Final Friday of January- Goal report

January Goals for the New Year
1- Allietare' to a Flimsy- almost
2- Class Samples for Sew n Vac- two done, 1 to finish
3- Guild Lotto Block or Blocks- DONE
4- Pat Sloan BOM 1st Block - DONE
5- 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks - weekly -DONE, with exception of PP blocks.

I have done most of what I'd planned for January.
Celebrated more than I thought possible.
I am truly blessed!
I'm sad to see my Birthday Month end.
The only thing I didn't get was my "Treadle" and "Betsy" up and running.
Here's to a New Month of Goals and Birthdays.

I asked my sister-by-Love to get this book for Paul's Birthday.
It's written by a Basin City friend of his.
She delivered it to HIM on New Year's Day.
Opps, no surprise for his birthday, the day after Valentine's Day now.
He has read it and now I've finished it.
My sides hurt from laughing.
I laughed and cried reading it, what a roller coaster.

For my February goals, I'm repeating some of the January goals.
1- Finish WWSNV Class samples to flimsy stage.
2- Make Guild Blocks for Lotto
3- Keep up with Blocks of the Week and Month.
4- Self-Publish the Patterns for Kids Class and Butterflies & Lilacs quilt.

I'll choose my OMG (One Monthly Goal on Monday).

Wonderful Wednesday Sharing -OMG

My Allietare' is getting closer to a Flimsy.
It was my January Goal for OMG -One Monthly Goal
It's a hit at my house.
DH, Paul likes it alot.
Way out of my comfort zone as far as the color way.
I plan to add a grey inner border and a black final border with red or yellow 4-patch corner blocks.

My grandson helped me cut between the rows of blocks.
It's hard to web a Diagonally set quilt.
I hope to have the total flimsy by Monday February 1st/

My BIG TA -DA for today is my
2015 Vacation Time Block of the Month!!!

I took it to Tri-cities to my friend, Debbi T from Alder Avenue Quilting for the Quilting.
I just couldn't wait for "Betsy" to be in working order.
The Theme for the Spring "Trends" trade show in Portland at EE Schenck's is
"A Day at the Beach"
This quilt had to be entered there.

Debbi quilted it on her 'Innova'
There are beach balls all over it with suns, shells, starfish and lines to look like a beach ball.
The thread was a pretty verigated aqua color
a White Cotton Batting and Navy Shadow Play backing.
SO... I'm calling it "Let's Go to the Beach!"

Below are some close-ups of the quilting- just for my Blogging friends

Her charges are very affordable!
She fit my quilt into her busy schedule to make sure it was done in time for me to get the
binding, label and hanging sleeve sewn on.
My favorite part!

2016 Design Wall Monday January 25, 2016

I have my Allietare' still on the main Design Wall.
Had to take a break to make up the Class sample for the Kid's Class. Shown HERE
I have made more Blocks this month than I thought.
On Friday I got to play with my Butterfly pattern some more.
Jacob loves to use my Purple Gypsy Cutter to help grandma.
I made these 4 Butterflies.

It was fun to Cut them out with  my Marti Michell Templates.
He said they didn't look like butterflies.  They need their antennae.
Smart kid!
I cut some of my Violets fabric stash to see how I could use it with the Butterflies.
Keep watching to see what these will be.

It's a BUSY Birthday Week for this Grandma with birthdays today Thursday and Sunday!
What ever will I do for the Birthdays this year??  Gotta put on my thinking cap!

I made a Wild Guess on a Friend's Facebook post asking how many HST's she had in a little basket.
I don't know why I chose that number, but I was within 3 so she says I win a prize.
No clue what it will be...
Judy D posted about it HERE

Fun Friday- Scrap It Forward

I took my bag of scraps from my Vacation Time Quilt to the "Scrap It Forward" today.
There weren't many people there when I went down with my Grandson.
I forgot that I needed to go somewhere today....LOL

This is the bundle I got to bring Home from Eddie.
A bunch of GREENS!
"St Patrick's Day is coming", Eddie said.
I see a fun monochromatic quilt coming-  between the stitching.

I have samples to make for my Classes.
I got the center of the Kid's Class top together.
I took it up to show my 2 Granddaughters who want to take my class.
Since they got a sneak peek, I  should show it on the Blog, right?

I was inspired by the chains my sister used to make with the wrappers off her gum back it the 1970's.
Do you remember making chains?
I did it in RWB just for fun.
Scrappy would be even more FUN.
I'll include a Line Drawing, in the pattern, for them to color in if they want.
Pattern is in the works.

I got the 1st border on but needed to buy more of the Blue fabric to finish the 'Flimsy'.

I see feather quilting on the diagonal in those Blue stripes.
The sample might have to wait to be quilted.
Class is April 6-8, 2016 at Walla Walla Sew n Vac .
The class list isn't up just yet, you can pick up the paper copy at the store.
What do you think???

WOW- What I'm Working on Wednesday

I've been having fun cutting strips for my Kids Class Sample.
I just got this Bolt of fabric with the alphabet on it.
Won't it make a great Neutral?
(sorry about the flash in the picture)

I keep tossing different thoughts around about sewing instructions on the pattern.
What do you think about Strip Piecing verses cutting each square and matching them up.
Just a different way to write it up.
Comment and tell me which way you would rather do it.

I have an interesting Link to share today.
This one is on Pattern Writing  HERE.

Thanks Brandi for the Tip and Link share.

I need a Handwork project for when I have a road trip so the BLOOM Quilt SAL
The link to join the Fun is HERE
I ordered the Templates and some Fat 8ths yardage to use with my other Lori Holt stash

I have to do something while I'm waiting for "Betsy" to get fixed.

I made the Grandmother Block for my 1930's Farmer's Wife.
Marti 's Templates helped make this one easy peasy.
Angie @ Gnome Angel said this week we will have all the Blocks released by September this year.

2016 Design Wall Monday- January 18, 2016

I am trying to keep up this year.
We had three Blocks this past week and I hadn't made the Lily yet.
I had to to make the Lillian version that Marti Michell showed on her site.

It's fun to Read the stories and find fabrics to go with the Blocks.
Fussy Cutting takes a bit longer.
So does the Directional background fabrics.

Late Saturday night stitching to finish all the Allietare" Star Blocks.
I even had time to Press them and lay them all out top see how many more I should make.
We'll have to see if I do make the 3-4 that I need for Bonnie's layout.
Sure wish I could Count...getting Older is the Pits...sometimes

I went to lunch with my Birthday buddies from Walla Walla 3rd Ward!
We usually just swap Chocolate on the Sunday Before.
Paul brought me home the Chocolate from Linda last Sunday.
We hadn't made the plan to go out to Arby's, yet.
That Andes Mint Chocolate Milkshake was delicious!!!

Paul took me out for Panda Express the night before my Birthday.
Good Fortunes this year.
I woke up to Roses and Snickers. The Flowers from J & K came later in the day. A cute girl saying "Happy" on Facebook, so sweet.
Red Roses Gerbera Daisies and Purple Carnations.
Carnation is the Flower for January.

EARLY on my Birthday I got to have Breakfast with the Goodson's and Paul.

On the special at "Maple Counter"was 'Elvis' Pancakes.
Peanut Butter syrup---oh so sweet!
I liked them better with the Maple, so I could taste the Banana in the pancake.
They brought out an Ice cream with cherry sauce that the little boys helped eat for my Birthday.

Janessa even called into the radio station for me.  We had to listen on her Iphone.
No cake or Candles to blow out this year.
I heard from almost all of my children early in the day.
Some just on Facebook.
One of the best parts was talking to some of my Grandchildren on their way to school with Uncle Joe.
And the Singing of "Happy Birthday" to Grandma from Wyoming.

Thanks to friends who Remember...
Goodies from Janet O,  above and Marilee, below.
I'm very Spoiled, needless to say!
Paul says I can get a Treadle machine.
IF there was one around to BUY, I have the $$$.
I looked around in the Thrift stores and Machine service shops.
None left that I could buy, there was some machines but no irons to make them Treadles.
All I really wanted is for my "Betsy" to work again or get a different Quilting set up.

Two more weeks to work on getting my Allietare' to a TOP.
I am looking for some Italy fabric for the final Border or Backing.
Oh, and some chain-stitching happened on a Kids Quilt for my Spring Break Class. (No pictures yet)

Quilt Guild Block Lotto- NEW Year - New Quilts

Our New Guild President asked for a new Block Lotto so I came home and designed this one in EQ7.
(Along with 6 other designs for a quilt for the first few months)
I will choose the blocks 'random' through the year..

The Red "American Made" fabric will be a constant in each block.
I pre-washed this whole Bolt and Ironed it to put it back on the bolt.
I cut the strips for the guild members during the Break.
That meant I didn't get to have any of the goodies.
This might be GOOD for my waistline.

The January Block assigned is called
"Odds & Ends"
a PDF file is found HERE

I had fun making this block and deciding where to put the colors.

If we get back all the blocks from those who took fabrics strips we could make something
like this for one of our Charities.

Tuesday was BUSY, since I also had to make some Treats to take to Guild.
Do these cookies look like quilt blocks?
Hst's, 4-Patch, Flying Geese?

There were only 2 Blocks returned from last month.
December, things get put aside, I know.
These did NOT come home with me. I let the newbie that made the bottom one take them.
Mine is on top.  Was it the Pattern or the fabric??

I didn't bring any of the Cookies home, I guess they were a hit!

I put some extra parts and pieces leftover from my 2015 Vacation Time Quilt
The Guild is doing a "Scrap it Forward" Swap at the LQS later this month.  I need to be ready.
January 23 & 24 at the SEW n VAC we get to trade.
There's not much left of my Fruit Bottom Ladies.

So... does making new Quilts on EQ7 count as a New Start??

Design Wall Monday- 1-11-16

The last of my "Echoes of Pisa" blocks are finished.
Allitare' Star Blocks are still being stitched.
I have to make sure all those pesky 4-patches are going the correct way so I don't have to do the "Froggin".
I'm pacing myself to keep this project going through January, lol

I did some sneak peek cutting for my Kids Camp and Quilt guild this week.

Kid's Camp will be held during Spring Break again this year. I have designed a New Quilt for it.

I will reveal the block for Quilt Guild on Wednesday.
Come back and see. It was fun for me to design this year's Block Lotto in EQ7.
The red "American Made" fabric will be in all the blocks this year.

I know this post is late today, I had 7 ladies join me for lunch and our Monthly Daughters of Utah Pioneers Meeting. I like to host during my Birthday week.

One Monthly Goal- link-up

I already made a list of goals.
That was before I saw the a Red Letter Quilts had a Link-up for OMG.
OMG stands for "One Monthly Goal"

If I choose just ONE of the goals I had on my list that would be a much KINDER goal for me.
So...my Choice is getting my Allietare' to Flimsy #1 goal on my list.

This is how it looks so far with about half of the blocks on my Wall.
I re-sewed the Setting Side Triangles.

These have been re-sorted and are ready to finish the stitching.

I need to cut and make more of the be-headed geese or Santa hats to make a few more of the Alternate Blocks.
The main goal for this is for it NOT to go in a Tote and become a UFO!

Remember that for fun I made part one of the Mystery? But I never did any more parts.
I could just make the Santa hats and just do the Alternate blocks for a fun Sewing stuff themed quilt.

I know I'm crazy!
I will still work on those BOW's and BOM's and try to keep up.
Choosing ONE Monthly "BIG" Goal will help keep me busy the rest of the month.

Class samples and Guild Blocks are being worked on, can't show just yet.
Watch for next Wednesday's Posting to see the Block I chose for February's Lotto.
