Friday Sharing- Giveaway Winner

After writing my Mid- Month report I had to play in the Quilt Zone.

School starts next week and so does the Pre-Fair Judging.  

I'll be a busy Quilter all week...

I got my Farm Girl Friday Blocks made from last Friday.

I'm caught up just in time for the next two blocks to be posted.

I also made my Block of the Week for my Loyal Union Sampler.

It's been too long since I played in my Blue and White Scraps. 

H-2 New Jersey

This was a fun block to put together.  I made a few 'wrong' parts and had to re-cut.

With this one I am HALF-WAY to the Finish. 60 more to sew.

The updated EQ Layout in on the sidebar. 

I update it even if I don't post the blocks right away.

I still need to clear off  "Betsy" and get a Quilt ready for the Walla Walla Quilt Festival.

Looking for a TOILE

 My Stars in a Time Warp are getting more interesting... This week we are looking for Toile.

 I thought I had some, Maybe NOT CW though.

I'll have to look in my travels for some.
Time for another Road Trip before SUMMER is over!!!!

It's week 31 already.

I made a bunch more so I could use my newest Civil War fabrics.

Amelia's in Kennewick has some...just saying

How many more will I make?  Who knows.
I am having fun learning about the Civil War era fabrics.
AND these stars are addicting.
Using my Easy Angle ruler for the Star points sure saves fabric.

Advanced Quilt Camp- DONE "Creative Goodness"

I had to wait to post until I had the pictures from the Quilt Camp

Today was the last day- 

Bindings were attached, sewn down by machine and labels made ready to sew on by hand.

Jan E from Quilt Guild taught them to make the 

"Double Slice Layer Cake" 

from Missouri Star Quilt Company HERE

It was quick and easy piecing. 

Each quilt reflected the personality of the Quilter.

The kids ranged in age from 12-17

There were enough volunteers for each girl to have a helper.

These quilts will be on display at our Walla Walla County Fair- Labor Day week-end.

I spent Thursday sleeping as much as I could after my ALL Night Quilting on my 

2015 Row by Row Quilt.  I'll have that on my Design Wall Monday.

It will be delivered to a shop where there isn't a winner yet on Saturday.

Friday Sharing-Row by Row quilt

I've been collecting more Rows to make my "Row by Row Quilt.

I have 9 Rows done.

Someone else beat me to take her quilt into Quiltmania this week.

I guess I don't have to be in a real Hurry, now.

Thursday I drove to Lewiston, Idaho with a stop in Pomeroy, WA to get a couple rows.

I had too many Appliqued ones and needed some Pieced ones.

Friday I finished those two rows.

My rows represent the Pacific Northwest states-

Washington Idaho and Oregon

The Quiltmania row may or may not be included.

I'm not too fond of the 'Toilets'.

I did see a row with goldfish jumping out of snail's trail waves from another State.
I think most of the rows are very Creative.  I'm enjoying the collecting.

A New Kids Class -Possibilities

My Finishing Kids class didn't happen and nobody signed up for the Rubies and Diamonds class.

so it's back to the drawing/Design Boards.

 Thinking of using some Charm Packs to make a Mini/Doll Quilt or something small this time.

I haven't received my NEW Pre-Cuts that I ordered yet.

 I had this stack of Greens just sitting on my Cutting table. 

 UMMMM What can they become?

Let's start with a Basic 5" square and cut a few of each fabric.

With a few stitched seams they can become---

9  Patches

This is my New Start!  

Many Possibilities 

I was just 'clearing' my Cutting table off and got distracted...

A few more Stars in a Time Warp got sewn while I was making 9-Patches

& my Corn and Tomatoes block got done too.

I had an older one - not VINTAGEY, here at home- So Boring!!!

These are cut from just a few of my Scraps I had in a bag.

The last place I looked, I found the one I really was looking for...

 This one- VINTAGE!!!

I had to make mine PURPLE!

I used a Mini Clothespin to hold my Strips together.

My Mini Mat and Travel Iron are Handy to have on my TV Tray.

I'm ready for #FarmGirlFriday now.

Finally Friday- A Flimsy

It's been a long, busy week! 

 I am always glad for Friday to come.

I got my 4th Block in the Vacation time Block of the month done.
 It's called Penny Arcade.

After a bit of 'frogging', the Zig Zag Spiderman D9P is a Flimsy.

It only took 7 years!

This one has been sitting waiting for the final side of the border to be sewn on. 

I had two extra Border Blocks and needed 4, 

I thought about using them on alternate corners but looked at it again on Tuesday 

& tried Black Corners and I like how they look. 

Now to decide on the backing and how to quilt it. 

DH had a Day off so he was doing all the Honey Do's with our 4 year's young grandson.

He got some more grass seed and re-planted in the patches that the earlier seed didn't sprout in.

He fixed the Window on our Attic that had a broken latch and put a screen on the inside behind the broken pane to keep the wasps out.

He got some Quart jars down from the Attic for our DD#1 to use for her PTA

The grandson thought it was fun to go up there climbing the 'secret ladder'.

The Fresh air of Springtime and Lilacs on our walk to pick up his brother was fun, too
I love being a Grandparent.. Our DD #2 was working so they got to come and play.
DD#2 says that we wore them out.  They went right to sleep for her.
The Blooms on my SnowBall Bush are coming out.  I got this for Mother's Day last year.
It makes me SMILE- and remember my Father.

I bought a cafe curtain rod that extends to 86" and had him put it on the Garage, up under the eaves.

The place I had put up the Hooks and piece of Conduit under the Patio gets a lot of direct sun so taking pictures isn't as easy without getting the top of the quilt shaded.

I will have to use the bigger ladder to get up there to attach the quilt, but I think I like it better.

DH helped hang my Midnight Flight to see how an finished Quilt Looks.

I had to stand in the back of the pickup to get level with the quilt, hummmm.

This quilt hasn't been a Quilt show since it was finished after our Local one in September 2014.

I checked and there was still time to enter it in the Krazy Horse Quilters Show HERE .

Easter Preparations...Creative Goodness

I love Easter time!

It's even more Special when General Conference in held on this week-end.

It's a time to re-commit to living as Jesus Christ would have done.

Sharing the Gospel's "Good News"

Today, I will spend some time putting Chocolate on these Marshmallow Eggs.

They will look like This...

Easter eggs- a sign of Spring and NEW LIFE!!!

My DD#2 is HOME this year to help me.

 The last time I made them with her was in 2009 in her home in Vancouver, Washington HERE

I am blessed to share this Easter Tradition.

I will Share the recipe this year- just for my Blog Readers.

Chocolate Marshmallow Eggs

Prepeare the 'molds' by filling sheet pans with flour- smoothed out and imprinted with an EGG.

I use two or 3 with a full batch, you can halve the recipe and fill just one sheet pan.

2 pkg KNOX Gelatin  + 4 TBLS Cold Water -Set aside

3 TBLS Jell-O (any flavor) 

1 Cup Boiling Water

Combine the above in a Mixing bowl and start beating.

Add 2 cups Granulated Sugar and Beat 5 minutes.

Spoon into the impressions and let set.  Turn over to coat the top side.

Dip in melted Chocolate and place on Waxed paper.  Store in covered containers.

I got this recipe when I lived in Mesa, Washington- 39 years ago!

They are really easy and so much better than the ones you buy in the store.

You could add icing flowers or print names on them for your grandchildren.

In my house they are usually eaten plain, the children don't wait for the fancy stuff.

If you don't want to mess with the flour, you can lightly spray a cake pan with non-stick spray 

and pour the Marshmallow into it. 

Cut with a sharp knife dipped into a glass of Hot water. 

Shake in a Zip-lock bag with Powdered Suger and /or Coconut.

Class Schedule is Ready!

I stopped in at Walla Walla Sew & Vac and Spas Thursday.

Seeing my Quilt on the wall walking into the store made my day!

Oh and so did my neice, Danette- I got my hair re-done finally!! Bye -Bye Gray!

Thanks to those who are so encouraging on my new Venture.

I am having FUN dreaming up new designs and stitching up pretty fabrics.

I wake up in the night with inspiration so I have to keep a Blank piece of paper and pen beside me.

My first order from Schencks has arrived.

I'm happy I get to attend Trends in a few weeks.  

Diamonds and Rubies will be there!!!

I took the long way home to avoid Road Work.

I needed to go to the Highland Quilt Shop in Athena. 

To get more of the Yellow for my Grand Illusion inner Border.

I'm thinking of adding another 3-4 blocks to the quilt to make it a little bigger.
 The Pieced border blocks will fit better if I do...

Wednesday - I went out to Thread and Bolts to sew.
We made purses to take to Trends.
Mine is made with Mrs Sew N Sew and Kona Bay Fabrics.
I had to add the Purple, right??

I used a piece of Moda twill tape for the button loop instead of a magnetic snap.

This one was from "Jumanji" shown on the Family Channel a couple nights ago.

One of the NEW Hallmark Movies had a LOT of Quilts in the scenes!

Camera Phone is being weird and not uploading the pics.

Day 2- I shared three quilts that were hanging around in my home.

(I could take the pictures with my phone and upload them easily, FB was being dumb)

A "seasonal" Quilt made from Blocks gathered on a Shop Hop I took with my Oldest DD  and DBL.

I made a different version for my Sister. 

This one hangs inside on my back door window, I see it as I leave the house.

This quilt was made from Spool blocks given to me after I served as Co-Chair for the Local Quilt Guild back in 2007- I finished the quilt myself in 2010. 

This one hangs in the window of the Basement bedroom as a curtain.

"Spools"

The 3rd quilt for the 2nd day was this one.

 It began as a Strip Challenge at Guild in 2010.

I liked it so well, I made a 2nd one (different design) to give away for the challenge instead.

This one hangs in my stairway as I enter the Quilt ZONE!

"Flower Pots"

 Day 3- It's the celebration day for our Oldest Grand-daughter, so I shared her 3 quilts I made.

Her first quilt-made to fit the tiny bed she slept in.

I used polka dots and backed it with flannel and hand quilted it.

Attic Window "Raggedy Ann"

For her 2nd Birthday I made this-

"Sun Bonnet Sue" 

 I was taking a Block of the month class at Hancock Fabrics with Jo Fox and she designed these patterns just for us. I used fabrics leftover from some of her and her moms dresses.

In 2009 I was busy making quilts for all the Grandchildren's birthdays.

I'd made sample blocks for the Block of the Month I taught at our NEW Hancock Fabrics in 2008.

These were left over from those classes.

This is when I learned to really LOVE the Quilter's Shades fabrics. 

These blocks came in monthly kits that were $4.99 and fun to make. 

Here is a link for the Original design. 

I added hourglass blocks to the top and bottom for this version.
