Design Wall Monday -June 29-15 at Guild Retreat

I was able to attend my Quilt Guild Retreat Thursday- Saturday this past week-end.
It was close this year- just an hour 1/2 away in Boardman, Oregon.

The venue was great with lots of room and great lighting.

I drove home early Sunday morning to go to Church.
I took 7-8 projects to work on - made progress on 7.

I worked on the Double Wedding Ring Parts on Thursday
I think I have enough to put the quilt together.

I need to lay it our to make sure and there wasn't a big enough space to do it at the Retreat.
It will show up on a future DWM,

Next I put the Setting triangles on my Guild Lotto BOM- not quite the way I the way I had it in EQ7.

No place really to take a picture of it so I had to wait until I got home to take one.
The 6-7 Design Walls were very busy at Retreat.

On Friday, I made 1 of the 2 Farm Girl Friday Blocks.
I forgot to bring all the fabric to make the Fresh Pear Block.  I needed 30's Yellow.
Feed and Seed & Wooly Lamb #2
If I make a Lamb a week I'll have enough to make a Lamb Quilt.

Fat Quarter Shop "Snapshots" BOM were under my needle on Saturday.

I am all caught up on the blocks I'm making for my version of the BOM.

I had to make a 2nd Birthday Cake Block in Patriotic colors for the 4th of July coming up this week.
Jessica brought her pages to make her blocks so I borrowed the directions.

My TQS BOM from last year hasn't been touched since last October's Retreat.
The fabric and Blocks were still in my 3-drawer stacking tote I take with me.
I worked on these Saturday.
X Marks the Block, Yankee Puzzle, and Z Block
I needed a little more of the Lime Green to finish the X marks the Block.
I will finish this one and get the letters ready to Fuse on and stitch around.
Just the K, M, Q, R, S, U, & V Blocks left to make.

I took a pictures of a few the blocks I made, before I made the last stitch and packed up for the day.

I cut up the scraps from my leftovers and made two more Idaho Square Blocks.
The Yellow 30's with Kitties on it came from Cindy Carter.
I just couldn't use it for the Pear block.

I made two more Siggy Blocks for my Author's/ Quilt friend's Quilt

I counted 14 different blocks with 439 pieces made at Retreat.
That includes pieces of my Purple Butterflies that I cut and didn't finish getting sewn.
I have a few more parts to sew on, then I can finish them.

The ladies said I was crazy to sew such tiny blocks.
1- 1/2" is about as tiny as I go.
Cindy Carter was sewing with the tiny squares too.
She offers FREE Patterns on her Blog HERE
I made the Strippy Flowers Quilt for Lydia with her pattern back in 2009.
It was fun to Meet another Blogging friend in person and sew along with her.

It made me especially happy to see this quilt being worked on.
My Lotto WIN from January
I gave these 13 blocks to Sherry M.
Sherry was our Retreat planner! She did a great job.
I love how it was put on point and surrounded by the Red Snowflake fabric.
Variable Star Pattern is HERE
(a couple of other Lotto winning blocks were made into quilts, I didn't get a picture of them)

What I'm Working on Wednesday...

Bonnie Hunter is Tempting us again.  Cute little Butterflies found HERE.
Her time off is bad for my Staritus!!!
She announced her "official" New Leader/Ender of Tumblers, but that didn't tempt me at all.
I liked making the Idaho Square dance but they are very fiddly and hard to keep the seams nesting.
This one just looks FUN!

I will upsize the pieces to avoid those 3/8's & 5/8" measurements.
Will it work?  Let's see-
    I like it!

Gotta kit some up to take on Retreat this week.

I can see cute ones made with my scraps or done all with just 2 or 3 fabrics!!

TIP: Sew with the Square in a Square block on top.

I figured out how to eliminate a few seams and use my Marti Michell Templates.
I will be writing up this pattern after I make my full sample with these Kona Bay fabrics.

In my spare time I've been reading these books.
Jan Cerney is another AQS Author.

Design Wall Monday June 22, 2015

Friday I woke up early enough to make my Farm Girl Friday Blocks Before going to deliver the Birthday gifts long past due. I didn't get time to BLOG.
I fussy cut the center of the Farm Fresh Flower (E)

Yellow houses sell better I'm told.
Had to use the whole Alphabet to cut it out.

All the Blocks so far.

The Hotpads my Girls got for their Birthdays.
Not perfect but wonky is good sometimes.

The rest of the weekend was full of Baseball, a Funeral, Open House & of course Father's Day!
My DAD!  Miss him every Day!

Happy in my Cool Basement- Stitching away

It's HOT HOT HOT outside!
I had a Pajama Day and played with my "Snapshots" blocks from Fat Quarter Shop.
Camera Block pattern is HERE
I made a Boo Boo in my Block but didn't FIX it,
Maybe I will and maybe I won't...

Triple Scoop Sundae pattern is HERE
What flavors did I make?
Strawberry-Huckleberry & Blueberry
The "Alphabitties" sure do make the cutting and stitching easier.

I still need to make an Apron 'Kindred Spirit' Block and something to replace the Teapot.

When I put my Farm Girl Blocks up on the wall I noticed I had used Muslin background fabric in some of the blocks. That meant I needed to make them again.
It is handy to have some scrappy squares cut in various sizes.

I cut these Wooly Lamb blocks out and took time this week to sew them up.
I will stitch the legs on my Chicks and Wooly Lambs later.
There are no eyes on these lambs so they are Blind.
I'm caught up for now.

The FAIR Books are out and Registration online has started.
Next week we have a Superintendent Mtg.
the 149th Walla Walla Fair & Frontier days are just a couple months away.
The Theme for 2015 is:
"Walla Walla Fair- A Timeless Tradition"

A New Kids Class -Possibilities

My Finishing Kids class didn't happen and nobody signed up for the Rubies and Diamonds class.
so it's back to the drawing/Design Boards.
Thinking of using some Charm Packs to make a Mini/Doll Quilt or something small this time.
I haven't received my NEW Pre-Cuts that I ordered yet.
I had this stack of Greens just sitting on my Cutting table.
 UMMMM What can they become?

Let's start with a Basic 5" square and cut a few of each fabric.

With a few stitched seams they can become---
9  Patches

This is my New Start!
Many Possibilities
I was just 'clearing' my Cutting table off and got distracted...

A few more Stars in a Time Warp got sewn while I was making 9-Patches

& my Corn and Tomatoes block got done too.
 It's Farm Girl Friday!
I have 2 more Blocks to cut and sew.
It's week 7 of the Farm Girl Vintage SAL.

Quilt Guild Fun

Guild night was Fun!
We had a bunch from Pendleton visit us.
A Presentation from Nancy K on  4- Patch Slice ,
a quick quilt made from Charm packs and one more fabric.
[Click the purple highlighted words for the Tutorial]

I took 2- Z Cross Blocks to put in the Lotto

There were only 6 total and I was the Lucky winner with my #15.

For August we will make this Block
July is our Potluck and Treasure Sale.
It's called "A Dandy"
as in Yankee Doodle Dandy, I suppose.
I hope we get more than 6 blocks. A part of them could be donated to the AHQ in Jessica's honor.
The fabric constant is the Blue.
HERE is the link for this month's Block for the Guild Lotto/Block of the Month.

Design Wall Monday June 8, 2015

Farm Girl Vintage blocks are on my WALL
I still have one more to make from last Friday.

I made a quick trip to deliver a Late Birthday gift to #3 Granddaughter
Sometimes the Requests for Grandma to make something Special has to come to fruition.
It's been a long time since I made these Sew Sweet Dolls
The story could be LONG, but I'll just let the pictures tell most of it.
I used the "Katie" Doll body and changed the Hair and Dress.
I think I made her day, huh?

Friday was National Donut Day
So I had to swing by the NEW Krispy Kreme in Richland for my Free Donut!!
People were taking selfies and we all got one FREE Regular Donut.
The guy in the back was smashing donuts and discarding them- must be Quality control.
The lines were out the door when I left.  Glad I beat the rush.
Krispy Kremes, bet you can't have just one!
I bought a 1/2 Dozen to bring home.
I've only tried the regular ones before. They are only good HOT!

It was a very busy weekend with Graduations, Ballet, Birthdays and Anniversary celebrations.
Our #2 Granddaughter had her last Ballet and Tap Recital so we got to go and watch her Rehearsal.
My Brother and his family were together for a Graduation, Birthday and Anniversary.
So nice to see them together, if only for a short visit.

A little Sweets baseball was in the mix too.
It was Opening Day at Borleske
They WON!!!
Fireworks afterwards to Celebrate the great Victory

I did my usual Towels with names on for some of the Grads.
The ones I didn't get to see I sent $$ in their card.

WHEW, That makes me tired seeing all that I crammed into my Weekend.

Go HERE to see more Design Walls.
I have lots to get done this week with Guild and more Birthdays coming up.
