This is how the Temple looked when Paul came and woke me up that morning.
My mother brought him in to wake me up and show me the view.
There was a big picture window up a Spiral staircase at the house where we all stayed.
I was surprised to see the Temple that morning with the snow falling

We drove home in a Blizzard...all the way.
We slept in our own Double bed that night.
2 Days later it was our Reception in Moses Lake at the Rose Street Chapel

I wore the same dress as my older sister wore in 1970.
Mom bought me the Pearl crown at the local Craft store and I sewed my veil.
(I lined the sleeves and bodice and made a few other alterations to fit it to me.)
Paul bought a Tan Suit instead of renting a TUX.
My colors were Peach, Light Green, Forrest Green
The Dresses in the line, except mine,were Homemade
(Can you say Double Knit???)
My Dad bought the Light Green Leisure Suit to match my colors.

I have posted a few of these Pictures before but Thought I need to write down more of the story.
Every year I get to be Thankful for being Married in Cardston on that wintry day. The day before the sun was shining and the grass was green. My Mother had to go and return the picture she'd bought for us. We used the Picture of the Temple in the Snow to display at the Reception. I remember that the Maid of Honor, Matron of honor Bridesmaid, Mom and Grandma of the Bride and Mother of the Groom Dresses were mostly made from the same pattern, just different fabrics. I have one of the Dark Green dresses still, I wish I still had Daddy's Suit!
LeAnn, my Ricks college Family Home Evening Sister and next door roommate, came all the way from Idaho with her Fiance' Blake Arvidson to be my Maid of Honor at the Reception. I remember that they gave us a Sympathy card. Some one else gave us the games of "Sorry" and "Aggrevation". It's all written down somewhere...
We only had ONE reception, there were 2 others happening in Basin City that same evening. I was grateful for all who came to Moses Lake and to the ones in Basin City. My mother was disappointed that more from Moses Lake didn't bother to come. One of my Childhood friends had her reception the night before (she got married on the 12th). We hurried home so we could attend hers, but she didn't come to ours. She was going to be at the guestbook, so I had to enlist the help of another Ricks College friend, Diane Reynolds, who did show up.
We had a Styrofoam and Cardboard cake that my Mother decorated way before the wedding. The cake top was a Plaster Cardston Temple and the Cake's Top layer was Banana Cake and we served Banana "petifores"- [Banana cake made in mini muffin tins, frozen, then frosted all over and rolled in Green and Peach colored Coconut] Nuts, Homemade Mints with Orange or Lime sherbet & 7-up frappe' for the PUNCH. Perhaps, I should make some "petifores" to serve at Thanksgiving...just for fun.
Oh and there was a
"PROGRAM"!
My Brother, Derlyn was the MC...Pauls' Aunt Valeea and his sister, Mary did a Viola and piano duet of "Brian's Song", Joelyn Clark , SIL's Sister and my friend, sang "True Love", My Ex- Boyfriend, Brett Jensen played his guitar and Diane Reynolds sang a John Denver song " For Billy, for Bobby" and "The Wedding Song". CRAZY, I know, but that was how I planned it with help from all of them.
This is where we Celebrated this year... Dinner and a Night at the Cameo Heights Mansion!

We had the Mansion pretty much all to ourselves.
Wonderful Dinner of Chicken Breasts, Cranberry dressing, squash and Brussels Sprouts
I have NEVER eaten Brussels Sprouts before. These were OK.
I couldn't finish my portion so I had to wait to indulge in the dessert.
The Place is called "TheVINE"
I call it DE-Vine after eating there!
Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding with caramel sauce, served HOT! YUMM-O
In the morning a tray was left outside the door with Homemade Danish and juice
(We chose the beverage)
We tried to do all the fun stuff they have at the Mansion, but didn't have time or the right kind of Weather for all that is available. We did brave the chilly weather to go in the Hot Tub!
Paul even went at 5:30 AM when he woke up
Words can't express how much we enjoyed our evening together there.

It's beginning to look like Christmas in the Mansion.
Alan and the crew are busy hanging Lights in preparation for their Open House Next Monday.
Their Tree in the Living Room always has beautiful ornaments of Musical Instruments, birds, elegant Ornaments and bows. I even saw a few "Christmas Around the World" ornaments and the
Columbia River Temple Brass Ornament in the branches.
Notice the Tree topper is the Angel Moroni.
The Fieldings made us feel so Welcomed and we are Grateful for their Kindnesses.
A couple of our grown children have been there and it was Highly recommended to us.
