Army Boy in the Snow

Here's the snow that came this week. My son, Jeffery wasn't happy to see it come. Me either, but thanks to my 3rd son, Brant I can park my car in the garage! Jeff was putting his license plate on the front of his truck. It's been so nice to have him home. He has gone to visit his grandparents in Mesa and saw some of his aunts and cousins there. He has now met all 5 of the niece and nephews that were born since he left home and moved across the country when he joined the Army. Janessa and Jes brought Jackson to meet him tonight and had dinner of homemade hamburger stew with us. They drove from Vancouver tonight. This is one of the pictures of his son that he took while he was home in Ohio. He reminds me of Jeff as a baby. The blue eyes and reddish hair. Jeffery was "chubby" then too. Ben will be a year old this coming month. Grandma C. has a quilt in mind to make for him. Vroom Vroom... Tonight we are praying for safe travels for Brant, Tina and Christopher. On Sunday all 6 of our Children will be together for the first time since August of 2006. A Kodak moment in the making!

He's Home- Christmas a bit late! EDITED

Sgt Jeffery Crowther arrived home in Walla Walla about 4:30 Saturday. He had foggy weather coming through the last part of the Blue Mountains into Pendleton and Milton-Freewater. We had dinner almost ready for him and Christmas gifts that have been saved for him since he's been gone. I know, Christmas was while ago and now I can take the tree down, maybe later tonight... or Monday. I finally got the pictures we took with Jeffery turned the right direction so they could be uploaded -not sideways. We're not happy at all to have our son HOME!

Back to the Quilt shop & a Tipped truck

This week we got back into the "Thread & Bolts"Quilt shop at Lynn's to work on the Guild raffle quilt and our row robin's for WASIQ. It was fun to get back to our normal routine after the long winter break. Lynn is still recovering from her shoulder surgery so I will only go once a week for a while. It is such a relief to have this Raffle Quilt almost to the 'flimsy" stage. We put it up on the biggest design wall and before it was all the way pinned up, Lynn stepped back and looked... This is how we put it up. I couldn't believe we put it up wrong! This is how we designed it to be. Set on point! Lynn has suggested we name it a "Bouquet of Flowers" or "Bouquet of Friendship" since we requested that the ladies in the guild use floral prints in the blocks. The block is called the Friendship Block. We have enough blocks left to make a charity quilt- baby sized. Now we want to make a set of identical quilts, in the same setting, since we can't ever buy enough raffle tickets to win this one. Just as a side note Jeffery has arrived in Idaho Falls with a few gallons of gas to spare. The picture is of his truck after he slid off the road near Rawlins, Wyoming. He will be HOME in Washington on Friday! Yea this ARMY mom is one Happy MOM!

Paul's 55th

Sunday was Paul's 55th Birthday. After our Church Meetings I finally got the Bishopric together to get a picture. They have been in their callings for over a year. I forgot to take a picture the day they were sustained, and haven't had the chance until now to get them all in the same room with me and my camera. Pictured l-r: Stan, Paul, Dave and the Executive Secretary Chad. After their meetings in Richland the Ransom's came to visit. Here is Grandpa Paul with Olivia, Vincent and Elizabeth. And yes, my Christmas tree is still up! Jeff will be home this week. He has told me I can take it down, but he realizes I will do what I want to anyway. He hasn't been home since 2006 and not home for Christmas since he joined the ARMY over 4 years ago. Thanks for all the phone calls and good wishes. Paul had a good day! We didn't get our "Sunday nap" but we will survive. We played a game of Phase 10 and wonder of wonders, I WON! That never happens.

Sweets to/from My Sweetie

Here are the Sweetheart gifts and cards we exchanged this year. I think I'm blessed with enough Chocolate for the week-end. I am blessed to have a sweetheart to live happily with. Also pictured is the Picture from our "Night in Vienna". We didn't dance, but enjoyed the fireside talks from the Springen's. Milton would have especially liked the one that was related to the tools in a tool box. I wore the red dress and I found a black tie with black outlined hearts and a single red heart on it. Now he has a Valentine tie... These are the pictures of my 13 grandchildren all on one shelf in my basement where I can see them. They don't fit in the window well anymore. The pictures in them are some of the first ones taken after they were born. They are all much cuter now! I especially like the ones where they are asleep. Precious babies straight from heaven...that's what life is all about!

Almost Valentine's day

I am very tired from the busy week! I wanted to wish everyone a "Happy Valentine's Day! Last year Milton & Christen and Joe & Kori came to the Valentine Dance at the Church. It was fun to have the "Copious Notes" sing Happy Birthday to Paul the "Winter Escape" was held the day after Valentine's day; his 54th birthday. How can we top that? NaDell & Andy had a 2 week old baby so they didn't get to come. Since I wasn't Blogging last year at this time I posted a picture of all of us that day. The Fireside/Sweetheart dance is tonight this year and we get to go the the Youth Dance tomorrow night also. I will wear the red dress I made a couple of years ago, I hope it still fits. No time to make a new one. I would like to go and get my hair done at Danette's but I know she'll be busy at her salon and I don't want to be too tired from traveling to 'dance'. HAHAHAHA! If Janessa were here she would style my hair, I bet. Milton & Christen, Joe and Kori both have new babies since the dance last year so I don't expect to see them there this year. If any of you want to come the fireside starts at 7pm. You're welcome to come. I saw the Decorations when I went to Relief Society last night. So dress up in your fancy schmancy best. My Dear Hubby took me to dinner Monday night since we knew it was a BUSY week. Afterward he suggested we go to the store and "look at cards". This is funny to him, we read the cards then show them to one another and put them back. I didn't want to do that right then, so we shall see what he finds.

Getting ready for Quilt Guild-Pics added

I have spent much of my day getting my things together for Guild tonight. I made my Lotto block before the mtg last month, for this month, YEA!My quilt buddy is in charge of the Block Lotto this year, so I got this month's done already too. Actually I made 3 of the wrong block come to find out.So I made the right one just in time to go, here's the pic of it...I made the required blocks that were requested for the past co-chairs...I 'borrowed' back one of the quilts from Christmas that I haven't shown before at guild for "show and share"... This is Joe and Kori's Christmas Quilt - all done.I have something for my Secret Pal, the treats (Strawberry Tarts) are in the works. If I was really good I'd have my House blocks and 1st steps quilts all done. Instead I started a new Block of the Month - Ugly Fabric 'Sunshine Sampler'. I got the 1st block done yesterday. I am working on my February Row Robin row for Babs also. I need to send it on to Lynn the 15th. There is always room for improvement, right and like Scarlett always said, "Tomorrow is another day..." I could post pictures but then everyone would drool... Maybe I'll add some after Guild tonight. Check back then... So it is after Guild- I've added pictures as promised. I have to post a picture of our resident male member's winter project. he hand appliques and designs these blocks to teach at the LQS, then he hand quilts his quilts too. He wins the "people's choice" every time he enters a quilt show. This is what I just opened from my secret pal. A set of quilty coasters in Purple! Aren't they pretty??? And the cake that my quilt buddy made for our Guild refreshments... just to make you drool! This cake is a double layer 12" Italian Ice cake with cream cheese frosting, pink coconut and walnuts on top. It was so yummy!!!! Her Dear Hubby made the centerpiece heart just for tonight for her.

Longtime - No Blog

It's Catch-up time! Sorry for the Long Post! Tuesday - Paul & I left Walla Walla in separate cars to attend the Temple with his extended family. Lee; in the center, is going on an LDS Mission to Argentina. Here he is with his parents and his maternal and paternal grandparents! Aren't they a handsome group? After I took some pictures at the Temple I went to Pasco... Paul drove home to WW. I have been incognito by my own choice. I spent Tuesday eve-Friday with Joe and Kori and Sons. My Dear Daughters and Daughters in law do all the work of getting these precious little ones safely here. Her Relief Society even brought in the meals so, I didn't even have to cook. Now I'm well-versed in all the characters of Mickey and Friends, Little Einstein and the Imagination Movers. Thanks for all the fun, Colby! Colby loves to use my camera as much as I do. He took the picture of the TV screen. Not too bad for a 4 year old. There is a picture of Joe and Kori's 2 sons and one that is better of the newest little Crowther! It's Friday now, I got home and there was a message from Jeffery that he sent more packages home. I think that means he has left Cuba by now. He should be Stateside by Saturday. After sitting at the Computer trying to catch up on my e-mails and Blog reading, I need to go back to the 'real' world. This Grandma has had all the 'playtime' she can have for a while. At least until the next grandchild arrives in May... Tomorrow is a busy day, Paul has a funeral to conduct in the Ward for an elderly lady who passed away while I was gone. I still have more projects than time so... quilting will resume on Monday.

Happy Day

This morning Grandpa Paul and Jackson were playing with the ball on the stairs. It's been fun to have Jackson come visit this week-end with his mom. We rode with Janessa and Jackson to Tri-cities to visit with her 3 siblings families that live there. First we went to Kennewick. I found the crocheted dress that my grandmother made when my youngest daughter was a baby. I made a new slip for it and Christen put it on Lydia so I could take her picture. Next we went to Pasco to have Grandpa meet the newest grandson. It took a while but we finally got him to open his eyes a little bit. Then it was time to go to Richland for the birthday party. The quilt was the surprise for Elizabeth. I didn't take a "Completed" picture before I put it in the gift bag. OPPS! She took the quilt out and looked in the bag for something more... Funny girl. Vincent's quilt is still in the works, so he got a new Sunday outfit. This is the "Birthday" boy on his Christmas train. See him eye the burning flame? He tried to put it out with his hand...OUCH! I think Mommy blew it out for him. And the last photo is Elizabeth blowing out her candles on her "Pet Shop" cake. It was ice cream. A bunch of her Boy cousins are lined up behind her, and her sister, Olivia beside her.
