Design Wall Monday - OMG May 30, 2016

My June OMG will be my Honor Star

My class at SEW n Vac is later this month.

June 8-9 4-10pm

This one was my first attempt at a Feathered Star.

The fabrics weren't available at the LQS so I made a second sample.

The month is almost over- I've been over many miles and  a few Bobbins have been used up.

The goals for May- Not so much---

1- Make the Secret Garden Block for May (pattern is printed already) DONE

2- Sash Farm Girl Vintage - Flimsy NOPE taking to RETREAT

3- Guild Lotto/Charity Block  DONE
4- 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks Not done
5- Quilt  the 2 Grand-daughter "Grandma Quilt Camp" quilts -Not done

  and my OMG Goal I will share on Monday's Design Wall 

Lori Holt - Quilty Fun  DONE and  DONE

My Block Count  for May = 10 lowly blocks

Two Quilt finishes makes up for that, right?

Betsy was being very good!!

I was on a roll had to keep quilting Friday.

Grand Illusion is Quilted

I used "Fandasia Daisy Fan"

The quilt was loaded sideways so the fans go Vertically.

I mirrored them every other row, the effect was interesting, wouldn't you agree?

DH says, it's time to do some Custom Quilts, make some $$$

I still have those 18 + to finish, plus all the ones he has no idea I have in my brain.

Friday FUN- OMG Goal Achieved!

I got the OMG quilt off  "Betsy" Thursday evening! Yahoo!!!

I love how it quilted up.

I quilted my Meadering Feathers all over it

(except for the last 6")

The last border has Buttercup feather border quilted one repeat at a time...

Betsy was being finicky again- restarting itself for no good reason.

I used a Fairfield 80/20 batting.

Final measurement is 66"x 66"

Just need to add the Binding and Label.

I started this SAL with Fat Quarter shop & Lori Holt in 2013.

My Grand Illusion is back on "Betsy".

It was on "Betsy" 31st of August last year HERE.

It's not easy to re-attach the layers after taking it off the frame.

I have 18+ TBQ in the tote.

I feel the need to get them finished so I can start something new at Retreat later.

I'm thinking of using the same pattern "Alfresco" as I used on my Gum Paper Jumble.

I just haven't seen anything else that has screamed at me to buy it.

If you have a suggestion I'm open to it.

Wednesday WOW - a few of my Favorites!

 If hours had been longer I could have spent more time here.

A beautiful Raffle Quilt in the Commemorative Booth.

I forgot to pre-buy my PIN so I got it HERE.

 Schoolhouse could take a WHOLE post. It was a long, FUN day.

 I attended all I could running between the rooms and floors of the Salt Palace.

 A couple I have shown already.

There were Door Prizes.

Lots of Inspiration quilt showing if they had a new Book or Fabric line.

I WON a FQ Bundle from Franny & Jane. 

I had to go to their booth after Market opened to get it.

Once I found it!

I said ; "I'm a Winner, Winner- Chicken Dinner"

Franny thought that was funny.

When I signed up for Market I chose my Classes and Seminars.

I enjoyed them all but, this one was THE BEST!

Angela Walters was part of a C & T Panel Discussion that I attended. 

Lots of good Information.

I caught her in the hall before the doors opened for a Picture.

Walking through I saw a crowd around the Handi-Quilter Booth.

I got there in time to watch Angela Walters and Christa Watson demonstrate how they FMQ.

 Longarm vs a Home machine.

After they did a Book signing and gave away copies of their NEW book to all who had a 'ticket'.

It was passed out before the demo.

I had plans so I jumped to be 1st in that line.

I already have a Farm Girl Vintage book...

This one is Autographed.

 At the Bee in my Bonnet Booth I had to get a picture again with Lori and one with her and Kass.

Sew much fun to have a daughter learning to follow in her footsteps.

Lori even remembered that Renee; one of her quilting buddies, is my Cousin.

Sample Spree was a Quilter's Overload of things to buy.

I came out with 3 bags full!

 2 NEW Bags from Cotton & Steel and one from MODA!

I'll share more of the Loot in another post.

 Today is the day to get that OMG Quilt on the table.

Design Wall that didn't happen...

I was travelling home from our road trip to Utah and Wyoming on Monday.

I didn't get a post pre-written and my wall is still the same as it was when I left home last week.

Thanks for the kind comments on the posts while I was gone.  

I try not to broadcast that I'm leaving town.

I have so much fun stuff to share from QUILT MARKET!!!

I hardly know where to start.

My first time to attend- maybe my only time...

It was just one of the reasons I went to Salt Lake City.

This is going to take a few posts, so many pictures to share.

I'll start with the #2 reason why I wanted to go to Salt Lake this past week.

My only Sister had a Birthday!

Here we are after watching the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Sunday morning.

Gentri was there to Sing with the Choir!  

My Sister called my Uncle and he invited us to come and go to the Payson Temple with them.

Our Uncle Cleve and Aunt Joyce live in Payson.

The Payson Temple is so BEAUTIFUL!

We drove by the Provo City Center Temple

Paul and I attended the Salt Lake Temple on Friday afternoon between 

my two Classes at Quilt Market.

I had scheduled a morning and evening class.

Crazy to do that - I know.

Learning from Deb Tucker on Saturday morning was a treat.

I didn't realize how many rulers she had in her Studio 180 collection.

Because I forgot to take my Rotary Cutter and mat, 

I had to just draw the cuts on each of the samples.

After we finished the class she let us BUY the rulers we had used at a Bargain cost.

She also said to go to her booth to get the Expansion set of rulers.

Next Posting I'll tell about the Sample Spree - WOW was that a Crazy hour!!

The Schoolhouse sessions I attended will have to be a 3rd Post.

Friday- Circa 2016

It's about time I got more blocks made for my Circa 2016.

The hour glass blocks aren't hard to make, just had to get them cut out!

Last week was Rail Fence Blocks.

The week before Bow Tie Blocks.

When DH asks me to find him more shirts I don't hesitate long.

It's fun to see how many I can get half off with the Color of the week.

The bottom one is PURPLE!

I see quilt blocks in these shirts I got for the DH.

How long before they wear out enough for him to request more?? lol 

Wednesday - WOW - Birthday Girl

It's this cute girl's birthday.

She'll be getting Baptized soon.

That means it was a Grandma Day to go get her, take her to eat and to get her a Journal.
She is Grandchild #12 and the last from her family to be baptized.

The Picture at the Columbia River Temple is Grandma's Favorite.

I can't just take one. The sun was shining brightly .
The Temple is closed on Monday so we couldn't get closer.

She has asked me to make her and her Doll a white dress.
That will happen later this month.

Design Wall Monday- May 16, 2016

I have a Block I made for a friend on my Design Wall today.

She is doing a Christmas Round Robin of these Star Blocks.

I like the Fussy Cut in the middle.

I remember a time I went to visit and her DH was making Bird Houses.

Digging in the Christmas Fabrics was fun on a Hot day.  

It got up to 90 degrees last week.

Then the rain came back.

Now I want to do a quilt like this...LOL
SEE what my Friend started?

Meanwhile back on the list of NEW starts.
 I have a few of these Green blocks from the Scrap club

 I want to make it bigger so I have to make a few more blocks.
I made this one Saturday night on "Priscilla" my Treadle.

They're like Potato Chips, I can't stop making them.
I find more Greens that call my name to be included.
So many shades of Green!
Next I'll have to decide on a color for the sashing.
Or just add borders without a colored sashing between.
Choices, Choices.

 I first saw this Block on Heidi's Blog HERE.
I loved her mini quilt she posted back in January.

I loved the fabrics she sent along with it too.

I said I would have to find a special place for it.  

One of our friends called and asked if I wanted a Sewing Machine table that they got at a Yard sale.

He said I had liked it when I saw it back then, so they offered it to me.

It's from a Kenmore, but it looks really nice in my hallway with this doll quilt on top.

WWVQG - WOW Show n Share

It was a BUSY night at Quilt Guild!

Many ladies brought their quilts to show us. 

I took my Doll Quilt Swap, the Gum Paper quilts and Daisy Chain

Because the Symposium  was held last month, we had stocked up the finishes.

The room was buzzing with 6 NEW members who joined. 

We are 119 members Strong.

The Raffle quilt Committee revealed the design and handed out more kits for the 9 patch blocks.

I was busy cutting strips for the next Charity Block.

 I didn't get a kit.

The Charity Blocks will be at the Sew-in this week-end to make Baby Quilts.

We had 16 Blocks donated.

 I see a rouge blocks from March in there.

May Block is 

"Grandma's Favorite"

 I had to revamp this one with the odd measurements in EQ.

I loaned out my easy Angle Ruler for those 16 hst's to a new member.

There were good comments for this block.  A Favorite for many.

It's a grandma day so we will see how many blocks I get cut/sewn.

EQ- 25th Anniversary Celebration

I posted back in March for the 25th Anniversary of EQ.  

It was so Fun to share how I use it.

I am just a Novice really and I learn through trial and error.

I find it is very User friendly.

I must admit I have had help learning what Icons to use on the Program. Thanks to other Bloggers who have done Tutorials.

My Favorite tool is Save the Layout in a BMP file.

I thought I would show how to do that. Step by Step.

I'm using one of the Guild Charity Blocks for this example. LONDON ROADS

1-Find the Quilt you want to make a BMP file of

2- Click up on the File tab, a drop down menu comes down - Go to 'Export Image'

 This box will appear-
3-Type in the name of your project (where it says File Name) and click SAVE

 This box will appear
4- Click 'OK'

 The file is saved to your computer.  You can find it in a Document file called My EQ7

Unless you have saved it into a specific file you have created.

 I have one called 'MOM' in My Documents.

This is how the BMP file looks.

 You can print it, upload it to your Blog, Facebook, or any Social Media.

If you just want to save a Picture of a Block- Click on the Worktable and a drop down menu will be shown.  You can work on Image, Block or Quilt.
1- Click on Work on Block

 Your Block will appear- or a bunch of blocks in the Sketchbook. Choose the one you want

 You can change the colors by click on the colors, place the arrow on the part you want to re-color.

 Repeat clicking until up like the changes.

 There is an "UNDO" button up there if you change your mind.

 SAVE the finished changes into the Sketchbook before exporting to a BMP file-

(it's next to the Undo)

1- Click on File- go to Export Image

2- Choose the folder on your computer- Mine is called "MOM"

3- Type in the name of your Block where it says 'File Name' - then click Save

4- Click 'OK'

 Options are there to save as an 'outline patches' or 'outline blocks'
I usually don't click either of the boxes. 

This time I un-clicked the top box "outline patches"

This is how the block will look as a BMP file.

No patch lines show, just the fabrics.

Just keep playing with your EQ!  You'll keep learning new things.
