Friday- Blocks Blocks Blocks

I'm Retreating with about 40 of my Quilt Guild Friends. 

Here's my One Load of Quilt Supplies. 

I LOVE my Red Wagon! 

A Sewing Chair is a necessity.

I Shop Hopped on the way.

"Quilting on the Dry Side" started yesterday. 

My En Provence is on the Bed.

There was much stitching happening and "Bobbins" being used up!

 I decided to start by making some blocks.

These are for Ellen B. in Utah.

 Then I made Lotto Blocks for Tri-City Quilters Guild.

 I'm tempted to sew up the 30's Blocks I've collected so far...

This was the Sunset view.

 Ahhh, peaceful... Columbia River.

My Tula Blocks got sewn in Rows.

Not enough Room on this Design Wall. 

No Room to put up Mine, sigh...

I have them hung in reverse order.

Those similar Teal blocks on the right are bugging me. 

Since this is my OMG. 

I have to look at it again this morning. 

I could still FIX one of them...

Then they are ready for the Horizontal sashing. A few cornerstones are cut.

I might just get the Center done, yet.

When I  do, I can Link-up. 

Time to get up, but...

This bed is way too Comfy.

WOW-Wednesday--- Weekend, Blissful Weekend

There are no words for the Past weekend, really. 

It was WONDERFUL, Fabulous, and such a Fun,  much needed rest.

A bit of back story... the short version.

I called my friend, Ellen in Utah to inquire about an upcoming trip to the DUP Convention.

WELL, she had a better idea.

The Utah Quilt Guild was having a Ruby Jubilee Quilt Festival.

She and her sister entered quilts in the show. 

This is the 1st time for them and I was invited to join the fun.

I had some Airline Credit with my cancelled trip I didn't get to go on to Pennsylvania.

Searches happened, tickets purchased and the adventure began one week ago.

I missed the Tuesday and Wednesday happenings.

Thursday, I got there and just one look into the Room made me stop in my tracks and say "WOW!!!"

 My Friend had to work so I had the day to myself to wander.

This where it was held.

Coincendentaly, the same venue as the Daughter's of Utah Pioneers Convention in October.

 

This quilt is the one I Chose as my FAVORITE!

The Border treatment of cording was so amazing. 

The quilting and the Applique and Stars, and those tiny hst's in the Feathered Star.

Nothing about it that I didn't LOVE!!!

Doesn't it it make you go "AWWWWW"?

I walked around to see where the Mystery Clues were and low and behold... who greets me there?

My Friend, Deonn S is in the Sewing Room.

She took a break from her making quilts for her aunt to come with me for a picture. 

She said, "You're here, in person"

I loved seeing her "In Person" too.

I enjoy "spotting" her in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir each week.

This quilt had me looking more that twice, too!

After work, my friend joined me to do the Savenger Hunt in the Vendor booths.

Here is my good, good friend with her 1st ever Quilt Entry.

 Her DH is the Lucky guy who gets the quilt to cuddle with at home.

Doesn't he look like he owns it?

The fun continued on Friday when we got to see my friend's sister and Mom seeing their Quilt.

This beauty was hand quilted over the Summer to get it finished for the Festival.

Design Wall Monday - September 25, 2017

The Tula Pink Flimsy is still on my "Wall" or Floor in my mind..

The new "Spirirt Animal" line has a nice Pink fabric that I can fussy-cut for the cornerstones.

This is my OMG (One Monthly Goal) for the Month.

Scrappy would be nice, but too much going back and cutting them all individually.

These Blocks need to be sliced and made into a Charity Quilt.

Soon I will have a finish to show.

Have a Great last week of September.

The Rainy Season and a bit of snow in the Mountains tells me it's going to be a LONG Winter...

Friday - Fun Quilts by Joe Cunningham

I had heard how FUN it was to hear Joe Cunningham while I was at Sister's

I hadn't heard of him before they announced he would be our

2017 Featured National Quilter @ WWVQF.

They sold tickets for an Evening with Joe at the Marriot.

He Played his Guitar and shared his Quilts.

 At first I thought this was a Self - Portrait.

was I ever Wrong...

I had to get a Close up from my seat at the show.

Just a couple more of his Quilts.

It was fun to hear the stories that went with his Quilts.

Made from textiles not usually seen in My Quilts...

His Book Introduces us to 30 Quilters who are Men.

Wow- Wednesday - WINNERS!!!!

The Winners of the Walla Walla Quilt Show were awarded Saturday afternoon after I left.

I went back on Sunday to get pictures.

I wanted to see if any that I voted on Won Big!

Cheryl and I spent time together at Demos and walking around the show taking pictures. 

I'm sure she is Thrilled to have WON a Big Ribbon.

She lives in John Day, Oregon.

DD#1 chose correctly, she even knew that the block parts were Flying Geese.

I had fun using the Essential Triangle Tool to make this Block.

I wonder what a whole quilt of them would look like?

I used almost all of the Fat 8th I was given. Cute Fabric!

 Mine didn't get traced in the reverse so I made it go UPhill.

I used my Embroidery Machine for many of the Rows.

There is a LOT of stitching around the fusible.

I was asked which was my Favorite Row, that's hard because each one has a story.

Can you tell I was happy to see that BIG Ribbon on it when I got to the Show on Saturday?

STASH gave me a $25 Gift Card to spend in their Shop.

Started in 2015 with the SAL (Sew-Along) over at Bee in my Bonnet and Fat Quarter Shop.

I looked forward to Farm Girl Fridays!  tagging #farmgirlfridays and #fqsfun

Some  weeks I made more than one version.

The Alphabitties are SO Necessary, and just fun to use for the Photo ops.

After the SAL, Lori Offered more blocks as downloadable patterns at FQS.

I had to add the Cow and Pig and the Piece of Pie with the Fork.

This Quilt has recieved many, many looks and compliments.

It was awarded the Quilt Chair Ribbon back in March. 

The  WW Fair Quilt Judge liked it and gave it "Best of Show" in August.

I'm so glad Lori says, "You are the BOSS of your Quilt"

I have met Lori a couple of times now.

Design Wall Monday -WWVQF Challenges

Last week was BUSY with lots of Meetings.

Not as much Sewing as I'd like.

It ended well with the Quit Festival.

I can now show you what I was working on for the

"Paint the Town RED" Challenge.

I used the "Wonky House" pattern idea from Jacquelynne Steeves HERE

A few houses from the SAL Kaaren had last year and the RED Crayon from an Instagram post I saw.

The Border pieces were from the Beach BOM Pat Sloan had in 2015.

Remember the ones I made "wrong"?

I quilted it with the 'Beauty' Panto.

I kinda like how it turned out.

The Winning Challenge Quilts were much more creative.

We took her out for Lunch on Saturday.

Sunday was our Grandson's 13th

Good Deed Friday

I wanted to be in Portland today, alas the plans had to change and adapt to the forecast.

I read this morning that westbound Hwy 84 is OPEN.

No clue when the Eastbound to come home will open.

I feel I made the right choice.

 So that meant yesterday was my Chili Sauce Day.

A Big picking of Tomatoes that have been calling to me.

Every Year around my oldest son's Birthday,  I remember the night before his birth. 

I was making Chili sauce with my parents in Mesa.  #bumpercropoftomatoes2017

Here is the pot full of all the chopped ingredients, cooking all afternoon & night

.

It cooked while I went to my Relief Society Meeting.

We talked about the "harvest" and how it relates to the Challenges we have had this Summer.

Watching videos from recent Conferences, reading of the many roles of Christ,

and reading selected chapters from the Book of Mormon. 

We made Fresh Salsa and Dill Pickles.

I chopped ONIONS again, like I hadn't already done enough at home all day.

Fresh onions are more potent and both of us choppers were in tears cutting them.

(someone should have not worn her mascara)

I did get the quilt loaded for Wendy, my Friend in Utah.

It's very Colorful and bright.

I pre-washed the tie-Dye Flannel Backing and sewed the seam to make it big enough.

The pattern she chose is this Star.

 I found this verigated thread to use on the top.

And another Good Deed today will be taking a turn sitting at the Guild Booth at the Quilt Show.

Since I hadn't signed up, hoping to be gone today, I volunteered last night.

This is the first year I didn't help hang the Quilts and get a Preview of them.

Another plan change came this morning.

DD#2 needs to do Lunch on Saturday rather than today.

Her Birthday is on Monday and I have Tri-City Quilt Guild.

Will I see you at the Quilt Show?

There's BBQ Pulled Pork and LOTS of Pretty Quilts to see and Vote on.

My 2 Grand-daughters Quilts are there too.  

I can get a GOOD full Picture of them, YEA! 

I hope Lynn sends me a picture of my Quilt hanging at Trends.
