Design Wall Monday, August 6-2012

With the grandchildren visiting my Design Wall today consists of the Novelty tote of fabric and what we made together from their choice. Each chose some fabric, (two chose the same as their Pillowcases) and we cut out a pair of shorts for them to swim in.  I let them push the pedal on the serger and together we got 5 pair made by 11 am. Then we took a ride to JoAnn's to buy them matching shirts to go with their shorts. 

Here they are posing with the shirts. We went to Albertson's to get Glow in the dark- Toothbrushes, 

(they forgot theirs at home) and  a few more snacks to take to the park.

Next stop was Pioneer park where they played until I said to go over to the trees for individual pictures to put on my Fridge... They liked playing in the fountain there. BUT- I wouldn't let them get wet, we had another stop to make.

Trevor broke his Flip Flop so his big Brother, Jared gave him a piggy back ride around the corner from  where we parked.  Each one chose a MINI cupcake  to eat there and a BIG Cupcake for tonight's Dessert. Our last stop today was back home at Grandpa and Grandma's to play in the mini pool with the Slide  and Grandpa's homemade sprinkler.  The boys slept in the tent with Grandpa, it is in the background of this picture. Lydia started out in there but decided to come inside with Grandma.  We're having lots of fun eating Frozen Fruit bars and Lunch-ables and Smoothies and will take a walk to the Park again later with Grandpa when it cools off a bit. This grandma is POOPED!  I stayed home and took a nap.

Having a "SWEET" time (many Pics)

The Goodson's are in town so we went to the Block Party downtown Monday night to see what was going on.  The boys loved the bounc-y house and the dunk tank.

 Jackson got up really close since he's young.  This was the second guy from the Sweets team to volunteer for the Dunk Tank.  If we had stayed a while longer we would have seen the General Manager get dunked.

Paul and I with Janessa's boys listening to the Live Music at the Block Party.  Sometimes grandpa doesn't wait for me to look a the camera.  And I am usually talking or being distracted anyway with my grandkids.

 After we got home and Grandpa mowed the yard they played with the fat bat and played catch.  It's hard with only one bat and two boys...

Tuesday- JULY 24th

NaDell Drove over from Tri-cities with her 4 children to see her Sister and sons.  No visit is complete without some Pioneer Park time.  

Jacob smiles big on the baby swings.  I can get a good picture as long as MOMMY is nearby. Abigail loves to Swing!  She would have stayed there the whole time if we only had the energy to keep pushing her up high!

Vincent and Jackson up on the ROCK!  Grandpa helped them to get up there.  Scaring this Grandma, but I still had to get a Kodak Moment of it.  The grandkids like to go around and see all of the birds in the Aviary.  The Peacocks are a fun stop along the way.  They screamed at the male one to get him to fluff his tail. I don't know who told them that would work?? 

 Back at Grandpa and Grandma's it is time for Blue Jello Jigglers and Grandpa's "homemade" Sprinkler. Four nozzles for the oldest of the 6 here. Jackson and Vincent came close to tell me they were "all soaking wet!!"

Jacob was afraid of Sweet Lou,but Jackson gave him hugs and poked him in the eye.  Funny to him, not so much for the Sweets Mascot... 

Milton, Christen and their family joined us at the Borleske Stadium for the ALL-STAR Game.  

 Grandma bought some of the BLUE Cotton Candy for the "kids".  I think two bags would have been enough, thinking back.  We were in the "Family Zone".  Sorry to the Guy who sat in front of us...

I brought the 'Bells' I got at an earlier Sweets game to let the kids play with.  A slight distraction and racket for us at the Game.  I told them to ring them when a Bellingham Bells player was up to bat. They even took them down and got them signed by Sweet Lou for me.

The East and West of the WCL played a close game- no score until the 4th inning.  The west WON 3-2.  I think we were rooting for the EAST...

 The oldest Child and Youngest Grandchild of mine!  Nothing like sharing some Family Time at the Baseball Game and there was FIREWORKS too!!!

Design Wall Monday, January 30, 2012

Last week was pretty much a Bust in the sewing room except for "tester" block I can't show and the Birthday Gifts I made for two of the four Grandchildren Birthdays coming up so far this year. I know by showing them on here the Parents know what I'm making for them.  Oh well, the surprise will still be how they actually look and the fabrics I will choose special  for each one.   I had hoped to make these all for Christmas and since the Plan 'D' went into effect in December, they did not get done. I'm hoping for a little more playing in the Quilt Zone this week. The letters are made using the techniques I learned from the "Word Play" class I took last fall at STASH.

 Seth got his in December for his Birthday.

Next is Abigail's - her sister's called it a quilt in the video my Daughter took.  LOL.

Saturday was Samuel's Birthday and he got this one.

What do you think?  Should I use all capital letters or go wonky with lower and upper case letters??

Things that make this Grandma go AWWWWE...

On our way to Tri-cities this morning I got this picture E-mail from Idaho.  My Family knows how to make my heart go AWE!    I got all choked up when I saw it and I was glad Grandpa was driving.  

The occasion we were headed to was Coy's Baptism.  I was asked to give a talk so being emotional didn't really help.  Neither did my nagging headache so I asked Milton and Paul to give me a Priesthood blessing before everyone arrived.  I'm grateful to my Husband and sons who honor their Priesthood and use it to bless their family.  It is always fun to see the cousins get together and the Crowther extended family who come and support each other.  It's hard to not take pictures of everything, but inside the Church was a little busy with four children being Baptized today.
Having Great Grandparents there is always Extra special.  I had to take their picture with Coy before they got away.

I'm sure I'll get a few more pictures tomorrow if the weather doesn't inhibit my travels.

I finished reading "The Wedding Quilt"  and as always will await the news of the follow up book to this one.  It ended as I thought it would and made me cry on the way home.   I'm just a bawl baby, I guess.  My Mother used to say her heartstrings were too close to her tear ducts. I get it from her.

More Family Time

Friday Night Paul and I took Elizabeth with us to see "17 Miracles" then drove her to meet her parents in Richland.  Grandpa took a picture of Olivia with her late Birthday presents from us and her sister.

While we were gone to Tri-cities the Arizona Family came to visit for a while. Tradition is getting a picture of the grandchild under this TOY that I bought almost 12 years ago before our first grandchild was born.  I only have one grandchild that hasn't played with this TOY.

 Saturday Morning was "Kid's Day" @ the Farmer's Market.  They had activities for the little ones and balloons, Pony rides and the District 4 Fire trucks from the station where Jes worked when they lived here were there too.  I had to take a family picture at the Jeep before we headed back home to get ready for the big PARTY!  It's so nice to have the Goodson's come to share Jackson Birthday time with us in Walla Walla.  It helps that BOTH grandparents live within two Blocks of each other.  Thanks to the Goodson's  for hosting the shin-dig!

 I gave Paul the camera to go and take some pictures of the Grandchildren playing at the Party.  It's always fun to see what pictures he took when I get home.  Big Surprise- he turned the camera on the 'picture taker'.

After our Hamburger and Hot dog dinner and Birthday presents and cake it was time to Swim. Even Uncle Joe got in to help his littlest boy to swim safely.  They kids had fun I think, even if they kept jumping off the Ladder...Opps!

 Joe even took Jacob around for a while, he loves the water!  We look forward to another day of swimming and fun with the Tri-city grandchildren at Joe and Kori's  while Jes and Janessa are here.  Maybe Grandma will get a group picture of the bunch of them...It is a rare occasion to get more than 11 out of the 17 of them in one place.  Definitely a Cousin Picture time.  Fair warning- If you read this plan on it! We're sorry that the 3 Idaho and 1 Ohio grandchildren can't be with us this time.  The miles to drive when it's time for school to start are too long. We understand when not everyone can come!

Ballerinas in the family

 Tonight we were invited to see the Ballet Rehearsal for our two Ballerinas.  Elizabeth finished her performance before we got there.  Her's was 2nd on the list.  Olivia had to wait until the 24th group to dance.  She is pictured here with her tutu and headband ready to go on stage soon. NaDell comes prepared for everything. She had snacks, Coloring books and markers and blankets to play  cars on and sit on. There are a bunch of Busy MOMs at these events.  The  Ballet recital will be Friday night there in the park.  I saw quite a few who had young babies to take care of as well as getting their Ballerinas on stage at the appointed time.  Aunt Torrie came and helped Olivia and her friend go up.  I'm grateful that their Grandpa George loves his grand-daughters and helps them have this opportunity to participate in Dance. We saw a few old friends from our Basin City and Burbank days there supporting their grandchildren.

This is Olivia in a dress I made for Elizabeth a few years ago. It was a model garment from my working days at Hancock Fabrics.  I finally got the ribbon replaced so Olivia can wear it a few weeks.  She has the perfect Purple jewelry to match. 

Olivia took the picture of Paul and I with Vincent and Elizabeth. Grandpa Paul took Vincent and Abigail for a little walk. Elizabeth  also joined them when she got bored with waiting for Olivia's turn. After the rehearsal part we went up to Mesa to visit with Gordon & Zora (G-pa & G-ma C). We sure don't miss the MOSQUITOES!   Our windsheild is covered with them and a couple found their way into the car.  Hay is being harvested and Paul enjoyed seeing the progress on the Potato, Peas, Wheat and Corn crops along the way.  It's fun to drive up and remember the old days we spent on the Farm.  I don't miss them as much as Paul. Late nights out checking for Dew to bale the hay and early mornings changing the water and feeding the cattle.
