Grand Illusion Mystery Linky Party- January 31, 2015

My Quiltville Mystery has two smaller quilts put together instead of only 1.  

 I need more Quilts in the cupboard that fit a Twin bed.
These are still waiting for me to sew the blocks together.

I've had suggestions from my Blogging buddies to add some Black cornerstones and some Green.

We shall see, this one will hang out for a little while more.

My single Black block in this option, got a big ol' thumbs down, so it will get Un-sewn.

I finally got a copy of the Video "Somewhere in Time" so I can watch it now.

Bonnie chose her colors from the Grand Hotel - The Movie is set at the Grand Hotel.

New Patterns Coming- Excited to Teach Again!!!

Did you miss my Wednesday Posting?

I was busy getting NEWquilt patterns designed.

Wednesday evening was the appointed time for our Teacher's Meeting at Walla Walla Sew n Vac.

I showed up last week by mistake, with Sample Projects in hand.

 I was so excited to learn more about my duties teaching at the Local Quilt Store.

That extra week gave me time to work on EQ7 and Publisher to get the Patterns ready to TEST.

My first class will be a KID's Class taught during Spring Break in April.

The colors for it will be Primary colors like Red, Blue Green and White. 

We are thinking of making a Kit using the Accuquilt Go Cutter.

That means I need to include the Go Friendly instructions and I finally get to use the

 LOGO I was sent by Accuquilt.

It's been almost 8 years since I taught the Block of the Month Classes at Hancock's.

I've REALLY Missed that!

Thursday was a "TEST the Cutting instructions" for the class I want to teach in May.

I got most of the Cutting done and some of the parts sewn "TESTING" the Block assembly. 

I ran out of the background so I had to go get more with my Discount.

Here is the quilt cut out in a Tote so I can keep it all together.

Now the pattern is being Tweaked to be more scrappy. 

I want to use the Real Quilt on the Pattern rather than just an EQ7 picture.

I got a lot of positive feedback on my Red & White Quilt so it will be a class for sure. 

 Look for "Rubies & Diamonds" to be taught in June.

It might be at EE SCHENCK's TRENDS in March as well.

June - the Month for Brides!  The Birthstone is Diamond.
February is too soon to get a class together.

 It was so fun to see it come from the EQ7 design to actual quilt.
Lots of fun white space to add fun stitching to the quilt with verigated thread.

Design Wall Monday- January 26, 2015

I have been sewing all morning and finally got Week 4 finished and a couple of Week 3 blocks made for the English Manor Mystery over HERE.

Week 4 was easier.

Just 16 pairs of Flying Geese.

These take a while to Cut, Sew, Press & Trim.

It takes a bit longer to make sure the direction of the blocks is correct.

Week 3- Team Cora

I need to make a total of 8 of these blocks.

I am still having fun stitching this Mystery. 

The Grand Illusion is on hold for a bit.

Friday Creative Goodness Link-up & What's on my Needles

I had to take a break from knitting to make my BOW's for the SBS and LUS Yahoo groups.

I guess I need to look ahrder at my list before cutting the Blue and White blocks.  NOw I have 2 Broken Windows blocks.  I made this one changing the dark and lights so I might put it in the quilt instead of the 1st one I made back in July 2014  HERE.

I put the NEW Broken Window Block in this EQ7 layout

(you can compare the old block that is in the Layout on the sidebar)

I might start sewing sashings on so this is ready to put rows together as I finish all the blocks.

Just a few more to make in those first 3 rows...

On the agenda today is my 8 Blocks for the English Manor Mystery with Lovebug Studios.

After I go to the Chiropractor...I think I have TECH NECK.

I want to show the progress on my Knitting here too.

I've gotten to another stopping place, 

I'm on my 4th section.

We get to choose the order of the designs in our scarves.

I need to consult the teacher on a missing decrease in this row.

My stitches are 3 too many at the end of the row so I know it has to be wrong.

I've UN-Knitted it two times and it still doesn't come out to the correct # of Stitches.

I should have gottten her revised copy with the ERATTA fixed on it.

To Knit or To Stitch...?

I took out the practice knitting I was working on for Lacey Lacers and started on the project.

This will be a Sampler of stitches from Estonia.  

The pattern is from our President last year.  

I have until August to get it done, but it is addictive.

Thanks to Marilee for showing a better way to do the knitted casting on.

I found my pattern magnet board, hope it will help me keep my place in the pattern.

There was one of our group who FINISHED her scarf in the past 2 weeks
since we had our 1st lesson on making the "Nupps".

I had great plans to Stitch all week but haven't made it downstairs to do any of my English Manor Mystery quilt yet this week.

My 30's SBS  and LUS are calling to me too. 

I have easier blocks to make for my Block of the week.

Design Wall Monday- January 19, 2015

The weather outside was rainy and cold on Saturday, no where special to be.
 I spent the day in the Basement.
I made two more 30's blocks for my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.

Total now is 53

My 2014 Quiltville Mystery has been sitting around waiting and waiting

 for me to make a final decision for what to do with it.

Saturday was the day to GET IT Figured out.

I got the reamaining 13 blocks together in the way the pattern was designed by Bonnie Hunter.

I decided after all the quandry that I wanted to at least do 1/2 of the original quilt.

Here it Quilt #1 laid out, with and without the borders-

ready to finish sewing it all together.

It's growing on me- 

I like it much better now that I can see it together with the borders laid out.

I hope to get it done by the time Bonnie does another Monday Link-up.

With 9 of the rest of the blocks I can do this...

Which one is better?  

With or without the black center block.

 I think it needs another border,

 I can use the extra parts of the original border.

OR... add some Pink, Black or Purple to it.

Happy Birthday Brant!

My son, our 4th child was born on this date 31 years ago.

His arrival was precarious and he spent 9 days in the NICU unit on IV's.  

 It was a scary time. 

I'm so grateful his father and grandfather could give him his name and a special 

Priesthood blessing to preserve his life.

Paul brought the children to see thier new baby brother in the hospital.

The florist gave the little ones each a rose.

What a beautiful sight to see my children bearing roses for us.

 9 Days-& $10,000 later-
 Brant got to come home.

The second picture is of the day he was Baptized and got his 1st set of scriptures.

Brant is the only one who got a finished T-shirt quilt made by me.

Elder Brant served his 2 year Mission in Central Mexico

 He left from Burbank Ward and came back to Walla Walla because we moved while he was gone.

He brought home toys for his Neice and Nephews

I could post many more photos but this one tells such a fun story

Even on his wedding day Brant and Tina were including the Grandkids.

I made the Vests and Jumpers for the grandchildren to wear.

Is it any wonder the grandchildren LOVE him to come home for a visit?

I have to stop and be Thankful for the good man he has become.

I love that he calls home nearly every Sunday to talk to the "old folks".

Friday- LUS Block of the Week

I got my Blue and White Loyal Union Sampler Block done just in time to post to my Yahoo group.

This weeks block was a tricky one.

Happy Birthday to ME!

The day started out great with lots of Facebook wishes and phone calls.

DD#2 made this collage and posted it on FB.

The best part of having our DD #2 home in Walla Walla is we got to go to Lunch

at our favorite place, the Cookie Tree and then to Frosted for a Yummy Cupcake too.

She keeps checking her phone to see if my present has arrived yet. 

I wonder what it could be??

I think it took the slow boat from California.

The Fat Quarter Shop started their "Snapshots" QAL today and guess what block was first???

Today was the perfect day to make myself a "Purple Cake" Block!

I think it is meant to be,  Just look at the other blocks on this QAL.

On the rest of the days agenda is Dinner out with DH and a Grandson's Pinewood Derby.

While it isn't on the top of my list, I'll enjoy watching the Race and get some more Grandchild hugs!

I share the day with a Neice and a few ladies at Church.

We swapped cards and Chocolate on Sunday.

Quilt Guild Block of the Month & 2 BOW pictures

It's a New Year at Quilt Guild and we are making the final Alphabet Blocks for our Block Lotto.

I heard some of the members after the meeting say that they really wanted to WIN this time.

I thought quickly and said, "I'm thinking of a Number between 1- 25"

Sherry M , our New Vice President picked the correct Number- 15

The number I won the blocks with and the DATE of my Birthday this week.

I could have kept them, but I already have a Red & White Quilt or 2 in my collection.

One of the previous Block of the Month quilts showed up during our Show & Share.

The story goes that Maggie (in pic) told Pat C that she liked the blocks she just won last August
- so Pat gave them to her.  This quilt will go to our Baby Quilt Charity.

I love seeing the quilt made from the winning Blocks.

We have a Quilts of Valor Sew-IN Day coming up in February.

All over there will be quilters making quilts on February 7th.

Shown are a few of the blocks we will be making that day.

Ideas presented to the group tonight were a "Round or Block Robin" and a "Scrap it Forward"
The Scrap it Forward has my attention.  You'll be hearing more about it later.

I had fun using my Set 'E' Marti Michell templates to make this block. 

I pressed the heck out of it and scorched the corner, hope it washes out.

I see I should have used 3 fabrics, oh well...

My #50 of the 140 I need to make. 

90 left to go.

The Downton Abbey quilt blocks are done and I'm ready for next week.

I chose to meet both the Lord and Lady Grantham.

Design Wall Monday --January 12, 2015

It's been quite a while since I made a block for my 30's SBS (Sylvia's Bridal Sampler).

I saw on my SBS-BOW Yahoo group directions to make F-9 with Marti Michell templates.

I wondered if I had the set that was needed. 

Lucky for me, I did,

I found the templates needed and made 4-patches with the smaller E-36 one 

and trimmed one with E-33 the larger one.
I need to have 8 of them to make one 6.5" block. 

I will see if this is correct and add a Neutral background with the other two templates shown.
I know there are "Y" Seams, but I'm really not afraid of them anymore.

LOL, when all else fails- check the original pattern in the book...

I have 49 blocks made- this one would make it 50 of the 140 I need.

Saturday was Catching-up Day for the Block of the month with Jacqueline Steves.

I printed off the patterns and had planned to make the blocks.
Now where did I put those instructions for Block 1???

I got distracted by my Start-itus again and made a Test project for The Intrepid Thread instead.

She has designed the pattern for a Local Shop Hop.

I'll be sewing Tuesday instead of today with Lynn and Mary Ellen out at Thread and Bolts, I hope.
Maybe I can get my Bonnie Hunter "Grand Illusion Mystery Flimsy together then.
I don't think there will be a Linky on Quiltville this week.

Or I can work on my Downton Abbey Mystery blocks for the week.
I get the new Blocks on Sunday but do NOT sew them until later in the week.
