Last Minute Mary - Better late than not at all!

My OMG goal is Quilted!

I can officially Link-up HERE  with Heidi.

Gum Paper Jumble is ready for it's binding.
I got to test out another quilt pattern on "Betsy"
"Alfresco"

Tuscany Batting in a Crib size and using up some UGLY stash for the Backing.
This Goal feels so Good!
I can go into May and be ready to play with my New goals

My Block count wasn't great. Only 52 DONE.
Of those - 4 were for my Loyal Union Sampler,  3 made this week.

My grandson helped me choose fabrics for a couple of these.
The Yahoo LUS Group has finished the 1st round of the blocks of the week.
I counted and marked off each block in my book so I don't have to make any more duplicates!
I have 3 already.
The Eq7 Layout is updated.
52 more to make - 20 that are easy enough that I wish I had made them already.

May Goals
1- Make the Secret Garden Block for May (pattern is printed already)
2- Sash Farm Girl Vintage - Flimsy
3- Guild Lotto/Charity Block
4- 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks
5- Quilt  the 2 Grand-daughter "Grandma Quilt Camp" quilts
and my OMG Goal I will share on Monday's Design Wall

Have a great Week-end.

Friday - Fun Day

It's Fun, because I'm grounded again.
It's been a Grandma Day all week.

Yesterday was the only day to get away,  & I did!

I met up with Marlene of Kissed Quilts
She was in town teaching at the Walla Walla University.
I had a short window of time to catch her.
I got a selfie with her just for fun!

She thought of me when a lady at a Retreat offered up some Civil War "T" Blocks.
I took a picture this morning to share.
39 Blocks and some block parts
They were hand sewn.
I'll have to think on this a while.

We talked a few and I asked if she was going to SLC Quilt Market.
Now I wanna Go!
How many things can I re-arrange on my calendar???
I think I'm a bit over scheduled.

Meanwhile the rest of the day I did a couple Embroidery designs and went to watch
our Violyn, Marimba, Bongo playing grand-daughter.

Sometimes I just have to go and see!
It's nice to be invited.
This was the only night I had open to go.
They switched around for each different number.
Swapping the mallets and dancing to the beat.

Her Music Teacher played the drums and here my Grand-daughter is playing the Bongos!
I asked her how she memorized all those tunes?
There was NO sheet music in sight.
I'm glad Grandpa & I could go and watch.
I took no pictures of her siblings who had their faces painted.
Crazy kids!

Have a great Friday- Fun Day!
I'll be here trying to make up my mind about Quilt Market...
Early Bird discount end tomorrow.

Wednesday Reveal - Doll Quilt SWAP

My package hasn't arrived from the UK, YET.  Maybe later today.
YEA!! after 3pm but it arrived.
It's like CHRISTMAS!
Wrapped like a present!
The quilt and goodies from Gisele
fabric FQ's, Paper piecing diamonds, and a homemade card.
Her quilt is hand quilted, sew sweet!
I'll have to find a  special place for this one.

Judy C received mine so I can show you now!
 No more sneaky peeks.
"Friendship Stars"
It was sew much fun to sew this one on "Priscilla"
I made my 'humble' version of 9-patches with some Friendship Stars.
They are 5" unfinished blocks.
That made the little quilt 18" square with sashings, a small border and binding.
I quilted it on my Bernina.

Here's the Toile backing fabric
(I included some in Judy's package.)
 & the Label
Many Thanks to Lori of Humble Quilts for the Doll Swap again this year.
I'll link this post up there when she calls out for the link-up.

It's been another Grandma Day.
3 days this week, with early Release today.
Thanks for being patient for this posting.
I know many have been awaiting the big REVEAL!

Design Wall Monday - April 25, 2016

Time to link-up my OMG for April HERE

I didn't get all of my Goals accomplished this month.
April Goals
1- Sew Borders on & Quilt the Daisy Chain DONE
2- Make 1930's Farmer's wife Blocks - I've missed a few in the past weeks. Nope
3- Sew the April Secret Garden Block DONE
4- and my OMG (One Monthly Goal)
Quilt  my 2nd version of Gum Paper Chain - Nope
Gum Paper Jumble. (no Full Picture yet)

There is still a week to get the Gum Paper Jumble Quilted
Then I can really Link up.

2 out of 4 isn't BAD.
I had "Grandma's Quilt Camp", went to 2 Quilt shows and a LOT of baseball games this monthI even squeezed in a Doll Quilt SWAP quilt that should be arriving TODAY.
I will reveal the full picture when Mine arrives from the UK and when I know Judy C has hers in Nebraska.

Here's what I can show on my WALL today.
I know it's not much...
Along with the 3 color 9-patches I made some Friendship Stars.
Here's a sneaky peek at one of the first layouts, I tried.

Last year I made two Quilts for the Doll Quilt Swap and quilted them together on "Betsy".
See that one Friendship Star leftover?
That is the start of a 2nd CW Doll Quilt for ME!
I have a few 2" squares and hst's left, so it won't take too long to make a few more.

I had way too much fun sewing the blocks on "Priscilla"!

I saw her twin at the Seaport Quilter's show in Clarkston on Saturday.

This was part of their Featured Quilter's Display.
I saw many quilts that 'inspired' me.

Look at this Basket Quilt.
Tiny blocks sewn over 2 years at her Tuesday Stitcher's group.
I had to take a closer-up picture.
It says there are 292 tiny baskets.
Julie and I I both thought that it needed more quilting around the baskets to show them off.
I'm so glad Julie told me about this quilt show.
Paul was off so he drove me there.  It's a rare Saturday when he is off work.
He drove to Asotin and looked around the Hell's Canyon area while I walked the quilt show.

This Vintage Signature quilt GOT me!!!

I have a bunch of these blocks from a SWAP with my SBS Yahoo Group in 2011.
I need a few more...
Do any of my Blogging friends want to make me a Civil War Album Block to add to my quilt???
I will send you a strip of the Kona Cream fabric if you need it.

They are shown in the Full Version of Jennifer's Quilt HERE
The pattern is found in her book, More Elm Creek Quilts HERE

Maybe this will be my OMG for May???

Earth Day - Giveaway

It's EARTH DAY!!
What better thing than to conserve electricity...
I have been busy getting my Doll Quilt Swap made on my Treadle machine; "Priscilla".
I hesitated making it that way but the short seams didn't do too bad.
I didn't quilt it on her.  I opted to test out my BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator).
I promised a sneak peek today.
I started out making these 3 color 9-patches.

I put a small piece of Blue painters tape for my 1/4" line.
It worked pretty good.
The tricky part is having enough hands to pull out the pins, keep the seam together and guiding it straight though the machine.
I can tell you it's all a process!
The quilt is complete and will go into the mail later today.

I woke up to an e-mail from The Quilt show that had a link to the winners at Paducah.
Click the Link HERE to see them.
I was amazed at how many of the winning quilts were quilted on a home machine.
Paducah and Houston are still on my BUCKET LIST.  Someday...

I know everyone loves a giveaway and I've been wanting to do one.
The Temecula Quilt Company mentioned they will be using this Mini Quilts Magazine from Better Homes and Gardens in future SAL's.
I found it at my local JoAnn's and picked up an extra copy.
I will also include one of my Craft Sized Bamboo Batting I got on my Road Trip.
ONLY for USA residents, sorry.
Just leave me a comment with your favorite quilt Block.
I'll leave it open until May 4th.
Come back then to see if you're a WINNER.

I have enjoyed the Circa 2016
The tiny blocks help boost my Numbers.
What block will we make today?

Day Tripping - Fabric Acquisition exursion

Monday was the first time for me to attend the Tri-City Quilter's Guild.
It was a BIG relief to see a few of my Friends I already knew there.
I was 1 of the 12 NEW members that joined or renewed membership at the Quilt Show.
I even got my name tag made!!!
There was a reporting of the 2016 Quilt show and they even announced the New Chair of 2017 Quilt Show, the Theme, Special Exhibit & Challenges.
It's going to be fun to be involved with next year's show.
I have entered my Quilts, but never got to be part of the Challenges.
SAVE THE DATE!!!
March 24-25, 2017

After the Meeting they had a SEW-cial, I decided that I needed to skip it this time
and run my errands.  I forgot to take something for Show and Share.
I brought home a couple of the Community Service Blocks to sew for the next meeting.

The first errand was to get my tires checked.
Paul noticed the front passenger tire was bulging, the tread was separating.
45 minutes and some $$$ later I have a tire to safely take me where I want to go.

Next stop - Hancock Fabrics in Yakima.

I pulled up and saw that it was the LAST 7 Days.
So many sad memories of my time in 2007 when our Hancock Fabrics closed.
I feel compassion for the ladies who will not have their favorite job anymore.
Hancock Fabrics stores will be NO MORE!!!
The store was SOOOOOO Empty.
I did find a few things that had to come home with me.
Bamboo Batting - there wasn't any other batting left.
 a few FQ's
Not my regular colors - interesting prints
Mettler Threads - Poly Sheen and some Quilting Gutterman
This Toile jumped into my cart
It will make a great backing fabric for my Doll Quilt Swap.
I just got the e-mail that mine is on it's way from the UK!

I had a NEED for some pretty White fabric.
This embroidered fabric will make a beautiful Baptism & Temple Dress.
I took one of the quilts Grandma Zora C left to find a border or backing for it.
Jeffery chose this quilt- I will quilt it and get it to him when I see him next.
Close but not really what I was looking for.
Maybe for the backing???

A trip to Yakima isn't complete without a stop HERE.
The burger was big enough for my Lunch and Dinner.
I brought home a de-constructed burger for Paul.
They packaged the condiments separately.
OH, and a Snicker's Milkshake!

My children have many memories of stopping at Miner's after a Ballgame or Tennis Match.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
I'll just be here stitching on my Doll Swap quilt so I can get it in the mail.
Sneak Peek Pictures hopefully on Friday or next Monday's Post.

Design Wall Monday April 18, 2016

I have something new on the Floor/Wall this week!
My Secret Garden Block for April is completed.

I have my blocks pinned to the  18" design board I bought from Fat Quarter Shop.
Pat Sloan recommended it.
I love the 16" BIG Blocks for this Project.
So much Bigger than the tiny Blocks in my Block of the Week for LUS, 1930's FQ and SBS,
Even the Splendid Sampler and the Farm Girl Vintage Blocks are all 6 1/2"

Pat is going to be in UTAH this MAY.
I'm thinking of going to UTAH to see her.  I'd just go for the Trunk Show, I think.
Read more about it HERE

No I haven't cut out any of the Spendid block YET!.
I do love the designer stories that go with each one.
The latest one is "Measure Twice, Cut Once".
Pat asked us how many Tape Measures we have.
I have too many to count!!

Update on my 4-Patch Challenge with my Granddaughters.
I'm making mine on "Priscilla".
I put a piece of Blue Tape on her for the 1/4" line.
Here they are all stacked, there are a few duplicates.
I'm using up scraps.
We'll see what we make with them when we get together next time.

Today is my 1st Tri-City Quilter's Meeting and a SEW-cial.
I'll have to post pictures from it later.  Have a great Monday in Blogland.

Friday Fun!

It's FRIDAY!!!!
I finally have a day with NO where to go and I can sew!
I have a Bunch of small Blocks to make, and a few Big Blocks too.

I need to make a bunch of Circa mini blocks.
Last week included directions HERE to make 120 2" hst's

Here are last weeks blocks and 2 bonus hst's
More hst's are needed to make todays blocks HERE

I cut a bunch of 2 1/2" strips and 2" strips to use the easy angle on.

This Itty Bitty eights ruler helps make accurate cuts.
I WILL get the little blocks caught up. Strips pre-cut will make it easier to do.

I challenged my Granddaughters to make 4-patches after they finished their quilt tops last week.
E got into it and is way ahead of me.  I took a picture of hers, but it blurred.
To make it fair...
I have to make mine on the Treadle.

I promised more pictures from the Tri-Cities Quilt Show.
The Winning Quilts are listed on the website HERE.

It was fun to see all of these Quiltville mysteries hanging in the Show!

Even one of this last year's "Allitare" Mystery!

This one isn't one of Bonnie's...I had to put my hand there to show how tiny these Bow ties were.
They were Paper-pieced.

There's a Quilt Show in Moscow, but I don't think I'll make it there...sorry Julie can't go on Saturday.
Have a great Weekend!
It's looking like Spring around here.

I caught this Rainbow last night after the Grandson's Baseball Game.
I posted it on FB with this comment...
"My Mother by love always looked for the Rainbow! I like to think she was peeking in on Jackson's game tonight."

Keep looking for the rainbows in life!
