Friday FUN- OMG Goal Achieved!

I got the OMG quilt off  "Betsy" Thursday evening! Yahoo!!!
I love how it quilted up.
I quilted my Meadering Feathers all over it
(except for the last 6")
The last border has Buttercup feather border quilted one repeat at a time...
Betsy was being finicky again- restarting itself for no good reason.
I used a Fairfield 80/20 batting.
Final measurement is 66"x 66"
Just need to add the Binding and Label.
I started this SAL with Fat Quarter shop & Lori Holt in 2013.

My Grand Illusion is back on "Betsy".
It was on "Betsy" 31st of August last year HERE.

It's not easy to re-attach the layers after taking it off the frame.
I have 18+ TBQ in the tote.
I feel the need to get them finished so I can start something new at Retreat later.
I'm thinking of using the same pattern "Alfresco" as I used on my Gum Paper Jumble.
I just haven't seen anything else that has screamed at me to buy it.
If you have a suggestion I'm open to it.

That's all for now.  I'll continue with more from Quilt Market next week.
I still have the Quilts that were shown from Houston (I think),
Schoolhouse and the Loot from Sample Spree.

Design Wall Monday- March 2, 2015

The last week of February started with no Places to go.
Between all the short and long trips out of the house I did SEW a little.
Monday stitching out at Thread and Bolts, I got my Sparkly, Purple Sewing Machine made.

Snapshots Block #2
"Sew On & Sew On"

Why not a Sparkly Purple one with music needle and throat plate.
The fabrics are humming though my Machine!
I learned that I really Need to get those "Alphabitties" from the Fat Quarter Shop.

Pat gave us an EARLY Block again for the VACATION TIME Block of the Month HERE!!!

"Surf's Up"

I used the other fun Novelty fabric for this one and a bit of that fabric that looked like sand.

It was tricky getting those directional Background pieces to all go in the right direction, WHEW!
Note to self: Don't BUY Background Neutrals with Directional designs on them...

Can't show Pictures just yet,
Samples and Demos are getting stitched up for March and April.
I found another directional Background that I ran out of for the Quilt Guild Lotto Block.
None to be found anywhere... insert sad face.

Borders on my Sample that isn't a Class at Sew & Vac and Spas- yet
I'm calling this one
"Baby POP Beads"
Front                                         Back
Size: 32" x 40"
Made from those leftover HST's that I turned into Hourglass units. (Shown last DWM)
Does it remind you of the plastic toys we used to give to our babies to play with back in  1970's??
Thread and Bolts  "The Heartbeat of Quilting" Sale had the Perfect fabric for the border.

My Grand Illusion is a Flimsy!
I had to buy more Yellow, but that's ok.

I changed my mind again about adding more Blocks to make it square.
2014 Grand Illusion Mystery is DONE!
Finshed size: 59" x 74"

Grand Illusion Mystery Linky Party- January 31, 2015

My Quiltville Mystery has two smaller quilts put together instead of only 1.
I need more Quilts in the cupboard that fit a Twin bed.
These are still waiting for me to sew the blocks together.
Bonnie is doing a LINKY party HERE.
If you read the post HERE, you know WHY these are still waiting.

#1

#2
I've had suggestions from my Blogging buddies to add some Black cornerstones and some Green.
We shall see, this one will hang out for a little while more.

#2 - Option 2
My single Black block in this option, got a big ol' thumbs down, so it will get Un-sewn.

I finally got a copy of the Video "Somewhere in Time" so I can watch it now.
Bonnie chose her colors from the Grand Hotel - The Movie is set at the Grand Hotel.

It's been a fun one with lots of different color ways and changes all over the World. Go check out all the LINKs over at Quiltville.  HERE's the linky again.

Design Wall Monday- January 19, 2015

The weather outside was rainy and cold on Saturday, no where special to be.
I spent the day in the Basement.
I made two more 30's blocks for my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.
Total now is 53

My 2014 Quiltville Mystery has been sitting around waiting and waiting
for me to make a final decision for what to do with it.
Saturday was the day to GET IT Figured out.
I got the reamaining 13 blocks together in the way the pattern was designed by Bonnie Hunter.
I decided after all the quandry that I wanted to at least do 1/2 of the original quilt.
Here it Quilt #1 laid out, with and without the borders-
ready to finish sewing it all together.
It's growing on me-
I like it much better now that I can see it together with the borders laid out.
I hope to get it done by the time Bonnie does another Monday Link-up.

With 9 of the rest of the blocks I can do this...
Which one is better?
With or without the black center block.

I think it needs another border,
I can use the extra parts of the original border.
OR... add some Pink, Black or Purple to it.

Distracted again by Jenny

Jenny Doan has done it again.  See her NEW tutorial on the Disappearing Hourglass 2 HERE.

I should be making Christmas gifts for the Family gathering tomorrow.
I had to go downstairs and get my DOWNTON ABBEY Fabrics and try this Block out.
I used it for a Leader/Ender of the Grand Illusion this morning.
I think these are from the "Mary" line

The NEW Clue for the Quiltville Grand Illusion Mystery is ready to sew too.
Link is HERE.
I FINALLY got all of the Clue 2 Parts all made and trimmed.

Ready - Set - CUT & SEW!!!
Here are Broken Dishes Blocks 2 & 3 for Clue 4

Back to the Christmas Gifts... Kids and Grandkids are coming...
Did you miss a Posting on Wednesday?

I didn't have anything I could show-
I was busy trying to get our Christmas Newsletter out and making more of my Truffles with DD #2

I forgot to show these cuties with thier ornaments in Wyoming.

Tina knew how to make my day, Her daughter is wearing the crocheted Dress I made for her and I got to make and dress the Baby that morning.

I got some goodies from my Blogging Quilter friend, my Illinois Friend and my Quilt Buddy.

From Janet O
Goodies from Lynn
I haven't opened the gift from my friend Wendy.
The wrapping was torn and I know what it is though.  LOL

It's a good day, I just got news I WON a Giveaway over HERE

Mystery Monday Link-up and DWM- December 15, 2014

I am doing pretty good at getting my Mystery stitching in.   Thanks to BONNIE for giving us an easier clue this week. She said to chceck the measurement of the strip set. so I did!

The June Taylor strip cutting ruler worked for cutting the strips quick
after sewing them together.

Most of the fabrics for half of the strips came from my Scrap Users system Strips and Block totes

I need a few more greens for variety

Here is part of each clue on my Design board.
How will we assemble these for "real" in the Quilt???

I got half of the Hst's from Clue 1 trimmed and more of Clue 2

Have to "rippit" this one...opps!

Design Wall Monday/ 2014 Mystery Link-up - December 8,2014

It's Link-up time at my house.
I haven't gotten as much done on the Mystery with the busy-ness of the Holiday.
I'm loving my colors for these.
Black and "Barbie" pink.
I had to get more Neutrals for variety.
Here is my first Double diamond as I've heard it called.
I'm very familiar with the 'dreaded chevron'.
I made several already this year with the Celtic Solstice and Midnight Flight.
It's these blocks that give such movement to the patterns.
I am not afraid of them.
These are all going in the same direction so there isn't the confusing Uphill and Downhill.
I enjoy the bonus triangles and stitching these flip and sew style.
Bonnie's #3 method.
She has shown multiple techniques for us to use to achieve perfect block parts.
THANKS sew Much, BONNIE!!

Here are all my block parts so far.
I have lots more cutting and stitching to do before Friday.

It's my Busy week of the year with Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Quilt Guild Potluck, a Lacey Lacers Potluck and Nutcracker coming to keep me away from my stitching.
I have gifts and Ornaments to get finished up that aren't being seen on here yet.
Our Relief Society at Church gathered last Saturday for Brunch to start off the Christmas Season.
I requested a Picture with two friends to take a picture with me to send to our Friend; Wendy
who moved away to far-off Chicago!

I have heard the great news that I WON the NewFO Lapel Pin for November HERE
Thanks so much Barbara!

Christmas Decorating is on hold as well.
I bought a Live Wreath from my Grandson's in Kennewick.
I added some blue LED lights that are battery operated.

New Mystery Fabrics

I haven't found the paint chips yet but I think I've decided on my colors for the
2014 Grand Illusion Mystery over at Quiltville.com

What do you think?
Since I really don't have any Turquoise Aqua in my stash I went with the Purple in it's place.
I found the Yellow and bought a big piece of the Black so I don't have the same problem as I did with the Easy Street Mystery.  It was way too BUSY with all the scrappy Blacks.
I will be able to use whatever size strips from my Scrap Savers totes that match these too.
I may have to take out the Purple piece with the yellow dot.
Now to just wait for the day after Thanksgiving now.

I picked up a New-to-me Quilt Book at Guild Mtg,
This book reminds me of my Quilt Mentor- Jo Fox.
I'm so glad I could bring it home.

FYI---The Voting is still going on over HERE for the Red & White Challenge Quilts.
Next Friday the Blogger's Quilt Festival Begins!!!
