I Did a THING!

Because I was home all week and not in California as planned...
My thoughts went to what can I do to make this week count?
There were many other things I could have done.
The beginnings of a Book Quilt from Jenny's Tutorial HERE

She used a Layer cake. I went totally from my scraps and STASH.
I watched it grow all week.

Which way should the books lean??

5 rows, ready to stitch together.
I moved them around a bit.
I loved making the Rose in the vase Block.

Rows all sewn- across.
I figured it would be easier to embroider the tiles of Books on the quilt in rows.
I spent a day stitching on the first row of books into the WEE hours.
I think I need a different stabilizer to avoid puckering.

What do you think?
DD#1 provided the Book Titles from her family.
She told me her NEW bookcases are more Gray than Tan, oops!
Maybe the shelves should be Gray.
I'm leaving the background Tan.
I had a whole bolt of the Tan fabric from Kona Bay.
I sort of looked like wood to me.

We were able to attend the memorial Services for Cary.
Family is Forever and I am so grateful for that.
Happy 1st day of Summer!!

My Grandpa William Brown was born on this day 139 years ago today.
You can go HERE and read more about him.

And a Handsome Prince named William also was born 40 years ago.

Plot Twist!

Well, we thought we'd take a week away from Home!
I booked us to fly to California this week.
Hotels and rental car all paid for in advance.
We woke up early and made our way through Security,
no waiting when you print your boarding Pass at home.
Only glitch was my Ice pack in my Lunch bag. opps!

Thankful for the tip to take an empty Water Bottle through Security.
We filled it up while waiting.
Only to receive an email and a text that our flight had been canceled!
I was able to secure the Rental car refund and the Allegiant refund will come too.
The Hotel I had paid for a non-refundable rate.
Thank goodness I could get home and call again and talk to someone who said "No problem,
Refund will take up to 7 days."
WHEW!
For reason's we might never know, we were blessed.
Now we are NOT missing the memorial for our beloved Brother-by-Love.
I had the thought Sunday that we shouldn't go to California.
If I had tried to cancel then I would have NOT received any refunds.
The Lord is watching out for us.

I told Paul that he should have said we could go to Omaha instead of telling me NO.
Now I have a week that would have been fun...that now will be spent at home.
Or on the road to Eltopia 2 days in a row.

It's all good and we are glad our Temple will re-open next week.

This week is also NaDell's 40th Birthday!
Last week was Kori's!

Yes, I'm playing the Pollyanna "Glad Game"!

This quilt is almost finished.

I have 4 extra of the Chain Blocks, so I might add another border.
I altered the patterns to start and end with the Birds in the corners.

This is Us at the Sweets Baseball game last week!
The rain held off until almost the end of the 8th inning.
we were losing so we left early to get out of the rain.
Sharing my Pretty umbrella that Janessa gave Me for Mother's Day.

Monday, Monday

This is what our house looked like after I mowed it last week.
I think it's my first time to Mow it here.
Janessa said I missed a spot, but I can't see it on this picture.

My Sister Moved back into the Barn she lived in after their Mission.
There are Barn Quilts on the Barn now.
I had to take a Photo.
Prairie Flower, I think??

Lone Star

I cut a few Peonies and Roses to have in the house.
I can't put them too close to DH...

We had a good weekend celebrating Coy's HS Graduation at Zillah.
Look at that rainbow

Janessa drove us. She wanted to go see Coy and to meet Ezra before he has a baby brother.
It was nice until the very end, we took our umbrellas.
Thanks for driving!
We drove out on Saturday for the Graduation Party.

Not much time for stitching.
I did take a Hand Quilting project but forgot my thimble.
