts of Valor Sew-IN Day coming up in February.

All over there will be quilters making quilts on February 7th.

Shown are a few of the blocks we will be making that day.

Ideas presented to the group tonight were a "Round or Block Robin" and a "Scrap it Forward"
The Scrap it Forward has my attention.  You'll be hearing more about it later.

I had fun using my Set 'E' Marti Michell templates to make this block. 

I pressed the heck out of it and scorched the corner, hope it washes out.

I see I should have used 3 fabrics, oh well...

My #50 of the 140 I need to make. 

90 left to go.

The Downton Abbey quilt blocks are done and I'm ready for next week.

I chose to meet both the Lord and Lady Grantham.

December Guild Mtg- January Lotto Block

We had 8 Lotto blocks brought back this month.

Some said they couldn't figure it out.  

(one of the blocks isn't like the others...)

Congrats to our Secretary Pat C who won them!

We got a little silly with our Christmas Guild Mtg and were invited to wear our Christmas sweaters.

It was fun to see all the cute one and a few funny ones.  I wore a funny one.

It says "Hey, Rudolph, Call 911"  

I knelt down in the front, can you see the Tree on top of my head?

The potluck table was FULL of good things to eat.

And the President passed the Microphone on to our New President.

For next month I found some cute "Snowman" fabric for the background.

The trick to make the Hourglass units was different to me.

Make 4 Hst's & cut them twice diagonally, take 2 opposite 2- pieced units & sew into hourglass unit. 

"Variable Star"

We had a gift exchange and played it by passing the gifts around to the Right and Left 

as the story of the Right Family was read.

It was a lot of fun.

I was reminded of my days as a Christmas Around the World Demonstrator.

I played the Left/Right Game at some of my parties I demo-ed.

November Quilt Guild- Lotto Block

Tonight at Guild there were 16 blocks brought in.

We elected our new Officers for 2015 tonight and had a fun Program from a Previous President.

She shared the Scrappy Silly Goose- Flying Geese and Easy Drunkard's Path from 

Missouri Star Quilt Company.

T is for Tennessee, & More!

I made the Tennessee Block for our Lotto at Quilt Guild tonight.

It will be fun to see the scrappiness of the blocks that get made this month.

 I gave them all a Green square of fabric to use as an HST or a center square.

I made these 2 Spinning 4- Patch blocks in hopes of winning the  whole bunch.

The Raffle Quilt for next year was revealed tonight.

It is KING SIZED!

Tickets go on sale in January 2015- $1 each.

I had a busy SEW-ing Day.

I got the final border on my Globetrotting Block of the Month from Pat Sloan.

I had to go and buy more of the fabric to make the border strips.

I followed Pat's Directions and it fit just right.
