Design Wall Monday- August 1,2016 Goals & OMG

It's a Bye, Bye to July!!!

July Goals
1- Finish my Row by Row quilt -OMG - DONE
2- Make Guild Lotto Blocks -DONE x 8
3- Catch up on 1930's Farmer's Wife -Nope

Block count was aided by a Marathon sewing day on Saturday!
I didn't get my stitches in much during the week so Saturday I hit the "Quilt Zone' with a purpose!
First up was my Bonus Block for My Secret Garden.
Pat had us make the 1st Block again with the colors moved and changed around.
It was fun to play again with this BIG Block.
Lots of Hst's to make it and my Tucker Trimmer got a workout!
 Here are all the Blocks
August Block came out this morning HERE

Next it was my Tiny Temecula Circa 2016 Block of the Week x 2
"Formal Garden" is found HERE
I have 4 more sets of 2 to get sewn and a bunch of HST's that measure 1.5".
Again my Tucker Trimmer came in handy!

I got more Hourglass blocks made between the stitches.
I haven't decided how I will put them together yet.

I will have a constant of the white or Off white in each block.
I don't want another quilt like my Scrappy Bow Tie.
It had no place to rest your eyes.

Secret Sewing continued and added to my Block count.
I wondered how to calculate the blocks in my Row by Row.
I decided with help from  Susan @ 'Desert sky Quilting' if there were separate blocks for a row,
they counted.
I didn't count the Blocks I made for the "Beach Quilt" this month.

Total Blocks = 144

August Goals and my One Monthly Goal
1- More Secret Stitching - maybe it will be a "Mystery" quilt for Sew n Vac.
2- Circa 2016 Temecula Blocks
3- August "My Secret Garden' Block of the Month
4- Guild Lotto Blocks, Put my version together and quilt it.
4- Cut LOTS of Hourglass units and Secret Blocks to sew at Retreat and Fair.

So, I have chosen my OMG .
It will be ...
'Windy City Stars'
DD # 1 said she loved this one and I should finish it when I posted my TBQ's HERE.

Design Wall Monday - July 25, 2016

My week ended with some Stitching between Baseball games and our Pioneer BBQ.
More tiny Temecula Blocks are on the Wall.

I thought I was caught up, then I looked at the rest of the blocks from late June that I hadn't done.
I still have 4 more sets of 2 to sew.
Finished HST's at 1 1/2" are so tiny!
I always have to check twice to make sure my Friendship Star is going right, LOL

My hope of getting a Quilt on "Betsy" didn't materialize.

I did sew a few more of the Guild Lotto Blocks.
Last week I had 3 more to go HERE.

I sewed them and looked again, only to find 1 more that needs different fabrics.
These Blues and Yellows just scream out, "Look at Me"

I have enjoyed re-making these Lotto Blocks with a constant set of fabrics.
The Alphabet background, Red American Brand, Yellow Shadow Play,
Blue with dots and splotches, and Toyko Green.
I'll add the extra blocks to the stack for Guild Charity quilts.

My Block count for July is growing!
I got a few Leader/ Ender Blocks sewn between the stitches too.
I'm cutting these from 2 1/2" strips so they are 4 1/2" now.
Love that Companion angle!

I'll save posting the final Picture when this quilt is in the Fair or Quilt Show.
My Judge might see the Picture...

Design Wall Monday - June 13, 2016

I was grounded for the weekend, happily though because that meant I didn't have to be anywhere.
Thanks to the DD #2 and her Hubby for the rides to the last Baseball games this week! :)
Thursday evening games were in our favor, not so much the Friday game.
But Grandson J got to pitch the final inning.
The picture on the left shows the happy cousins celebrating the BIG Inter-city Tournament Win.
Look at the size of that Trophy!

I played with my Circa 2016 mini blocks all week and got them all caught up with
Friday Night Sew-in- while Kathy in Canada sewed with her friends.
Now to get the 120 Hst's all done between the stitching.

Since Paul was gone I had time to cut and sew 5 of my 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks too.
Poppy was a BIG Pain to make - I see now that I turned the hst's in the wrong.
I also lost a few points... I will be re-making this one.
Mrs Anderson was made back in March. I ran out of the green with the lambs and little biy
so I saved it to finish later.  Had to use a different green.
I think that is what the Farmer's Wife would have done in the 1st place.

Mrs Anderson                                     Judy
Doris                                            Lady
That was a LOT of cutting so I chose an easy one to make last- Lady!
It was good to have Marti's reminder about Mirror image placement on the corners.
I have 10 more to catch up on...

Saturday afternoon was QuiltCam over at Quiltville.
You can watch it HERE
I decided it was time to share my
Finished Grand Illusion with Bonnie LIVE!
Off the Porch beneath the Hydrangeas and in front of my little gardener statue from Marge.
I miss her every time I look out and she's not there watering her flowers.

Beside the statue is a solar flower I got for Mother's day from DD #2.
I forgot to show it.

Bonnie made my day with her kind words.

I always try to stay positive in my comments.
Sometimes I'm called "Pollyanna"

Hope it's a good day to start out the first full week of Summer for my Grandchildren
and my Blog Followers too.

It's a Good day in Blogland---Linking up HERE

Friday- Circa 2016

It's about time I got more blocks made for my Circa 2016.
The hour glass blocks aren't hard to make, just had to get them cut out!

Last week was Rail Fence Blocks.

The week before Bow Tie Blocks.

When DH asks me to find him more shirts I don't hesitate long.
It's fun to see how many I can get half off with the Color of the week.
The bottom one is PURPLE!
I see quilt blocks in these shirts I got for the DH.
How long before they wear out enough for him to request more?? lol

Friday- Circa 2016

I have a few more Hourglass Blocks and other 3" blocks to make to catch -up.
Here's my wall right now.

Today we get to make 3" BowTies.
They are the same size as the ones I made for Leader/ Ender Bowtie quilt 2011.

Circa 2016 link is HERE

It's Mother's Day Weekend and I am thinking of my Mother, gone way too long &
Paul's Mother gone just a few months ago.
She always looked for the Rainbows in the sky.
I saw a glow from my window and had to go outside to look.
This Double Rainbow looked like it was coming out of my backyard tree.
You can see the tiny statue under it that belonged to my Neighbor, Marge.
I wanted it to remember her out in her garden.
I miss her, too.
We'll be making the Pilgrimage up to the Cemetary to decorate the graves.
Roses and Peonies are blooming just in time.

 Happy Mother's Day
to all my Blogging friends!

Friday Fun!

It's FRIDAY!!!!
I finally have a day with NO where to go and I can sew!
I have a Bunch of small Blocks to make, and a few Big Blocks too.

I need to make a bunch of Circa mini blocks.
Last week included directions HERE to make 120 2" hst's

Here are last weeks blocks and 2 bonus hst's
More hst's are needed to make todays blocks HERE

I cut a bunch of 2 1/2" strips and 2" strips to use the easy angle on.

This Itty Bitty eights ruler helps make accurate cuts.
I WILL get the little blocks caught up. Strips pre-cut will make it easier to do.

I challenged my Granddaughters to make 4-patches after they finished their quilt tops last week.
E got into it and is way ahead of me.  I took a picture of hers, but it blurred.
To make it fair...
I have to make mine on the Treadle.

I promised more pictures from the Tri-Cities Quilt Show.
The Winning Quilts are listed on the website HERE.

It was fun to see all of these Quiltville mysteries hanging in the Show!

Even one of this last year's "Allitare" Mystery!

This one isn't one of Bonnie's...I had to put my hand there to show how tiny these Bow ties were.
They were Paper-pieced.

There's a Quilt Show in Moscow, but I don't think I'll make it there...sorry Julie can't go on Saturday.
Have a great Weekend!
It's looking like Spring around here.

I caught this Rainbow last night after the Grandson's Baseball Game.
I posted it on FB with this comment...
"My Mother by love always looked for the Rainbow! I like to think she was peeking in on Jackson's game tonight."

Keep looking for the rainbows in life!
