Lori Holt's Quilty Fun SAL

I told myself that I needed to have the Borders completely done so I could take this Quilty Fun SAL
as a Flimsy, at least...when I meet Lori in Utah
The wind was blowing and it wasn't easy to get this up to take a decent photo.

I had to cut a Square from the border Fabric and add it to the end of the border that was already attached.  No miters would work for this, I tried!  :(
When I took it out to show Lynn, she noticed a few fabrics too close to the same spot shown below.
See that Tree block and the top right Honeycomb plus two down is the same as the Leaf next to it.
I spent some time with my friend the "frogger"  and got it fixed.
There wasn't any more time left to load and quilt it by then so this is how I will show it to her.

--- Tonight is the night.  I am attending her Trunk Show and Lecture in Midway Utah.
I had a full slate of Trunk Shows on Thursday.
One with Riley Blake and one with Natalia and her Mom: Kathleen.

I am so excited to get to meet these "famous" Quilter/Bloggers that I've been following.
There will be more pictures to share when I get home from my V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!
My Star & Crown won 3rd place!

Design Wall Monday June 16, 2014

I need to cut out my Loyal Union Sampler Block BOW this AM and get the final border
on this quilt. The Mitering didn't work out right and I really want to have the corners go all the way around.
I'm going to add some to the strips, hoping it will work this time.

Bindings, Bindings, Bindings
Here are the 6 quilts I need to tack down Bindings for the LQS.
I had to trim 3, and make the bindings for them.
2 are already finished, they were small. :)
These will mean a bit more spending money while I'm at the
Small Town Quilt Show in a Big Town Way.

I have started reading this book by Ann Hazelwood.
It's the 4th in her AQS series.

Not much else going on besides strawberry picking and getting packed to go away for a week.
I'll have more to show when I get back.
I'm so excited to meet so many of the UTAH 'Famous' quilters.

Design Wall Monday- May 19, 2014

I think I found the right Border fabric for my Quilty Fun SAL out at "Thread and Bolts"
It's pastel and has Pink and Blue.
But- oh my, the Plaids have my eyes going crossed.
I had to cut down one of the blue lines so they would at least look a little Straight.

To Miter or NOT???---That is my Question today

I have had the suggestion to add a square to fit in the corners too.  HST? or 4-patch?
I want to get this one to the Flimsy stage this week.

BOW from last week is done- not perfect- but DONE!
I should have worked on my BOW for this week...it's another one that looks harder than it is.
I'm still working on getting the binding on my Celtic Solstice.
I cut 8 strips...guess I shoulda, coulda cut 9!

Shameless PLUG!!!!

Design Wall Monday - April 21,2014

I have been playing catch-up with my LUS BOW blocks
This past week I made the current BOW
Another one using the square in a squares. What a difference fabric placement makes.
B-5 Chambersburg

Double Z

and had a bit of an Opps on my "Best Friend"
did a little 'froggin'  and re-cutting of Hsts to get it right.
The first Hst's I trimmed down too small.
A-8 Best Friend

After froggin' I needed to make a simpler Block
I found it amusing that it was chosen for the BOW this past Saturday.
Guess I was thinking right with Connie this week.
 C-9 Double 4-patch
I have updated the EQ7 Chart on the sidebar, too.
I found I had a couple blocks in the wrong places. OOPS!

Friday night- DH; Paul was gone on a 11 yr old scout camp-out and clean-up at Teancum Timbers.
It was a SEW-in Night for me and I sewed as long as I could keep my eyes open.
I got the center of my Quilty Fun SAL put together with 3 of the 4 borders.
I cut out 48 scrappy prints from my 30's stash and 104 1.5" background squares.
I got them all sewn Friday evening and was happily surprised that they all fit together 'perfectly'!!!
Lori calls the pieced border 'postage stamp'.
I used it on Katie's Choice HERE.  I thought it looked like a ruffle then.
 Testing border fabrics.  Any opinions???

I've been trying to get "Betsy" to work again.
I finally got it to stitch a bit, but look at those stitches... UGGGG!
you should see the underside  - More froggin'

Since I was frustrated, I just decided to get the binding on my SBS Christmas Swap from 2009
nothing like a bit of hand stitching to calm me down.
I bought some bigger hanging clips to use on my hanging rod outside.
BIG THANKS to DH for helping get them hung for their 'glamour' shots.
The "Chantilly Lace" quilting isn't the best work from ol' Betsy but it will do.
I should have just used it as an Edge to Edge.
I wish there was a way I could label each block as to the maker, oh well!

I added the siggy squares to the top of the back as the hanging sleeve.
YEA! it's all done now.
Here's one of my siggy squares left over from the WASIQ Siggy Swap used for my label.
I just changed the year and added to it, framed it and stitched it down.
It was a Busy week-end and despite "Betsy" giving me fits. I did accomplish some stuff.
I get so tired of being frustrated with my quilting machine :(

I want to make a TULA quilt!

The stacks of cut-off pieces called to me.
Dolly Quilts in the making.

Design Wall Monday- March 17, 2014

It should be a GREEN post today... Happy St Patricks' Day!!!

My Quilty Fun SAL was on the Design Floor last Friday when  I took this picture.

I have since sewn the right side together in waiting for the last part to be sewn on this week .
It will be the Flowers. that will go in the lower right corner!
I looked closer at the Picture and saw that the center Butterfly is turned,
so I un-sewed it before I sewed that side together.
Next week it will be the BEE for the middle part. Then it's Border-Time!  YEA! Almost all done!!!

I have been watching THE QUILT SHOW and want to share another

My week-end wasn't spent at my Quilt Zone.
I feel a little like Martha, from the Bible, I chose the better part.
I spent time with these two Beautiful Daughters at my first TIMEOUT FOR WOMEN.
My Oldest Daughter and Daughter-by-love!

Friday Evening we were entertained by the Men's harmony of "Hudson Lights"
The speakers Barbara Thompson, Laurel C Day, Mariama Kallon, Jill Manning, Robert Millet,
Wendy Ulrich, and Emily Freeman were great.
The music of Hillary Weeks brought both Christen and I to tears many times on Saturday.
One song just made us smile!  It's HERE on youtube.
I will have to suggest tissues in the bags they handout at this event.
NaDell took pictures for us.
My Sister, Roma and I
Christen, Barbara Thompson and I

We had a fun time and I fell asleep listening to their giggles.
I am a Happy Mom just thinking about it.
We came away refreshed and wanting to share the weekend with the rest of the

I saw many friends from all the places I've lived.   Hugs and smiles all around.

Design Wall/Floor Monday March 3, 2014

It was a week-end for the BLUES!
I was Blue because I didn't get to go to my Uncles Funeral-
The Blue Mountains were predicted to be un-passable for me to go.
So I spent the day cutting and sewing the "blues" away.

Each of these Block of the Week and Block of the Month projects have their own tote and I have the printouts in a binder.
That is HOW I can keep track of each one.

Loyal Union Sampler BOW
C-3 Crosses and Losses

The new Block for the "Globetrotting" BOM was ready for printing on Friday.
I got it done on Saturday.
It' the Block Pat Sloan calls "Chicago"

I got all the directional lines going the same way!!
Here the blocks as they will be placed in the Quilt.

My other Block of the Month made the March blocks available on Saturday.
I hadn't made the February blocks all the way so here they are.
L-R: Basket, Colorado Beauty and Duck and Ducklings
