National Quilting Day - Late Posting

My Preparation day fell on my favorite Quilty Holiday!!
NATIONAL QUILTING DAY
I had big plans to get my Frolic Quilt to a flimsy...
Alas, other projects were proposed.
Making Facemasks.
I had that Bandana fabric from my
Hancock Fabrics days.
I stuck it in my bag at the last minute in January when we left home.
I made 3 sets of His & Hers Facemasks.
Elder Crowther humored me and posed.
He hates things over his mouth.

I gave one to our Mission President.
It was his Birthday.
He gave me 2 thumbs up.
Sister Johnson said, "I want one!"
Of course, I delivered one to her later.

I used a You Tube Tutorial.
Then adapted it to put a pocket on the back.
I used selvages for the ties.
Twist ties zigzagged into the seam on top.
Bendable to allow breathing thru your nose.

I brought a few Quilts so since I didn't have a Porch, I hung them on the Fence.
My Marti Mitchell BOM from 2013
"The Romance Continues"
And the Denim Picnic Quilt we used for between Sessions of General Conference
We liked having a Picnic lunch on the lawn at Pasco Stake Center.

Maybe we can have a Picnic here in Nebraska between Conference Sessions

WOW - Wednesday - Off to a Slow Start

It has been a Slow Start today.
I had an early Morning Eye Dr appointment.
A re-test of my Field of Vision was needed.
Didn't know I needed my eyes Dilated also.

When you get older the eyes get dim.
I'm trying to make sure the cataracts and other stuff don't affect my Quilting.

#IGQUILTFEST
Tuesday was #irontips
My 2 Most used Irons.
The Shark I got at BiMart
& Portable Sunbeam mini iron.
Bonnie Hunter recommended it in 2014.
I got mine at Target that year.
It travels with meach to class and Retreats.
My Tip is to use a Wool Mat and Best Press.
Today is #besttipever

This is my small quilts.
All rolled up in the Closet.
Looks like time to sort and Re-Roll.
Folds are less when the Quilts are rolled.
I roll them pretty side out for the most part .

Dear Hubby took my Challenge quilt to Pasco with him. He will take it to Janean's.
Quilt Show is just 2 weeks away.
Monday we VOTE for our favorite
 Challenge Quilt at Guild.
The winners get $$$ prizes.
Pictures later.

My eyes are getting clearer so I dare to operate my machine.
Finishing up the stitching of the borders.
Then, I can load it.
Betsy has been empty for too long.
The last 2 projects have been Quilted with my Bernina with BSR.
 (Bernina Stitch Regulator)
Quiltcam tonight on QUILTVILLE.
I need something to share.

It's a Friday - Almost a Finish...

The fabric for Binding I wanted to use wasn't where I thought it would be.
I must have used it all on the last Border.
I found some Brown Fairy Frost that I liked ok.
So after a few cuts and a few more stitches and I had something to hand stitch while I watched TV.
This is my Bernina "workhorse" machine!
It was my #IGQuiltFest post for today.

On Ringo Lake is going to be up for the FULL Viewing at Tri-Cities Quilt Show!
Should I share it before??
My Daughters will need to draw straws for this one.
DD #4 - Daughter -by-love has said these are her favorite colors.
DD # 2 says it would look nice in her house. She saw it last night.
I think it looks pretty nice on MY BED, lol

Here is my Intro Post from Yesterday

Finally Friday- almost SPRING

You could say I've been a little distracted this week.
The SUN finally came out!
After all the rain, I just wanted to go out and see the grass grow.
DH, Paul's Sprinklers are all working now and he is very pleased with himself.
The trenches will fill in with the sprinkle of seed he put out.

I don't really have time to Play outside and the grandsons didn't come to tempt me this week.
So, Why am I distracted?
Well, I am putting away the stuff I brought home from the Weekend at Trends.
I find stuff I forgot to share and then you know... I had to PLAY with it!
My Kit from the Take n Teach class with Abbey Lane Quilts
Playing with the layout
Directions are different for this one.  Not quite like "Buggy Barn"
How random do I want it to be?
Hmmmm, this one will have to marinate a little.

As if I don't have enough to distract me-
I saw that Ann Hazelwood has a new series out and I picked one up at Trends.
No, I haven't cracked it open ---yet!
I'm still reading my Jennifer Chiaverini book "Christmas Bells"
Read about it HERE.
I know it's closer to EASTER, I can't put it down, the historical fiction gets me.

I haven't forgotten about my quilting of the "Honor Star" on "Betsy".
I found more of the Block patterns in my Buttercup Feather file.
I hadn't uploaded all of them to the Quilt-sew-Clever.
I like that I can scale it to fit the space, even if it isn't square.
Two more corners to quilt and the bottom border.
The side borders will be done after I turn the quilt.
It's more work but worth it to me.
Gotta get it done before the class in June.
Fabrics are "Thyme with Friends" by Kris Lammers for Maywood.
with a little of my "Fresh Lilacs" from Debbie Beaves

It's almost here...
I'll be making Hearts and Flowers Blocks with my Guild friends.
No better way to spend the day.

Thanks for reading to the end.
I have more to share from Trends so keep watching the BLOG and commenting.
I Blog for Comments, LOL

National Quilting Day/Weekend

Worldwide Quilting Day

I am Blogging again for NATIONAL QUILTING DAY!  I know every day seems like a Quilting Day at my house. I am found in my Basement or out at my Quilt Buddy's shop almost every day.  She's gone to the Trade Show without me.  She'll be seeing Marti Michell. I've met her before, but I'm jealous. I need some company to get me moving...

What Quilt-y project will you be quilting/sewing on???

Tonight there will be QuiltCam over at Quiltville Click HERE.  It starts at 9pm EDT.  That is about dinnertime where I live.  Let's see what Bonnie Hunter is stitching on tonight. I love seeing her Vintage machines.  I have a few. Will it be 9-patches, Sister's Choice Blocks, hexies, or something new???

The Quilt Show is offering free viewing all weekend starting Friday. Click HERE .

Judy L over at Patchworktimes is starting a new Quilt-Along on Saturday. Click HERE.

I don't want to sit at my computer all weekend though. I want to Quilt!

I have a few Projects that are pressing...
1- Swap Blocks for the Block Party
2- Birthday Gifts for the GRANDCHILDREN WHO HAVE A BIRTHDAY COMING UP
3- My BOM that is ready to assemble, if I can finish up those last few blocks.
4- Pinwheels for the Mariner's Compass Round Robin Quilt

Lets get this Party started- Crank up the music, put in your favorite DVD and let's QUILT!

National Quilting Day- St Patrick's Day

Today I have ---2 Holidays to Celebrate
National Quilting Day and St Patrick's Day
I'm not Irish - these blocks were the Block Lotto Blocks I was suppose to take to guild meeting on Tuesday. I put my "Balkan Puzzle" together like my "Windblown Square" by mistake and had to do some "frogging".  I told the Winner, Dilsey, I would bring her my Blocks.  These were made using the fun trick shared on "Craftsy".  The directions help you make 4 HST's at a time. The Balkan Puzzle was the February Block of the Month on Craftsy.  Thanks to Marilee.
You sew around the outside of a square then cut twice on the diagonal.  The edges are on the bias but I was careful and it worked ok for me. 12" blocks are fun to make.

My Block of the week for the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Group was C-1 Contrary Husband
I needed to make this one for my 30's Sylvia's Bridal Sampler anyway so here it is. 6.5" block made with Marti Michell Templates.  I have a bunch of blocks cut out now and next week is the Farmer's Wife Small Groups meeting at Thread and Bolts.  I am trying to catch up with our fearless leader, Lynn. I hope to at least have my March Blocks finished in time for the meeting next week.  Wait and see if they are the Design Wall Monday.

How are you Celebrating the 2 Holidays? I remember making Crocheted 'Green' Shamrocks for my children to wear so they wouldn't get pinched.  And making Green food for dinner.
It is so fun to have a Quilt Related Holiday on the Calender.  Not that I need a reason to Quilt...
