Creative Goodness Friday- It's a Linky Day!!!

It's Strawberry Season!
I had just a few in my 1st picking so PIE was on my Mind.

I haven't always had good luck in making the filling.
It worked this time so I have to share.
I got this recipe from a friend 30+ years ago.

Strawberry Pie
1 Graham Cracker Crust
3 TBL Cornstarch
1 Cup Sugar
 1 cup Water
1 cup Mashed Strawberries + enough Whole Strawberries to fill the Crust.

Mix the Sugar and Cornstarch in a 2 qt saucepan, add the Water and cook until thickened.
Add the Mashed Strawberries and cook until it is desired thickness.
[This time I added a squeeze of Fresh Lemon juice]. Cool.
Pour over strawberries in the Pie Crust. Chill 1 1/2 hours in fridge.
Serve with fresh Whipping cream.

I did get a few Blocks made this week in the Quilt Zone!
My LUS Block of the Week was a fun one to measure the Templates and Rotary cut.
C-5 Crosstitch
I really need those NEW rulers from Creative Grids that make measuring 1/8's easier.

I made 2 Stars in a Time Warp with my "In the Beginning" Fabrics.
It's week 19- Serpentine Stripes like the one on the Left.
I am sharing some of the Striped fabric with my Swap Partner from the Civil War Swap.
Here is Her Quilt, Made & Quilted by Me last week.

It arrived quicker than I anticipated.
She Blogged about it HERE.

Last night I got my Farm Girl Friday Blocks made just in time for week 4
Baking Day and Butter Churn
Today I get to make the Canning Season Block.

Click HERE to join the FUN.

These Grandkids came to Visit with their MOM.
We went to lunch and came home to make Dessert.
Rice Krispies with M & M's
How do you get 4 kids to help?  Just ASK!
It helps that I told them they were making them for Grandpa!
The oldest measured the Rice Krispies & opened the M & M's
The 2nd girl helped the other two count the marshmallows.
The littlest one snitched one of the BIG Marshmallows, Who could resist that?
I stirred it all together and put it in the pan.  We read a little while until it was time to eat them.
It was nice to have them come.

Design Wall Monday 5-11-15

This past week I was busy stitching for some "May for ME" time!
There was a lot of other things going on as well...

I got my Week 2 blocks done for the #farmgirlfriday SAL HERE
Farm Girl Vintage Baby Chick Blocks and Autumn Star
The chicks were SEW fun to make I couldn't just make one.

2 Loyal Union Sampler Blocks were added to the SIDEBAR EQ pic.
I cheated and used the square in the middle for the G-8 Block.
The instructions called for Paper Piecing, you know I find any way to get out of doing THAT!
Check out the Points!!!

On my Portable Design Wall I have 12 Stars in a Time Warp.

I spent an evening Cutting and putting fabrics together.
I have more that I can cut in the 2nd bin of Civil War fabrics.
I've had to re-start on my CW Doll Quilt SWAP Design.
Wait and see what I have come up with...

Mother's day was Good this year.  More in a later posting.

Goodness Happens

I have been busy playing in EQ7 this week, so not much to show in the Business Department.
Did you notice the NEW Blog Header?
My Neice Designed my Logo and the Blog Header for me.

More Love from Friends
The Crain's gave me these flowers and card when I went in to print the
Rubies and Diamonds Pattern this week.

Do you look for Quilts in your Movies and TV Shows?
This one was from "Jumanji" shown on the Family Channel a couple nights ago.

One of the NEW Hallmark Movies had a LOT of Quilts in the scenes!
Camera Phone is being weird and not uploading the pics.
Just watch it and count them.
"Backyard Wedding"

I made the Block of the Week for my Loyal Union Sampler
J-2 Susquehanna
I used my Marti Michell mini Templates to make the parts.
No Paper Piecing for me, YUCK!
Not perfect - but DONE.

I can't Blog today without a BIG THANKS to QuiltShopGal!
This sweet giftie arrived in my Mailbox last week.

Design Wall Monday - August 11, 2014

The Flimsy is DONE
Christen chose the fabric that I had wanted to use for the background. YEA!

 It measures 106"x 99"
I hope it will fit on my Quilting Table sideways.
I'm going to try one of my Feather pantos on it.
Wish me Lots of Luck!

I showed a sneak peek to Milton on Friday.
I just couldn't resist sharing it with him.
That picture was taken when it was getting too dark for pics outside.

Here is the Center before I added the two borders.
I love how the pattern came together just as we wrote it.
Funny how the color is so different outside and inside.
This is what I'm thinking of using for the Backing.
I have a bolt of it so I know there is enough.
What do you think M & C???

I got my Globetrotting Block for August cut out and made Saturday.
This month Pat Sloan took us to Paris, France
Thanks to the 'eagle eyes' of the quilt police on FB - I saw that I spun the blocks
rather than pointing them toward the center.
After some frogging this is how it is supposed to be sewn.

This week's BOW -due August 15th
G-1 Manasses

I'm THAT old!

I started my Birthday earlier than I had planned.  That gave me a chance to call into the Radio Station and try to WIN a Birthday Cake. There were 3 on the list today and we all WON!  Thanks, Morning show Radio DJ's who listen to me every time I call in another Grandchild's B-day.
I don't think I have ever won a cake for myself.
I'll pick it up while we are in town to Celebrate DH's Mother's 90th at the LDS Temple.
Since I hadn't started on my NEW Block of the Month "A-Z for Ewe and Me" yet, I decided to find similar fabrics and get sewing. I had an hour or so before the DMV opened.  YEA, No lines!
I was in contact with a LOT of my family & Friends Via Social Media & even my Answering machine.
I love the sweet voices of my grandchildren talking & singing to me. Thanks for the calls.

These blocks went together so perfectly. It helped to watch the Video Janet Stone did for the QUILT SHOW.  She likes to make block parts big and trim them down.  She says, then you can buy MORE fabric.
I need to do the Alphabet part next.  The month is only half over so there is time and I will have my beloved Bernina back in action by then so I can do the Blanket stitch on the fusible raw edge applique.  Top to bottom clockwise- Army Star, Flying Geese and Grandma's Choice.  I had to dig in my STASH to find some Fushia for the pinwheels. It's more likely just HOT Pink, is that Fushia??

I made Block of the Week for my Blue and White Loyal Union Sampler.
Now I can post it to the Group to be in the running for a PIN.
 C-2 Cotton Boll.
The mail was good to me. These came over the past few days. I got a 1/2 Price DOLL from Paradise Galleries for my Birthday month.  "Be My Valentine" by Marie Osmond. It was a price I couldn't resist! Dairy Queen and Olive Garden giftcards are a welcome thing.  I only wish that my Friend, Wendy was here still to go with me to DQ!
My Fat Quarter Swap buddies chose well and I am Happy, Happy, Happy with these new FQ's to use in my Civil War quilts.  There were only 9 of us who swapped this year. None of these are in any of the blocks so it might get me interested in making them again.  This UFO needs to get FINISHED!

I have two Birthday Buddies in my WARD.  Paul Brought one gift home on Sunday and the other one came by way of the DH, who dropped it off.  I also share the day with a Niece who was born on the day and a Niece who got married on this date. I just saw on FB that my Cousin's Daughter shares the day with me too.
More fun stuff that the mail and FedEx dropped off.
Now I can watch and listen to Mary Poppins.
I got the Cup to remind me of the Mystery I have completed.
DH got home from work early and I caught me napping. He let me sleep, sweet guy that he is. We went to Applebee's to use the gift card we got at Christmastime from the Goodson's.
YUMMIEST Dessert ever- "Triple Chocolate Meltdown". I think that is what they called it.

My evening was spent playing in my Quilt Zone- I need to make room for working on my projects. Every flat surface is covered and the totes are in dire need of re-folding and stacking. I did a bit of laundry too while I was at it.

Time for a Mystery!

Today is the Day the Bonnie Hunter "Celtic Solstice" Mystery Starts HERE!
These are my fabrics- finally-- I decided I NEED another Christmas Quilt.
I swapped out two of the colors and I have only 1 yard of the Background so I will see how far that goes and how big the quilt is when I get to putting blocks together.
Below is the Picture I printed off my Computer.
This helped me decide on the Pink.
I had to go and buy INK so I can print off the clues every Friday.
Mondays I can Link-up with Bonnie and show my Progress.

I made my LUS (Loyal Union Sampler) BOW ( Block of the Week)

AND my Quilty Fun SAL (Sew-Along) Blocks

Now I'm really Ready, I am not setting an alarm.
The clue will be up when it is still dark in the PNW (Pacific Northwest).

I am glad I could get these done after the family left. Not much on TV tonight.
It was a fun day and thanks to Paul taking the week off our house was actually ready for Company.
(At least the upstairs where we ate was)
Organic Pumpkin Pie, Razzleberry and Lemon Meringue Pie
I had to make the Lemon pie in Memory of Paul's Father...
Here I am in my Turkey Apron cutting the Yellow Potatoes with my Vintage Crinkle Cutter that was my Mother's. She got it when she worked at Elmer's in Moses Lake. I like to cut carrots sticks with it too.

NaDell asked for us to take her family Picture outside so she has some to choose from for their annual Christmas Postcard.
Grandma and Grandpa with the Ransom Children and our Thankful Turkey!  Everyone told me what they were thankful for and I wrote them on the feathers. The Grandchildren taped them on the turkey I made.
Just two of the 6 families were able to come and we spoke to the rest in the past few days.
We are so Thankful for each one!!!

Friday, Already...

It's been a tiring week and having the sniffles doesn't help.
I'm trying to play the "GLAD GAME" here, at least it's not snowing like it is on Colorado.
I've put a few miles on the ol' Chevy Lumina this week.
Monday, I drove Wendy to Hermiston to get our hair done
Tuesday was a Stay-home day, YEA
Wednesday I helped Wendy cut out her "Be-Ribboned" quilt,
then drove the Sister Missionaries to Umatilla. They asked to be picked up around 6.
Since I had over an hour to myself, I decided to drive to Kennewick and deliver some overdue Birthday gifts. Here is COY with his towel. He asked for a "black" one.
He likes the "Man in Black" Johnny Cash.
Funny kid, got his Quilt  Pillowcase and towel and said he was coming home with me.
His Mom liked her Birthday gift too and said she almost bought the same thing for herself last week-end.
My luck is Back, I called in these two birthdays and both times they WON the Cake and Photo 8x10 sitting from KORD!   Only one more Daughter by Love Birthday and one more Grandson to make a towel for inn December.  The grandchildren are making requests for next year.  Such helpful hints will be taken under consideration and we will see what I decide for the Birthdays in 2014.
But FIRST, I have to get the 2013 Christmas gifts decided on and made.  I'll have to get them done early since the family won't ALL be coming home for Christmas.  Gotta allow shipping time.

I stopped by to try the crocheted hats on Katie so I could mail some to Rebekah with Christopher's Birthday towel. Today is Christopher's 6th Birthday and his Package is on the way. Opps, I forgot to take a picture of his towel.  I know his mom will take one for me and send it, right, TINA???
Below pic is one of the hats I made. I had to make a few to get to the right size gauge with the hook and yarn I used. It's not exactly like the one Tina sent me pictures of.  I'll keep trying more patterns.
A girl can never have too many hats!!!

I decided that I will make the 5 additional blocks for my ALOHA LUS since it wasn't completed before my trip to see Jennifer.   I made the Block of the Week K-7 Winged Square this week. That makes 2 BOW's for me this week.  Now I have an extra chance for the Elm Creek Pin this month.
Saturday the new BOW is selected and announced on the Yahoo group. Thanks CONNIE!
I tried  taking the picture with my phone to upload it to the yahoo website, it didn't work so great...
Shadows where they don't belong.
DH has been working Long hours, but the end is in sight.  He says he's ready for a road trip and guess when he wants to go??  YEP, the same week as I was supposed to go on Retreat at Royal Ridges in November...oh well, they haven't cashed my check yet and I e-mailed so she can take me off the list. I think going to see Grandchildren takes priority over a Retreat.  It would have been nicer to go the first week of the month. The weatherman is not being nice and I'm afraid we might get caught in some SNOW...

Wednesday- WOW

What am I Working on Wednesday???
(WOW)
I sewed up all of the Midnight Flight Blocks because I didn't have room to trim my
Sarah's Choice Stars Swap Quilt to add the borders to it.
Posted the question PINK or BLUE for the inner border to the FB and now I have a different plan to make a pieced border for this quilt.  Bonnie's pattern has 145 of these units and I know I don't want to do those...
They would have a pink on one end and blue on the other.  That is a Lot of cutting sewing and trimming off the Bonus triangles.  I already have a ziplock bag FULL of them from the center of the quilt.
I used my Marti Michell "A" Templates and sewed up my Block of the Week for my
B & W Loyal Union Sampler.  Gotta upload it still.

LASTLY I'm re-testing this pattern and helping my Friend make it in soft pastel colors.
I'm taking my GO Baby Cutter over to cut it all out with her this AM.
The Flower is different using the Round Flower DIE.
I don't know how to import the Go Die image into the EQ7, Help!!!???
We picked the colors out at Auntie Ida's when we went to Hermiston for the Haircut and Dye jobs.
So what are you working on???  Anything that you can show?
Christmas is coming and I know there are a LOT of Secret Projects out there.
