Quilt show Weekend- catch up

 I was asked to take some pictures.

So I did a lot of walking in the 2 days plus 

Set up and Take down.

This is Beth.

She was in charge if Setting and Hanging Quilts.

She even built a few new frames!!

Mark Palmer was our 

LOCAL Featured Quilter

Heather Black of Quiltachsetts

Was the National Featured Quilter.

This Quilt won 3rd Place in the Viewer's Choice.

Lori Holt "Calico Garden"

The maker showed up as the 2  Ribbons 

were being placed.

One for the Maker, One for the Quilter.

2nd Placewas a Totally Machine Embroidered 

Quilt of Cottages

This Quilt garnered the most Votes!

It started with a panel in the Center and was embellished with appliqued Branches and landscape. Beautiful Threadwork finished it.

The 3 winning Quilts were all in a row on the

 ends of the Aisles.

With the Quilt Show Chair, Co Chair  (next year's Quilt Show Chair) and the vote counter.

She was diligent emptying the ballot boxed ND counted every hour on Friday. 

I helped count a couple times.

I loved making this one.

I enjoyed my time of Stitching.

My "Green with Envy" Ribbon went to this Quilt.

Monday- Christmas in March

 

It was a Monday!!

Flat tire after parking at Powered by Fabric. 

Hubby came to the Rescue! 

In my Weekend of Sewing in the Hotel.

This was my Set up. 

I finished the Stars I had cut at the Class

With Janet Nesbitt. 

And sewed 4 Blocks

Today I found some Bonus Triangles in

 Christmas colors.

These are blocks from the Vintage Christmas 

Pattern by Lori Holt 

"Cozy Star Block"

I have a bunch more Bonus Hsts.

I loved using them up in a fun block.

I could make a Christmas table Runner.

We'll see!

 It's still Monday! 

But I will back up to Saturday. 

We had a Class with Janet Nesbitt

of One Sister Designs. 

Sponsored by our Walla Walla Valley Quilt Guild. 

We worked on making Stars for her 'Focus Quilt'

I started making them scrappy and realized they needed to be two fabrics. 

Glad I noticed before stitching them all wrong.

I still used the Frogger more than I wanted.

The Stars go into a triple Churn Dash

We came home to Spring in our Yard. 

Today, Paul Mowed the Lawn.

This morning was Tri-Cities Quilt Guild. 

We voted on the Quilt Challenge entries.

Theme is 'Origins'

The Quilts were fun to see hanging. 

We have to wait until Thursday to know 

which one got the most votes.

Monday - Rest Day

After a long weekend, my back just wants to ache and rest is best. 

I have so many UFO's that are calling to me.

I need to find someone to finish my Purple Jubilee Quilt.

"Betsy" is just not doing her thing after 10 years.

The Moth in the Window Quilt is still in the works.

Hubby keeps growing our of and wearing out his collars on his shirts.

It's time to get this one worked on.

I'll take it with me to the Tri-Cities Quilt Show Weekend.

I will have the evenings to sew in my room.

I'm thinking of Hour glass alternate blocks

 to use up some Stash.

Bonnie just put together a Shirt Stash Quilt

 on her Instagram.

It's a fun one. She calls it a Ladder Star.

That will be a pattern I can use more

Wow - Wednesday

 Wow Wednesday for the #IGQUILTFEST is WIP Organization

My WIP's (Works in Progress) are mostly in totes.

Stacked throughout the Basement and upstairs Bedroom.

 I have way too that are started.

My Start-i-tus is showing!

I like the colored ArtBin Totes.

I can stack the finished Blocks and 

the Block parts with a divider in between.

YES I am still working on my Quiltville Mystery 2024

My Quilt  was made with fabrics Tara chose.

I loved the large floral so much, I wanted to use it and Fussy-cut for the centers of 

Friendship Star blocks.

It was tricky to cut them and get enough 

out of the yard of fabric. 

Next it was time for Hsts

I love chain piecing theses hsts!

I love my Clapper and Olisio iron.

I couldn't have trimmed better than I 

did with the Glow ruler!

It's great for old eyes. 

I am in that category now.

I made 12 blocks.

I should have turned the blocks to be 

seen vertically.

Here's the flimsy top.

Regrettably I couldn't Quilt it myself.

I had it quilted at 

Walla Walla Sew Vac and Spas 

I paid for Minky to put on the back.

It will keep a cute baby warm.

There was big spots un Quilted.

The pattern I chose didn't nest like I 

thought it would.

I washed it and it's ok.

Not perfect, but better.

WOW-Wednesday

 It is another  Sewing, Stitching day.

Yesterday, I stitched the DDE (Digital Dealer Exclusive)

It was a practice in some of the techniques

we have learned on the Embroidery Machine.

The heart didn't end up being Chenille and the Fringe Flowers didn't fringe.

Gotta figure that out.

I couldn't find my Water Soluble Thread when I stitched it.

Day 5 IGQUILTFEST asks "Why do I Quilt?" Because I want to! I Love trying new tricks and techniques. I can hardly resist a Challenge and I have a lot of Projects that are now UFO's. I hope I live long enough to finish a few of them still. I Make Quilts that make me happy. I don't sell them, because then it would be a JOB! I have a lot of Quilty Fun at Quilt Shows and at my Quilt Guilds and Sew-ins. Quilting is more fun with friends.

Today Prompt is Charity Quilts.

This one started as a Charity Quilt.

I tried to sell it in the Makers Market at Tri-cities Quilt Show last year.

Blocks - D9P, I started at the 2017 Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days. 

I played Build a 9-Patch block with the fair-goers.

These were the Red White and Blue ones made.

I made a lot of the D9P Quilts in 2009- 2010. 

Can't go wrong with a Red White and Blue Quilt. 

Sashed and set straight.

Quilted with Stars Meander.

The Border fabric I bought in Nebraska.

I made this Quilts of Valor in 2014

The pattern is called "Valor"

7 Months ago.

I didn't mean for it to become a UFO.

But it is getting a turn on this UFO day.

I made my own precuts to use up some fabrics in my stash.

This is going to be a fun Quilt!

My Tri-Cities Challenge Quilt is progressing. 

No sneak Peaks today.

Voting happens at the March meeting.

It just needs and wants a Mitered Border, lol

How did I get started?

What makes it an obsession?

 Born and raised Washington State. 

Grew up under a Quilt.  

Been quilting myself since High School.

I love to participate in  #IGQuiltfest.

 It's fun to see that quilters are from all around the world. 

What make it an obsession for me is the Community.

I joined Quilt Guild when I moved to Walla Walla 20 years ago.

Since I joined the Quiltville and My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe

and Kimberbell and Missouri Star Communities.

Social Media has helped me be involved in more activities.

Now that I'm retired, I have more Sewing/Quilting Days.

My sew days are more fun with friends..
