Design Wall Monday- March 28, 2016

I had some technical difficulties this morning.
Sorry about that!

I have not gotten my time in the Quilt Zone as planned.
This is all I have going on right now.
Leader/Ender scrappy 9-patches from my 2.5" squares bin.
Ever since I went to the Hearts and flowers Sew-in
I've been making them.

I tried to figure out May's Block for the guild.
The measurements on EQ aren't very user friendly.
I made these "too small" pinwheels on Saturday.
Good thing I don't have to get the block done for April

I need to get my machine set to do the stitching on the Daisy Chain Blocks.
It just hasn't happened yet.
I took a slight diversion Saturday night and went to the movies with DD#2
It was a fun one. Thanks for going with me, JLG!
Go see My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 if you get a chance.
I finished reading "The Forgiving Quilt" in the wee hours last night.
I recommend it highly.
Looks like there was a glitch in Judy's Link-up this am too.

OMG - Linking Up time

I nearly forgot what I put on my list for OMG.
It's time to Link-Up HERE
I've been so Busy getting my Class samples done.
oh, and just being a Grandma.
It really is the best job I've ever had!

I knew I had a Very BUSY March.
I said that when I posted my OMG HERE
Quilting is what I do for FUN!
No stress.  Get some Borders on this baby so it can get quilted -- later.
Remember this Fabric?

It's been proposed to be the border for a few of my WIP quilts.
Then I found something else I liked better.
I even included it in my BOM with Pat Sloan.  Dare I use it up for a Border?
Maybe just a small one...
Nope, This Green fabric jumped off the table and wanted to be used.
I hurried and cut 9 strips of 4" and sewed them on, pinning just like I try to encourage my Students.

TaDA- it's a flimsy ready for Quilting 92 x 92"

Posting 2 times today since I  have a Link-up to do.
This quilt started in 2013 when I took over the Block Lotto at our Quilt Guild.
Each block was selected from the Quilter's Cache A-Z
It is set with Pennsylvania Blocks I WON in the Lotto.
 Starting at the top L-R:
Amish Star, Baby Bud, Card Basket, Depression Block, Eight Pointed Star
Row 2- Fair Play, Grandmother's Cross, Housewife,Indian Mats, Joseph's Delight
Row 3-Kansas Dugout, Land of Liberty, My Favorite Quilt, Nine Patch Straight Furrows,
Old Maid's Puzzle
Row 4 Quartrefoils, Ruins of Jericho, Spinning 4 patch, Tennessee, Union Square
Row 5- Variable Star, Wild Duck, X Marks the Spot, Yankee Charm, Z Cross

Each month there was a common fabric purchased at the LQS in town.
I used a variety of fabrics from my Stash.

I Need a Little Spring - Daisy Chain

I had a fun day playing with Fusible to make the blocks for my last Class Sample.
I had no idea how many sheets of Steam a Seam II it would take.
It's good to know so I can pass that info along.
DH came home and I was just cutting out all the Fusible shapes.
4 hours later he woke up from a nap and I am laying the blocks, unstitched, on the floor.
Blue flower in the Center or Lavendar???

Now I can't decide which way I like better.

Did you notice I changed my mind on which fabrics to use?
These fabrics spoke to me when I went into the quilt Zone.
It was fun to play with this pattern.
My favorite part is the story that goes with her quilt.
Melissa Blogged her re-make HERE.
It's in her book  "Irish Chain Quilts".  You can Purchase it by clicking to her Blog.

This is my WIP for the last day of #IGQUILTFEST.
How long will it take for me to do all the stitching down on these Blocks.
I wonder???
Should I do a Blanket stitch by Hand or machine??
Watch and see what I decide.

Wednesday- WOW

I've had a helper her all week so I haven't been doing much stitching.
I have made my Traditional Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Easter eggs though.
He loves to help in the Kitchen.
Licking the Beater and shaking the extra squares of Marshmallow in Powdered Sugar.
The pictures came off my camera- kind of blurry making them bigger.
Tuesday was the day to mail some to his Cousins.
He likes riding in Grandma's New Car.

This year the Blogger's Quilt Festival has moved to Instagram.
I missed the First day - Each day has a Theme

Monday - Finally Finished

We finally got a time arranged to get it to her.
I'm relieved to have it where it belongs.

Hope your Wednesday is full of Stitching.

Design Wall Monday- March 21, 2016

This Quilt is off to hang in Walla Walla Sew n Vac this week.
It's my Class Sample for June.

It's all done!!! YEA
I finished the binding on a road trip Saturday night.

I love the quilting on it.

It's The first  full day of SPRING and what better project to get out than a Floral one.
My Last Class Sample to be finished is Daisy Chain for May.
It's found in this book by Melissa of Happy Quilting Blog
My Book!!!
Click the Daisy Chain link to get to her Blog to buy the Book.

I need to choose fabrics for it.
Here are two choices from my STASH.

I remembered the 2 pound grab bags from TRENDS that I hadn't looked at yet.
Any of these would make a pretty Daisy Chain Quilt.

Graceful Moments by Maywood &  In Stitches by Robin Kingley
There are a couple Beautiful Basics in there, too.
Yes, I'm a Name dropper, I save the selvages.

These 2 BATIKS were in there too- YUCKY
I don't mix them in with my cotton fabrics!

More goodies from Trends, some stuff that came with my $100 credit.
This is from another of the Take n Teach classes.
Quilting Treasures did this DEMO.
It was fun even though she used Batiks...
I wanted to wait until I got the supplies from part of my Credit.
Now I can make one from my more favorite fabrics.

I saw this book  at Trends, I decided to order with my Credit.

I also ordered Thread and Marti Michell stuff.  Some items were back ordered.

I got a big Tote Bag to use for my RETREATS this year.

This spool of Aurifil came in the mail from Pam Buda
I had forgotten about entering a drawing for Aurifil on her Blog.

It's always nice to get a surprise in the mail.

Finally Friday- almost SPRING

You could say I've been a little distracted this week.
The SUN finally came out!
After all the rain, I just wanted to go out and see the grass grow.
DH, Paul's Sprinklers are all working now and he is very pleased with himself.
The trenches will fill in with the sprinkle of seed he put out.

I don't really have time to Play outside and the grandsons didn't come to tempt me this week.
So, Why am I distracted?
Well, I am putting away the stuff I brought home from the Weekend at Trends.
I find stuff I forgot to share and then you know... I had to PLAY with it!
My Kit from the Take n Teach class with Abbey Lane Quilts
Playing with the layout
Directions are different for this one.  Not quite like "Buggy Barn"
How random do I want it to be?
Hmmmm, this one will have to marinate a little.

As if I don't have enough to distract me-
I saw that Ann Hazelwood has a new series out and I picked one up at Trends.
No, I haven't cracked it open ---yet!
I'm still reading my Jennifer Chiaverini book "Christmas Bells"
Read about it HERE.
I know it's closer to EASTER, I can't put it down, the historical fiction gets me.

I haven't forgotten about my quilting of the "Honor Star" on "Betsy".
I found more of the Block patterns in my Buttercup Feather file.
I hadn't uploaded all of them to the Quilt-sew-Clever.
I like that I can scale it to fit the space, even if it isn't square.
Two more corners to quilt and the bottom border.
The side borders will be done after I turn the quilt.
It's more work but worth it to me.
Gotta get it done before the class in June.
Fabrics are "Thyme with Friends" by Kris Lammers for Maywood.
with a little of my "Fresh Lilacs" from Debbie Beaves

It's almost here...
I'll be making Hearts and Flowers Blocks with my Guild friends.
No better way to spend the day.

Thanks for reading to the end.
I have more to share from Trends so keep watching the BLOG and commenting.
I Blog for Comments, LOL

WOW- What I'm working on- Wednesday

Since I don't have any where to go today, I can work on my Quilting of this quilt.

It's been waiting for me to decide what to quilt in the center feathered Star.
I found a nice Border, got one pass made, then Life happened.
Buttercup Feather border
Places to be, paperwork & taxes to get done, etc, etc!
Thanks to my CPA son!!!
I had a Bernina class Tuesday at Janean's to learn about all the buttons on my new Artista machine.

Just for fun I saved some of the Rob Appell Quilts to show later.
His 'endangered series' were really fun to see in person.

You have to stand back or take a picture and look at it to SEE the Tiger & Wolf.

His 60 Degree Ruler quilt is made with just one striped fabric!
HERE is the YouTube link for you, just in case you have the perfect stripe to make one.
I love the Quilting from the back!

Hope your Wednesday is filled with doing what YOU love!

Design Wall Monday- March 14, 2016 - Trends

Paul, my DH, was my ever patient chauffeur for the weekend.
We went to the Portland Temple on our way to the Hotel.
It's been a while since we were there.
Rain and Hail beating down after we got changed to enter.
No Pictures.

I couldn't go to TRENDS without taking my Machine for some Hotel Stitching.
I cut these blocks out the first night and stitched them up the second.
I have another one done but ran out of one of the fabric and had to piece.
I'll exchange those parts and get it fixed this week.
I have made 39 Blocks for the 1930's Farmer's Wife so far.

We stayed at the Hotel that had a shuttle to Trends.
It was very different going by myself.
There were plenty of Trends friends to visit with.
Some I'd met before and others were new to me.

The Special Guest Speaker this year was Rob Appell of Man Sewing
I got there early for my Picture with him.
Thanks to Kelly for taking it.
Rob does YouTube Videos HERE

Kelly is the mastermind behind the great Photo Booth and other Decorations.
He was dressed for his Day at the Beach.

Robin Long of Robin Ruth Designs
I first met her at last years' Krazy Horse Quilt Show in Pendleton, Oregon.
I bought the rulers then but haven't really used them.
Her Take 'n Teach class was fun.
She has a few new quilt patterns using the rulers.
You just need to choose Skinny or FAT.
NO PAPER PIECING necessary, my kind of technique.

I took the Fab 5 Ruler Take 'n Teach class at Abbey Lane Quilts.
Marcea, caught checking her phone when I snap this picture.
We just cut out our Pillow parts and pined them into sets.
I'll need to stitch it up at home, no machines here.

I didn't take pictures of the other Take 'n Teach class I had on Saturday.

I had to take a picture with Elizabeth.
She always dresses up for the THEME.  My inspiration to dress up too.I wen

I told Mr Kona Bay that I used his Fabric for my Border.
He took this picture for me with my "Let's Go to the Beach" Quilt.

The winning Judges results were announced on Saturday afternoon before I had to leave.
I was back with the vendors when my name was called.
Chris got the Ribbons up in record time so I could get a picture with the ribbon.
Thanks to the fun quilting of Alder Avenue Quilting and a quilt that was perfect for the THEME---
I have a $100 credit at the warehouse.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me-
There were 2 of these "Fire Island Hosta" Quilts.
They tied and both WON a $100 credit.

"Floats & Reeds"
Won the other $100 Credit & ribbon.

I took pictures of a few other quilts.
There were 16 entries.

The ladies looking up also stayed at the hotel and rode the shuttle with me.
Their shop  Quilts & Beyond is in Prairie City Oregon.

Since I wasn't there on Sunday, I don't know which quilt WON the Peoples Choice.
Next Trends is the Diamond Jubilee
 60th Trends with Mary Fons!
