Saturday Stitching

Today's  #IGQUILTFEST2023 is Quilty Hands.

I had to stitch 3 lengths of this fun Zebra Flannel for the backing of Rhododendron Trail.
Measure twice, cut once!
My 120 measuring tape broke so I had to buy a new one, not retractable, bummer.
But,  It is Purple!!

Rhododendron Trail Mystery Quilt is ready to be Quilted today. Hurray!!!
Only a year behind...wish me luck with Betsy!
I snapped a part off, but was able to use one off the bottom leader pole,
I don't use it much.
Floating is easier now.
I ❤️ how fast I can load a quilt with
the Red Snappers.
Now to find a pattern to fit right.
Maybe "Breath of the Gods" by Apricot Moon

I got the binding on the 2022 Riley Blake Block Challenge Quilt!
The different fabric is more at the top.
I can live with it.
I wish Pomeroy wasn't an hour away.
I should have bought more when I was there.
The borders aren't as big as I planned.
Quilt Measurements for the Quilt Show
 are incorrect now.
It's big enough to fit my Queen sized bed.
Quilted with Ginger Snap Panto by Apricot Moon.

I might get all my Quilts entered in the Tri-Cities Quilt Show yet!
Need to make Hanging sleeves for 2 of them.
Road trip stitching week after next.
3 weeks from yesterday is the Show!

WOW- Wednesday "National Quilting Month"

 It's National Quilting Month
Some say, "Isn't that every Month?"
For me, in this photo, I see it's been way too long since I dyed my hair, lol
#IGQuiltfest started today.

I grew up under a Quilt. Threading needles and helping when I could. My mom mostly tied quilts. When Grandma, her mom, came to visit, there were Whole Cloth quilts on the frames. Momma said all homes needed a living room big enough to set up a Quilt and be able to walk around it. If she could see how we Quilt now! From Scissors and cardboard templates to Rotary Cutters and Computerized machines to Quilt. I have done it all. I consider myself a Traditional Quilter.

This was last year.

...and in 2021

2020 we visited Lincoln, Nebraska

I love having a reason to post something on IG every day in March.
I won't share al the Days on the Blog, just a few.
Quilty Stuff makes my happy!

Betsy did her stuff after a bit of un-stitching Block Pattern that didn't work.
Skipping stitches, needle and thread changes.
I even checked the bobbin again.
From the crazy wild Backing!

RBD Block Challenge is Quilted, YEA!
I'll wait and post the final TaDa at the Quilt show.
I didn't have enough of the Binding fabric.
I looked downtown and might 'make do' with a different fabric.
I'm thinking I bought the fabric at Ratherbe's last year on Shop Hop.
Maybe there's time to call and have them send me a 1/2 yard.
What Would You Do???

Monday- on Betsy- the Quilt Machine

Last week I loaded the 2022 RBD Block Challenge Quilt vertical on Betsy.
There was a lot of extra on the sides of the backing and batting.
I started the machine but it Restarted when I pushed to add a Pattern. UGG, I gave up.

So, this morning I thought I'd see if I could fit the Rhododendron Trail Mystery
on this backing. Nope, just a little too short.
Back to re-loading this one Horizontally.

It fits much better and I will have less turning of the Quilt, less passes.
Thinking about doing Block by Block???
Hmmmmm, sew many to choose from.

March is National Quilting Month!
This is my Honest sewing room picture. lol

Fri-Yay's Flimsy Reveal on Saturday

Oh how time flies when I'm hurting!
I posted on Instagram, Facebook in two or three groups and forgot to Blog!
I worked hard all day Wednesday and got the Flying Geese border on.
All the Flying geese flying the right direction, while it kept snowing.
I added a 10" piece of Moda Swirls on the top and bottom borders.
Using the extra geese for the sides.
Had to make a few more Flying geese with my favorite Moda Swirls in PINK!
But, looking at this picture, I saw that I needed to turn the long borders around.
That took a while to do,
Switched them to the Yellow side in.
It was too dark by then to get another Snow Flimsy Picture.
The living room floor had to do.

I got the Blue Quilt measured and ready to Quilt Wednesday between ripping.
Friday was designated to be a Quilting day.

Had to get the official measurement, 4"
DH said we got 2 more on Friday somehow,
I must have been asleep.

My Chiropractor was sick so I didn't have an appointment until late afternoon.
He got things back to the right places.
Sleep is so precious.
I fell asleep watching the WWCC Lady and Men's Basketball games on the Laptop.
They both won the makeup games from Wednesday.
Roads are slick!
It's in the sub Zero Temps and I'm cuddling in my Fuzzy Blanket.
Woke up after a Nightmare of a dream.
Had to leave a Quilt Retreat in a hurry and left all my stuff sitting on the table and bed.
Road construction and no way to turn around and go get it.
Couldn't reach my friend to ask them to bring it home for me.
Way too scary, woke up and stopped that nightmare...
WHEW! My Purple Bernina machine is still where I had it!

Have a good Saturday, stay warm!
I'll be here, stitching away.

Less than a month until the Tri-City Quilters Show!

WOW - Wednesday SNOW Day/SEW Day

Woke up to see if the weather lady was right.
YEP, Darn it!

Not driving the New to us car very far today.

This was last night at the car dealer - Corwin Ford
Bought a used Chevy Malibu!

Crazy skies driving home from the Temple,
Paul was driving when I took this picture.

I might get a flimsy in the snow picture.
That means I have to get my warm clothes on...

YES! It's a pedal to the Metal day!
Flying Geese borders going on!
Blue 2022 RBD Block Challenge Quilt going on the frame.
Backing is on.
Gotta take a break to ice my back...
Ready or not Betsy will be stitching by nightfall.

Whatcha working on today?

Need more Mondays...

I spent most of my Saturday on this...
The Walla Walla Valley Quilt Guild had a Sew-In.
I unstitched the two switched blocks, re-stitched them in the right place and added a small border.
The bigger planned border had to be cut down.
I forget where I got the fabric so I made do
with what I had.
Too dark and cold outside for a picture.
Ready for the Quilting.
I hope my back is ready to do that Quilting.
Thinking of how I could fill the Big White Squares.

The WWCC Women's Basketball team played Saturday afternoon so I had to leave early.

A hard fought fight to Win this game!
Go Lady Warriors!

It was Sophomore night!
We missed the Lady's intros before their game.

Covy Kelly's family with Fiance Kylie!

Kyson Rose's family

The WWCC Men tried their best, but couldn’t get the 'W' tonight.  3 on 1 under the basket didn't help.

Our Walla Walla Valley Quilt Guild President brought a Treasure to show us.
It really was one lady's treasure at one time.

The 2 Dresden Plates in front were on the want it/ pay and take it table at Powered by Fabric.

A picture of the cute basket.
It was Lavender,  I said sold!

Last Pieced Borders started for my Rhododendron Trail Mystery Quilt.
Happy Monday!

Rest Day- Thursday!

Valentine's Day and Paul's Birthday came and went.
I got Flowers,
The Russell Stover Chocolates were BOGO.

This was us Early on V-Day
I made an early appointment at the Temple.

We hurried back to attend the Memorial Service for Bob Lim, our friend in 3rd Ward.
We got this photo of the Bishops since we got here.
Bishops Steve, Bushman,  Paul Crowther,  Preston Frederickson,  and Christopher Jenkins.

We had Lunch at Pacific Express after.
Birthday guy's choice.
Paul is 69
Janessa surprised him at his PT appointment.
Balloons and a Texas Roadhouse gift card.
A Maple Bar and Donut for Breakfast too.
Thanks so much!

The Tulips we planted where the Hydrangeas were are poking up their heads!

I got this square at Tri-City Quilt Guild last Month, not sure what to do with it yet.

Because my Back is out of Whack I missed the
Lori Holt Day at Powered by Fabric.
I want to sew, but instead I'm resting.

I stayed home from the Temple today.
Dr Dan suggested I not take any long Road Trips.
It's been 8 years since I had to go to the Chiropractor. Ice packs are my friend!

Fri-Yay already

The weeks go by so fast when you spend two days in the Temple.

This was our view on Tuesday morning.
Bathed in early morning sunlight.
We were on the 7:45am Session with a bunch of Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators.
President and Sister Powell officiated.

I don't often see the SUNRISE!
Lots of Orange that morning.

I finally got a couple more of my Quilts entered for the March Quilt Show in Tri-Cities.
The Bird Quilt still needs the Binding put on.

Last year at this time I was Helping Elizabeth finish her Gate of Roses Quilt.

I would still like to finish the Moda Love Star and 2022 RBD Block Challenge Quilts.
Can I do it before next Thursday??

I talked to Tara at Sew, Vac & Spas and she asked if I wanted to Teach again.
We'll see if I can fit into the group of Teachers.
THIS is the Quilt I want to make for a Class
Jenny did a remake of an old Tutorial for the Irish Chain Quilt.

I registered my Bernina Embroidery Machine and Module.
I've had it over 3 months now.
About time to get it registered.

Late Monday Posting

Thanks to a UFO Day at Powered by Fabric, I worked on 'Chilhowie' today.
I got a total of 5 more big blocks assembled.
Lots more to get it done.

One block at a time.
Love my constant color. A soft peachy color.
Trim, Press. stitch, press again.

I left my Seam Ripper at home and had to borrow one.
Eddie let me use her Rotary Cutter and mat, too.
Some days are Monday all week.
It wasn't the best start to my stitching today.
Note to self: don't forget your favorite Ruler, Rotary Cutter and Seam Ripper.
One more week until the deadline for the Quilt Show.

This post is short and sweet.
Gotta get to sleep so we can get up early.

What are you working on this week??

WOW-WEDNESDAY

It's Wednesday again!
Happy February
Machine Embroidery Month starts today!
I have added even more hours to
#Thinittowinit

                                                                  Aren't these cute Badges.

I should be getting a Charm that has all the badges on it from My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe soon.
I just sent in my 50 hour total.

I got this Bluebird fabric off the Free table at
Walla Walla Valley Quilt Guild.
It wasn't Quilt wide enough for the backing.
I had to measure and piece it.
Making sure all the Bluebirds were
flying the same direction.

On 'Betsy' ready to start quilting!

I found a Birds panto to use.

Ta - Done!
Just needs binding. Don't look too close...

A few birds flew off the edge and I need to pick a few errant stitches out
from trying to fix a placement problem.

Next up- from the same tote
The Blocks from Riley Blake Block Challenge.
I had a few parts left to sew for the chain blocks.
Then I laid it out and checked once or twice on the correct placement of the main blocks.
Had to align them just right.
The bottom 2 are swapped, oh well.

I think adding  a simple Border would make it fit the Bed.
It was to dark and cold to take a picture last night.

Today was my 3rd and final Embroidery Machine Class  at Janean's Bernina.
I have learned a lot!
We only stitched on Stabilizer today.

Had to go get some Spudnuts!

It was a good day, no Snow, it was predicted.
I was home earlier than Paul expected.
