End of July- NewFo reporting- August Goals

Again I did not work on the proposed project-

Grandchildren Word Play Quilt

(I moved it to September, maybe I can work on it at the FAIR!

 Their were just too many other Projects that called to me---

My July Goals were mostly met.

1-Catch up Market Day blocks HERE Flimsy

2- Make M & C Quilt Blocks x 61 Need 12 more blocks

3- Join the  Cut - Press - Sew - Quilt SAL HERE - Moved to August

I should have put my proposed NewFO on my Goal list...

 NewFO #1 - I started the Bouquet of Friendship Quilt and worked hard to finish it
 to "flimsy' in July at Retreat.

Too bad My Count was off by 12 when I laid it out on Tuesday.

I webbed and sewed the center together

the 3 borders are all sewn too.

It will be back to the Sewing machine for some power sewing again for that 4th border.

Then I am asking for suggestions on the color to fill in the parts where the floor is showing through.  

I had hoped to use a LT Green or maybe a Tan might be better.

NewFO #2- I also collected some Rows with lots of HELP from my Family and Friends.
I posted the 8 rows I finished HERE
I played around with the rows most of the day Wednesday.
It is now finished and on my Quilt Table.

I hope to have it quilted by the time this Post goes live!
I want to take it to share at the Quilt Shops in Kennewick and Richland on Friday.

American Made- Farm to Fabric Challenge/ Row by Rows

I am working hard to finish a quilt to register in the Farm to Fabric Challenge  HERE. 

I got my fabrics, I have a design in my head. 

The deadline is coming up too quick, but I work best under pressure- RIGHT?

I'll be cutting into this pile of Pretty fabric very SOON!
The best part is the fabric is a LOT less than the normal Fabric at the LQS-
 I paid $7.14/ yd today.

Registration is June 15- August 15, 2014 

It has to a minimum of 25" square. 

It could be chosen for the exhibit at Houston Quilt Market in October.
Can you hear me jumping up and down if that happens!!???

I ignored the ones that said to take out the Lime Green one.

Melissa got this row for me in Bothell

and this one in Tacoma

My Rows are all DONE- Not perfect but DONE-
Now on to the assembly and the Quilting.
It looks a bit like a Calendar quilt -so I put the rows in this order.

Taking suggestions for a border and sashing color.

The 4 "Mary's" ( Me, Marilee, Mary Margaret and Mary Kathleen) took a break on Friday for Lunch

 at the Pataha Flour Mill.

My wrap wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but the Homemade Fresh Onion rings were great!
While waiting for our Lunch we browsed the artifacts on display.

There were collections of Instruments, Pianos, Organs and a few quilts upstairs.

 I was astonished at the small fee charged for this quilt with all that fine quilting!

Downstairs there was a room and wall of Cameras to look at--

some from early 1800's and some that were from 1970's

This Village collection was BIG!

 There was even a Nativity

We had a Show and Tell along with our Power sewing too.

Progress achieved at RETREAT!!!

We had our 2nd annual SE Washington Retreat @ RatherBe's in Pomeroy.

It's only a little over a hour away and SO convenient for me to get there.

I took a Multiple of Projects to work on.

1- My Row by Rows

2- M & C's Bouquet of Friendship

and 4-6 more that I won't mention.

I sewed all of the 1-1/2" Pieces together the first day and got them trimmed.
Then I moved on to stitching the HST's 

All sewn, cut apart and pressed.

The afternoon of the 2nd day I finally got enough parts, trimmed to the 3-1/2" size

 YEA! Now I could Start assembling the Blocks. All 60 of them...

The first 25- Done and Pressed are stacked there to my left.
I did get all 60 of them made, #61 is hanging there behind me.
25 Blocks make the Center of the Quilt. (they are turned on-point)

YES, I was standing on a chair to get a good picture of the Floor.
YES, I have Purple Polish on my toenails with my Purple Flip Flops!
This is what 61 Blocks looks like-I'm too tired to lay them all out.

Next it was time to pull out one of the Row by Rows to work on.
Melissa D brought the Row by Rows that she and her son collected on the Wet-Side of the State for me.
 I am glad for my Son  and my Friends who have helped me get my Rows!
I couldn't have collected enough without them all.

We decided to work on a row together to share and figure out the ruler for THIS row.

I used the ruler - but not the way it was described in the pattern- Oh my!!!

They really need someone else to TEST these patterns before they pass them out.

 Melissa D drew the pattern out and paper pieced hers. You can see it HERE.

 3 wonderful stitching days with my WASIQ (Washington State Internet Quilters) 

I plan to be there as Early Thursday as I can get there and leave Saturday when I feel like it. 

This year I wanted to get home so I could be rested for Early Church.
I don't Stitch on Sundays.
 I try my very best to keep the Commandment that says "Keep the Sabbath Day Holy"!

I got my car loaded and drove out of the driveway and remembered I had left something in the Fridge.

I turned at the next driveway and went back. 

 Left the car running- AC on Max HIGH and promptly hit the lock button and closed the door!

Some days you just can't WIN!

Lucky for me there are Friends who have AAA and they called for a guy to come and unlock my door.

How many quilters does it take to unlock a door??

My only Group shot- minus ME and the Quilter who left earlier on Saturday.

 who was a bit later than the hour they promised. just saying...
We were trying to play the "Glad game", here.

I didn't know there was a Barn Quilt so close to where I live.

Pioneer Day 2014

I'm not anywhere that CELBRATES Pioneer Day like they do in the Great Salt Lake Valley!

Our Ward is putting together Hygiene kits tonight for the Carlton Fire Rescue.

I won't be there.

I guess I CELEBRATED Sunday when I wore my Dress and all my Daughter of Utah Pioneer Pins.

Busy Pj Stitching My Row by Rows

I have stayed in Pj's the past two days putting more of my Row by Rows together.

I have collected enough Patterns to have a choice of which rows to include.

If I collect more I'll make a 2nd quilt.

These two went together fairly quick!

Then I started cutting and piecing the 220 pieces for the Leavenworth Row (below)

I laid them out on my Long Design Board I used to use for Quilt Guild.

 The 3 piece units - Connecting the two Mountains here, took some figuring out.

 Whew!!! It is DONE!

I only have to un-sew a few places that got turned wrong... 

4 Rows Finished -Tuesday afternoon.

These aren't in the order I'm assembling the rows. 

After working on the hardest row, I took time to make this week's BOW for my Loyal Union Sampler

D-4 Farm in the Valley

While I watched QuiltCAM on Quiltville.com,  

I cut out the Pieces to make the Row my Son picked up for me in Ephrata @ the Fabric Patch.

The hardest part was finding Blue fabric for the backgrounds.

 I put the Wheelbarrow in the Summer part, and added White Clouds.

This one will have some embellishments (buttons) added after it is quilted.

3 More rows left to make and then I can quilt it and take it up to a Quilt Shop in Tri-Cities or Oregon.

I haven't noticed any winners LOCALLY yet. I have 3 stores to check that are an hours drive.
