WOW - Wednesday

Today I ask my fellow Bloggers to guess what they think my oldest UFO is??

Last night I quilted one from 2008
That's a 14 year old UFO.
It's got the binding on and is ready to stitch on our way to the Temple Thursday.
Final reveal picture will beat the quilt Festival, if I enter it.

Do  any of you remember this one that I found in 2016??
Circa 2004
I never did do the Seminole Border.
Should I just quilt it and be done??

I know there are older ones somewhere downstairs.
I can't find my UFO List that I compiled.
So, I guess I'll have to make a new list for 2021-2022 NewFO's, TBQ's and Blocks to be set.

I'm still trying to decide what Quilts to enter in the WallaWalla Quilt Festival.
September 1st is the deadline to enter.
I am cutting it very close.

Friday Fun times

I did it!!
Here is my first of 27
Log Cabin Blocks
Eleanor Burns did her Webinar this week.
It was great!
I  dreaded cutting more than a few to start this quilt.
We got to Celebrate this guy's B-day.
He was a good sport to wear the goofy hat.
Found him a 'tie-dyed' cake.
64 years, still young at heart.
Thankful for Roma & Gordon,  NaDell & kids, Jes, Janessa, Jes & Jacob.
Sorry the rest couldn't make it.
Have a great weekend.

WOW - Wednesday February 7, 2018

OK - It's a Wednesday...
Time to look around and see where I am at on a few of my OTHER Projects.
I tried to not 'Start" a Lot of New Projects last year, too many to count, that were resisted.
I did start these 3 Projects in 2017
Pat Sloan 2017 BOM "Children's Library"
2017 Designer Mystery - Fat Quarter Shop
Lori Holt - Spelling Bee Saturday
Having the Portable Design Wall up is very Helpful!
When I find the Blocks and take time to get them up to see the colors - LOOK!
9 Blocks - Need the setting Square in a Square blocks/sashing

7 of the 12 Blocks DONE
Ordered the pattern for the Finishing, didn't know it wasn't included :(
I don't usually order Blocks of the Month online with Kits.
These kits had a LOT of extra Fabric.
YEA for FQS. (Fat Quarter Shop)
This is #9 on the 2018 UFO List

and lastly Lori got me started on this book when I saw the cute letters showing up on her Blog.
also found each Saturday on Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber Blog
 we are halfway there...
I see that I need to space out the BLUE Letters.
Or make a few extra in other colors... duh, I am already doing that.
Marking off the letters I have ready for the Grandchildren names Quilt.
This is # 8 on my UFO list HERE

I did start a few others, like the Garden Party and 2nd Midnight Flight at the Retreat with Bonnie.
AND the Mystery I just finished, it's a Flimsy HERE
I'm a Quiltville Groupie!

So far in 2018 I have started Just ONE NEW Block of the Month
Pat Sloan's "Let's Go Camping" BOM
I have one of the 2 Blocks done for this.
I shared it last week HERE
But I will be starting this one next month...

Eleanor Burns is Celebrating "40 Fabulous Years"
I saw this quilt at Road to CA...and online on her Facebook page and on YouTube Webinars
No automatic alt text available.
I know a few of my quilty friends will  be LOL - ing all over the place...
YES, There are LOG Cabins!
She used her Go Cutter to cut them, I will decide later IF I will make & use them.
The webinar's start in 8 DAYS on YouTube.
I watched her Webinar's last year and ordered the Patterns.
They were fun but no Big Projects came from them.
So Laugh all you want...

I started watching Eleanor when I was a Newlywed in Mesa on PBS.
The year was 1976-80...
My Boys asked me to turn the volume down... her voice was squeaky, they said.
They wanted to know who was picking up that fabric off the floor...???

I was a star-struck fan at EXPO when I met her in 2010.
She signed all the Books I dragged along. plus a Siggy Square.
I will NEVER forget seeing her come down the aisle in the Expo Tent pulling strips out of her sleeves.  That was her "Still Stripping after 25 years" Show.

How excited was I to see her last year at Road to CA!!!?
I missed seeing her this year by one DAY.

Today I got the email that my Pattern Book to go along with the Webinar is on it's way.
There's a Facebook Group just for this group too!
I'm just a little excited.
Easy to get me excited, huh??
My "Name Dropper" reputation is showing...

What I'm Working on hasn't changed...
The Design Floor looks a little better, just about 12 more long seams, LOL
And then it will be ready to Quilt.

I needed a Short Row so the Train pattern from Janet O won out.
From My Girlfriend's Quilt Shop.
It needs some embellishments after Quilting.
Maybe Wheels & Sewing Machine Button and a RR Sign.

I am waiting to show it on here after I turn it in for a good reason.
The TADA is Coming - REALLY!

It's my OMG again.
Linking up HERE

Finally Friday- almost SPRING

You could say I've been a little distracted this week.
The SUN finally came out!
After all the rain, I just wanted to go out and see the grass grow.
DH, Paul's Sprinklers are all working now and he is very pleased with himself.
The trenches will fill in with the sprinkle of seed he put out.

I don't really have time to Play outside and the grandsons didn't come to tempt me this week.
So, Why am I distracted?
Well, I am putting away the stuff I brought home from the Weekend at Trends.
I find stuff I forgot to share and then you know... I had to PLAY with it!
My Kit from the Take n Teach class with Abbey Lane Quilts
Playing with the layout
Directions are different for this one.  Not quite like "Buggy Barn"
How random do I want it to be?
Hmmmm, this one will have to marinate a little.

As if I don't have enough to distract me-
I saw that Ann Hazelwood has a new series out and I picked one up at Trends.
No, I haven't cracked it open ---yet!
I'm still reading my Jennifer Chiaverini book "Christmas Bells"
Read about it HERE.
I know it's closer to EASTER, I can't put it down, the historical fiction gets me.

I haven't forgotten about my quilting of the "Honor Star" on "Betsy".
I found more of the Block patterns in my Buttercup Feather file.
I hadn't uploaded all of them to the Quilt-sew-Clever.
I like that I can scale it to fit the space, even if it isn't square.
Two more corners to quilt and the bottom border.
The side borders will be done after I turn the quilt.
It's more work but worth it to me.
Gotta get it done before the class in June.
Fabrics are "Thyme with Friends" by Kris Lammers for Maywood.
with a little of my "Fresh Lilacs" from Debbie Beaves

It's almost here...
I'll be making Hearts and Flowers Blocks with my Guild friends.
No better way to spend the day.

Thanks for reading to the end.
I have more to share from Trends so keep watching the BLOG and commenting.
I Blog for Comments, LOL

Design Wall Monday- February 1, 2016

I should have a 'finished' Allietare to show today.
I have until next Sunday to Link- up with Bonnie over at Quiltville.
The rows waiting to be sewn together with my Row marking, alphabet pins I got from
Kathy in Canada HERE.
My Wednesday post should have the Flimsy on it.
My Block count for January = 108

We had a long weekend spent with other stuff.
Two Grandsons played and WON at AAU Basketball in Kennewick and Richland.
We were able to deliver Birthday gifts to 5 people in our family,
who have had or will have Birthdays this week.

The traditional dinner with our turning 8 year old Grandson happened also.
He's our 8th Grandson, 10th Grandchild to turn 8.

We first took him to the Temple for pictures before it got really dark.
Next we went to pick out his Gift,  A personalized Journal.
He had his paper game with him in the all the pictures.

I couldn't resist this one, they were skipping.

He will be baptized next week-end.

I WON cakes this week for two Grandchildren from our Local Country Radio station.
I have to wake up early to do it but when I WIN it is worth it.
Here are two of DD#1's kids with the cake I won last Monday for my Granddaughter.
We even got invited to eat some of the cake!  That was fun.
Here is the 5 year old.
She said, "Take my Picture Grandma"!

I gifted my 13 year old Granddaughter early- here comes the "quilty" part of this post!
I gave her a cute Aqua"Splash" Rotary Cutter, Green Cutting Mat, 6.5"ruler and some cute fabrics that she could choose to use to make the Kid's Camp Quilt.
"Gum Paper Chains"
She'll still need more fabric for the background and borders.
I love that she got excited to get the Rotary Cutter!
Her favorite color is GREEN!
I sorted my Fat Quarter drawers to find some to bundle up just for her.

My "test" Class Sample for the Feathered Star is what I will work on for
OMG "One Monthly Goal"
RedLetterQuilts
I need to re-make it in fabrics that are available at Sew n Vac.
The Pattern is in Eleanor Burns "All Star Quilts"
I mistakenly thought they still had "Fairy Frost"
I love this one made with my Favorite fabric!
The wind and rain died down long enough to take a picture outside.
The sunshine sparkles on the Fairy Frost.

Last night was our Annual Quilt Guild Symposium.
I was asked to talk about FUN with BORDERS!
This is the only Picture I took at the Event.
I was so busy 'talking' to everyone.
Any Blocks can be put into strips and make a Border.
[picture]
L-R: Flip n sew border strip, strata strips, Downton Abbey Flying Geese, Judy L's "Big Star" Sashing, Leftover parts from Quiltville 2014 "Grand Illusion" Mystery,
The Purple and White on the corner of the table are Ricky Tims one seam 3-D Geese.

I knew I had a FEW good Quilts with FUN Borders.
Many Thanks to Judy Laquidara's Books and Bonnie's Quiltville Mysteries and Workshop.
I was in such a hurry when packing up to leave that I didn't get these 2 books in my stuff to show the Ladies at the Symposium,
I have gotten a few Ideas for Borders from these 2 books.
The Borders on this Spiderman Zig Zag D9P came from "Weekend Quilts" pg 74.
Opps!-- laying it out this morning I see it is short one block there on the Right Side...
Easy fix. I have an extra one to use.
I started this quilt in 2008 when I was making quilts for ALL my Grandchildren.
Back then I didn't have as many as I do now.
Time to re-make some that are too small for them and worn out now.
I know CKC would Love to have a different quilt.
He reminds me when he sees me that his is TOO small.

Quilts on the rack.-1st Picture
Purple & Yellow were a Monochromatic Color Challenge from Judy L in 2011.
Flying Geese Pillowcase border is "Easy Street" leftovers. Thanks to Bonnie Hunter.
Strippy Squares is "Brrr Hearts" on my from a Guild Sew-in May 2012.
The credit goes to Maggie Ball for that pattern in "Bargello with a Twist"

2nd Picture-
Bottom row- Marti Michell "American Beauty" Block of the Month 2010
2011 McCall's Quilt Design Star Contest Challenge #1, "Be-Ribboned"- 'ribbons' from HST's.

I had to lay out my quilts and take these pictures this AM.
It takes a while to get the TEXT credit on them.
Thanks for looking.
I always want to remember where I got my Ideas and give credit to the designers.

It's another Pretty SPRING day here in my Town!
SOOOOO Sorry for those who got more of the WHITE STUFF!
