Tired on Tuesday...Quilt Festival Winners

 I didn't want to get out of Bed this morning.

Hubby was up and gone to the Temple before I was awake.

What a Long Day on Monday.

I went to Tri-Cities for Guild and stopped to shop a little.

It took 2 hours to drive home from Pasco, road was closed at the Junction.

Had to turn around and follow a Truck all the way to Touchet.

'Nough Said...lol

She'll be at the Spokane show vending so we'll see her there.

Happy Fri-Yay! QUILT FESTIVAL TIME!

I got to help pin Quilts together with sleeves between to go over the Poles.

It works good when the quilts match up.

My Rhododendron Trail 

This one is too tall for this space.

I asked if it could be moved to a taller pole.

I hate how they folded it up, it looks bad!

Wildflower Challenge

This it's Reveal here, too.

The Festival is Friday and Saturday!

That means I won't be getting my stitches in this weekend unless it's after the day is over.

I got the Quilt Guild Raffle Quilt back to

Sew the borders on.

It could take a while or go real quick.

Here are the choices...

At the Lori Holt Day I worked on these 3 blocks.

I messed up on the cutting out so had to finish them at home in the afternoon.

Hurray, time for the sashing and putting the Quilt together Row by Row!

Wednesday night I stayed up stitching these 6" blocks.

They are from the Vintage Christmas Book by Lori Holt.

I had the Layer cake left over from the Christmas Fat Quarter Shop SAL

Called "Evergreen", it's a MODA line by Sherri and Chelsi.

We'll see how long the Layer Cake lasts to make these blocks.

They are fun.

This Tulip Block is for our Outgoing

Quilt Guild President this year.

She requested Lori Holt Blocks in 6" size.

I hope she likes it.

Name Dropping Again!

I'm such a fan!

Marie Bostwick came to visit our local Quilt Guild.

Been waiting all year for her visit.

Her new book is a page turner.

 I was on the front row. Of course.

I have a few chapters left.

All of my Books are signed, I had to wait until the end.

If you go to her website there is a tab that says 'Goodies',  recipes and free 

Quilt Patterns to download. 

That Caramel cake was rich and delicious!

I spent the day doing what I needed to do.

Not my favorite to do hems and replace Zippers.

Hubby's newest suit needed a zipper.

It required taking out about 5 seams, ug!!

So glad that is done!

I also did some hemming for a friend who's daughter is having a destination 

wedding in Jamaica soon.

6 blouses, 3 lined dresses.

While I had the serger out I fix one of mine.

So the tally was 13 hems that were measured, pinned, cut and serged, then hemmed 

with a straight stitch.

I only had to buy one spool of Pink thread.

Didn't have one to match close enough

 in my Thread Stash, lol.

Today is the Lori Holt Day! 

Time to make those last 3 Blocks.

Got them all cut and then found I had already cut the Colored parts for the Milk Cow. Uh oh!

Changed it up a little with the fussy cutting of the background fabric. 

Can't wait til you see it.

We chose the Borders for the Guild Raffle Quilt before listening to Marie. 

That got me started on my own Farm Girl 

Vintage 2 quilt July 19...

I didn't grow up a Farm girl but I did visit

many farms as a young girl. 

And I married a Farmer!

Tomorrow we set up the Quilt Festival. 

I was asked to show the new ladies how to Pin the leaders between two quilts.

Guess I am the professional at pinning.

Happy to help.

No Temple day this week.

It's the anniversary of the Day we had our first bouncing baby boy 👶.

I Remember...

I remember!  I was not in New York City, Washington DC, or Pennsylvania...but my heart broke for those who suffered because of where they were that morning.  I was alone in my house in Burbank glued to the Television.  My 2nd son; Joseph and his wife; Kori had just returned from Seattle on their Honeymoon to see a Mariner's game.  I thought about how lucky that they were not stranded in Seattle.  All of the Airports had their planes grounded for days after.  Who knew if there would be more attacks.  

In the 22 years since I've seen as the brave Young men and Soldiers have come and gone as they were deployed to fight in foreign lands.  I was proud of those from my family that chose to be Soldiers.  I didn't want Jeffery to enlist a few years later but he felt such patriotism, that he told me he was enlisting and there wasn't anything I could do about it.

The Song; The Star Spangled Banner's last verse says:

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

This is what we heard at our LDS General Conference the Month after the attacks:

Regarding September 11th, I believe President Gordon B. Hinckley said it best in his October 2001 General Conference address: 

“Peace may be denied for a season…But God our Eternal Father will watch over this nation and all of the civilized world who look to him…Our safety lies in repentance. Our strength comes from obedience to the commandments of God.

“Let us be prayerful. Let us pray for righteousness. Let us pray for the forces of good. Let us reach out to help men and women of goodwill, whatever their religious persuasion and wherever they live. Let us stand firm against evil, both at home and abroad. Let us live worthy of the blessings of heaven, reforming our lives where necessary and looking to him, the Father of us all. He has said, 'Be still, and know that I am God'."

I've been told when the Prophet speaks the Debate is over.  I'm grateful to be able to go to Church today and worship in this Free country, the United States of America.  There is a Prophet on the Earth today and he speaks for the Lord in our Day.  His name is Russel M. Nelson.  President Boyd K. Packer invoked a blessing on us as parents in the States of Washington and Alaska to whom he spoke in our Stake Conference, 10 years after 9-11 via Satellite Broadcast from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm so grateful for this Blessing today.

 I know it's a bit late to be starting this Project...

The Challenge Quilt didn't get done early, but I still have a day to play.

I woke up this morning with this thought in my head.

A picture from our Mission reminded me...

I think it was Morning Glory, that's what Paul called it.

It was like a weed to me.

Growing wild so I had to remove it.

That fits the theme.

We stopped by the Israelson's in Burbank on our way home last night.

Hawaii with Julie's family.

We had a yummy dinner with them before driving the rest of the way home on the back roads.

I don't think Harvey Shaw Road was quicker than getting back on Hwy 12.

I took this picture of my long Cucumbers.

I picked a few more last night.

The neighbor drove up the driveway as I was going around the car with the Cucumbers.

I asked if she wanted some. of course!

She had her garden sprayed and couldn't plant anything this year.

I think I made her day. 

I still can't find the piece of fabric I put in a safe place to make a Challenge Block.

Oh Well!

Too many places to be and go this weekend to worry about that.

Wow-Wednesday "Deadlines"

The Book Review Quilt got Quilted!!

The Quilting pattern is called "Woodsy"

I found this fun stripe in my Stash. 

Almost went to town to find a stripe. 

I love shopping in my Fabric first.

I added a thin dark brown border on the sides.

I cut it from the selvage side vertically. 

That took a while to accomplish. 

Measured the length on both sides and 

re-cut to fit better.

Stitching out a label!

With the changing of the Season I put my 

Sylvia's Bridal Sampler on the bed.

Made in 2009- 2010

It had an Embroidered label made 

by a Quilty friend.

That's what made me think to do it for the 

Book Review Quilt.

On my walk around the house outside I found this Bloom on my Snowball tree.

And a couple more Gladiolus to enjoy.

The deadline to get my projects done for the Quilt Festival is quickly approaching. 

Binding, label and hanging sleeve are being

 tacked down while I rest my back.

Labor Day 2023 - Monday, Monday

These are the 3 Blocks I had cut out last Friday. 

Not much time to stitch with Football game, Wedding Reception, Parade and Fair.

I didn't have enough of the one background so it's a Mix up.

I was up early on this Labor Day to go and pick up my Quilt & Blue ribbons at the fair.

That alarm rings only when I set it these days, No Roosters.

I think I have 3 left to make. Time to lay it out again and see.

This will have to wait for next week. 

That gives me time to make the 3 Blocks.

A Cow, A Scarecrow for row 2, and the Apron or Mixer for the 5th row.

I got a Blue on my Gladiolus

and a Blue on my Quilt

 It was a Blue Ribbon day.

Dear Daughter #2 went to see the Beach Boys!

I didn't go too crazy.

The guys and gals in front of us were dancing and being weird, 

I didn't want to stand up in front 

of the people behind us and be RUDE!

I thought being in the Grandstand would be better than the Chairs in the dirt.

We had a little Fun, Fun Fun!

They had old Videos/pictures from the 1960's when they started the Surfing Craze

Old guys, singing those old songs!

It brought back memories of me watching American Bandstand 

and The Ed Sullivan Show.

I was only four when they started, lol. 

I really wanted my Sister to go with me. 

They were more her era than mine.

She chose not to go and was sick on Wednesday.

She is missing going to the Fair with me.

The Blue Super Moon over the Rodeo Grounds wasn't too Blue.

Still a bit of smoky haze around here from the fires.

Now it's time to get on "Betsy" and quilt my last entry 

for the Walla Walla Valley Quilt Festival later this month.

Deadline is midnight tonight!
