July is HOT, HOT, HOT!

It's been a long time since the Heat arrived.  We have had over 13 of 14 days of over 100 degree Temps here in SE Washington setting records.
The tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans are producing well and loving the heat.
What is the best place to be?
In my Basement...but I have had to leave the coolness and take to the road
in my car with the AC blasting.

I called my Hairdresser, Niece and she had an opening yesterday.
I love how she gives me the 'Royal Treatment"

I picked up the 2 Kits from the Tri-Cities Quilt Shops
Now I can start without having to pick fabrics.

2015 Row by Row is happening June 21 through September 8th.
Are you collecting patterns???
You can collect Rows and pick up kits and the fabric License Plates.
I might get a quilt made before next week- who knows.
Quiltmania hasn't had a winner, YET!

I did do some stitching on my 2014 A-Z Block of the Month.
K- Block
"Kansas Star"

I used my 'D' Set of Marti Michell Templates to make this one.
M- Block
"Mayflower"
My Guild friend, Barb challenged me at the Retreat to make two blocks a week and get this DONE.
Challenge accepted!

It's the 40th Anniversary of the Sister's Outdoor Quilt Show
I had plans to go but as things go somedays- my plans changed.
There are fun classes and I see on social media that Tula Pink and Sarah Fielke are teaching there.

Design Wall/Floor Monday April 7,2014

Bonnie Hunter had a giveaway of her New Book and the latest QM Magazine this past week.

Deonn Stott and Quilty Pleasures  are giving away the magazine some Riley Blake Fat Q's,
the Ruler to make the Lamb Quilt and a CD of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
I would be Happy to win any one of these Giveaways even though
I already have the book and the Magazine.
The magazine got me thinking of Spring and Lambs and such...
This Cute Lamb quilt will be added to my New Fo's after July, (since I only posted NewFO's until July)
Brant & Tina went to visit in Tri-Cities the day before they went home.
I sewed all day while they were gone.

My 2 Block of the Month quilts were on my AGENDA!

First the A-Z for EWE and Me from The Quilt Show HERE.
The E- Block is Eight Hands Around
J- Block is called Janet's Lamb
When I first saw the quilt I wondered why the "J" was a Lamb!???
I thought Jumping Lamb...J- for Jesus, the Lamb of God with the Sun being the "Son of God".
All these things made me think of Easter and Christ's Resurrection.
I think the Lamb is a great representation for the J this month.

Here are all the Blocks so far and a picture of the April Blocks.
Check- 1 BOM done for the Month!

Next up the Globetrotting BOM with Pat Sloan HERE.
I wondered where we were going for April.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
LOTS of hst's for this one.
I'm loving making these in my same, scrappy Blues as my LUS BOW.
2 Blocks of the Month projects up to date- I'm Ready for May!

End of March Report & Design Wall Monday - March 31, 2014

The Block of the week was posted early so I got it done and added it to the  EQ7 chart.
I changed the extra Massachusetts in there too. I like the darker version.
 F-1 Indiana
Made with sparkly Fairy Frost and Background fabric.
I'm happy to keep up with all of my BOW's, BOM's and SAL's
 A-Z for Ewe and Me
The new Blocks go LIVE tomorrow HERE.
E and J

My Globetrotting BOM has a new Block to add tomorrow too.

We've been to Washington DC, Chicago and Venice- Where will Pat Sloan takes us next??

The final part ( Borders) of the Quilty Fun SAL is available today HERE

I had some Free STASH Cash so I got some of TULA PINK's new fabric; Fox Field
and a few FQ's of her older stuff

I will have fun fussy cutting these birds, bunnies and foxes.
After meeting her and seeing her Quilt Show episode during National Quilting Weekend...
I want to make a TULA quilt!

I played with some L/E pieces to make Hour glass blocks.
The stacks of cut-off pieces called to me.
Dolly Quilts in the making.

I'm THAT old!

I started my Birthday earlier than I had planned.  That gave me a chance to call into the Radio Station and try to WIN a Birthday Cake. There were 3 on the list today and we all WON!  Thanks, Morning show Radio DJ's who listen to me every time I call in another Grandchild's B-day.
I don't think I have ever won a cake for myself.
I'll pick it up while we are in town to Celebrate DH's Mother's 90th at the LDS Temple.
Since I hadn't started on my NEW Block of the Month "A-Z for Ewe and Me" yet, I decided to find similar fabrics and get sewing. I had an hour or so before the DMV opened.  YEA, No lines!
I was in contact with a LOT of my family & Friends Via Social Media & even my Answering machine.
I love the sweet voices of my grandchildren talking & singing to me. Thanks for the calls.

These blocks went together so perfectly. It helped to watch the Video Janet Stone did for the QUILT SHOW.  She likes to make block parts big and trim them down.  She says, then you can buy MORE fabric.
I need to do the Alphabet part next.  The month is only half over so there is time and I will have my beloved Bernina back in action by then so I can do the Blanket stitch on the fusible raw edge applique.  Top to bottom clockwise- Army Star, Flying Geese and Grandma's Choice.  I had to dig in my STASH to find some Fushia for the pinwheels. It's more likely just HOT Pink, is that Fushia??

I made Block of the Week for my Blue and White Loyal Union Sampler.
Now I can post it to the Group to be in the running for a PIN.
 C-2 Cotton Boll.
The mail was good to me. These came over the past few days. I got a 1/2 Price DOLL from Paradise Galleries for my Birthday month.  "Be My Valentine" by Marie Osmond. It was a price I couldn't resist! Dairy Queen and Olive Garden giftcards are a welcome thing.  I only wish that my Friend, Wendy was here still to go with me to DQ!
My Fat Quarter Swap buddies chose well and I am Happy, Happy, Happy with these new FQ's to use in my Civil War quilts.  There were only 9 of us who swapped this year. None of these are in any of the blocks so it might get me interested in making them again.  This UFO needs to get FINISHED!

I have two Birthday Buddies in my WARD.  Paul Brought one gift home on Sunday and the other one came by way of the DH, who dropped it off.  I also share the day with a Niece who was born on the day and a Niece who got married on this date. I just saw on FB that my Cousin's Daughter shares the day with me too.
More fun stuff that the mail and FedEx dropped off.
Now I can watch and listen to Mary Poppins.
I got the Cup to remind me of the Mystery I have completed.
DH got home from work early and I caught me napping. He let me sleep, sweet guy that he is. We went to Applebee's to use the gift card we got at Christmastime from the Goodson's.
YUMMIEST Dessert ever- "Triple Chocolate Meltdown". I think that is what they called it.

My evening was spent playing in my Quilt Zone- I need to make room for working on my projects. Every flat surface is covered and the totes are in dire need of re-folding and stacking. I did a bit of laundry too while I was at it.
