Design Wall Monday - June 27, 2016

Today is our eldest Grandson's 16th Birthday!

Here he is taller than his mother and I.

What a way to celebrate the new Decade - to have a Grandson born that year.

This is what I have to show on my Design Wall today

Grand-daughters Gum Paper Chain is on "Betsy"

The Granddaughters have named their quilts.  

They were very Creative and that helped me decide what to quilt on them.

I still have hope to get this one quilted before the end of the month.

My Row by Row is calling me...

Tri-Cities Quilters Scoop

I attended the Nightly Meeting this month for the Tri-City Quilters guild

 Grandma time conflicted with my scheduled trip to Tri-Cities.

It was my last day to Drive my Pretty Rental Car.

The Quilt Show next year will be so Fun.  I get to participate in the yearly Challenge.

My friend Debbi T presented the Challenge.

"Color Story"

 We each got to choose 3 Crayons

We can add one more color to the mix and make a quilt 24 x 36.

I hope some inspiration comes before it's the last month before the show.

I WON this book from the Door Prize.

 It's fun to be a WINNER!

In the back of the room was leftovers from the Guild project bins

Fat Q's for a Dollar and fill a bag for a Dollar.

Here is what followed me home.

The 2nd picture is all that I squished into that Paper Bag.

This cute piece of Nursery Print might come in handy before the year is out.

#21 Grandchild is coming!

I've had to keep the SECRET since our visit in May.

The finale of the evening was the unveiling of the 2017 Raffle Quilt

"Midnight in the Garden" 

The Quilt Show isn't until next March

They announced that

I can hardly wait...

Wednesday- Row, Row, Rowing along-

The Row by Row 2016 started on Tuesday, June 21st. 

I got out to some of the Local Shops.

 4 Kits, 2 License Plates
I'm half way to the magic number of 8 patterns to make my quilt.
I remembered and took pictures of the rows in the shops

My helper didn't want to go out with me again after lunch.
There is one Local shop with odd hours so I'll have to get it tomorrow.
I did go out and get one more this evening. Athena, Oregon is about 1/2  hour away but worth it-

Very Cute Row.
She included the buttons to go on the Apple Tree and knob for the house.

The kits are a little more $$$ than last year.
I feel if the Shop made up KITS and there aren't any Batiks in it -I will buy it.
It will save me Cutting time in the end.
I like that the rows are both Vertical and Horizontal.

I have a little more collecting to do before I decide for sure which rows will be in my Quilt.

Design Wall Monday and Mid Month report -June 20, 2016

The mid-week of June was a Blur.

I didn't get all of my Quilt Zone Time in as planned.

So far this month I have gotten some of my June goals completed though.

My OMG is back on the wall, front and center to think about whether I want to make the rest of the blocks to finish the whole design or just border and frame it so it gets DONE.

Big Questions on a Monday.

What would you do???

June Goals

1- Make Guild Lotto/ Charity Block -Done

2- Farm Girl Vintage  - take to Retreat and assemble the quilt.- Packing it up

3- Make Blocks for Family Reunion Quilt - coming up very soon.

4- Quilt Grand Illusion -Done

5- Catch up on 1930's Farmer's Wife - 5 of 21 Blocks Done

 I did get to go and browse the "Love of Junk" on Saturday.

DD#2 and her Mother by Love came and took me with them.

We only had a couple hours and it was threatening Rain again.

The Big Barn was dry so that's where we started.

I felt  a little like Bonnie Hunter searching for quilts.

I first saw a bag with an "Ocean Waves" done in Pink and White

It looked like someone had taken it apart from the backing, the edges were very oddly cut.

I found this cute quilt and had DD hold it up.

Looked cute, but I didn't buy it.

I did buy some Vintage Cartoon Glasses, I got a deal on them. No Picture

This one jumped out at me.

Bobi & Janessa held it up for me to get a better look.

 I got it home and looked closer, 

It is a Big Stitch Quilt in a bag from China. insert frowny face...

Still cute and it will be a fun one for the grandchildren to choose from when they come and stay.

DD #2 took a picture of the other quilt I saw. I don't have it to share.

 It was damp from being in the weather.  

And it was YELLOW. 

Janessa remarked, "Your favorite Color Mom"

Needless to say, it stayed there.

This is Guild Day in Tri-cities, I'll be going to the evening Meeting if it doesn't rain.

I hear the 2017 Raffle Quilt will be unveiled!

Tomorrow starts the Row by Row! 

I will have a helper to take along to pick up the Local Rows.

Cleaning while I have Grandma time this week.

Gotta be ready for Summer company.

Friday aka: Saturday Post -Non Quilty

I had a plan, I really did...

to get up on Friday and play in the Quilt Zone.

I have a few Quilt Bindings to make and attach, plus 

I need to pack for my Retreat that is coming up very soon.

Oh and there is a "Love of Junk" event happening in the next town over.

Here's the Bubble quilting I did on DGD's Gum Paper Chain quilt this week.

Gotta get them done to enter in the Fairs and Quilt shows coming up.

I got a text from DS #2 that made all other plans a NO GO!

DGS (Dear Grandson) was playing in a Tournament game at 10:15am and 5 pm.

I could make it in time for the Morning game but not the evening one.

So proud of this young man wearing the same #4 as his father's HS Basketball Jersey.

He played Right Field, Catcher and got to Pitch the final inning.

No way to catch up on a 9 point lead.

They lost this one 12-2.

Playing again today, but grandma can't go 2 days in a row.

There was a WARD Luau at Wildwood Park.

WITH a real Roasted PIG on a Spit even.

I hurried home to get a Macaroni salad made and waited for the rain to stop

 or to hear if it was cancelled.

Just about 5 minutes before it was time to walk over the rain stopped!

It was still misty and overcast, but we put on our Hawaiian garb to go and eat.

WHEW- is Friday over yet???

Next up was the Sweets Game in the Rain.

It wasn't pouring down the whole game and they didn't cancel because of Rain.

Had to take a "groupie" of our row.

DD #2 and her inlaws all came to their 1st Fireworks Friday Game.

The boys don't care if it's raining.  Play Ball!!!

We scored 2 and in the 7th inning the Bellingham Bells scored 7.

Another Heart breaker for the WW Sweets 3-9.

They play a 3-game series so there is a chance to comeback and still WIN!

Tonight is Mariner Moose Night!

Will it rain all day? Will we GO??

We left as the fireworks were flaring to go go and pick up our Civic that is now Fixed!

It's only $$$ - I keep telling myself.

So that leaves me with the Drawing of my Giveaway that is now closed and I need to pick a Winner.

Monthly Guild Lotto - June

In May the Guild held a special SEW-IN to make Kids Quilts

 from the Lotto Blocks we've been making and donating.

I was so excited to see all of them.

They posed together so I could get a picture.

They look different with the choices of fabrics.

It sure makes me happy to see the way my Block of the month has been received this year.

Donating the blocks has increased the participation.  

Having a common fabric that is provided also is a Plus.

Here are the Blocks turned in this month.

Making the Pinwheels was a bit tricky for those who didn't have an Easy Angle Ruler.

The framed Blocks were the remedy for too small Pinwheels.

 And for next month - or maybe August

"Strawberry Smoothie"

It was a fun Guild -we had Ice Cream Sundaes.

I have another guild Meeting on Monday so I can keep my Show and Share bag packed.

My Civic is still in the shop so I'm driving this Sweet Ride.

I rented it until this afternoon, but I think I'll keep it another day...

Design Wall Monday - June 13, 2016

I was grounded for the weekend, happily though because that meant I didn't have to be anywhere.

Thanks to the DD #2 and her Hubby for the rides to the last Baseball games this week! :)

 Thursday evening games were in our favor, not so much the Friday game.

But Grandson J got to pitch the final inning.

The picture on the left shows the happy cousins celebrating the BIG Inter-city Tournament Win.

Look at the size of that Trophy!

I played with my Circa 2016 mini blocks all week and got them all caught up with 

Friday Night Sew-in- while Kathy in Canada sewed with her friends.

 Now to get the 120 Hst's all done between the stitching.

Since Paul was gone I had time to cut and sew 5 of my 1930's Farmer's Wife Blocks too.
Poppy was a BIG Pain to make - I see now that I turned the hst's in the wrong.
I also lost a few points... I will be re-making this one.

 Mrs Anderson was made back in March. I ran out of the green with the lambs and little biy
so I saved it to finish later.  Had to use a different green.
I think that is what the Farmer's Wife would have done in the 1st place.

 Then I had Lunch and met Ebony Love from LoveBug Studios

I made my Downton Abbey Quilt with her.

It was so Fun, I had to get a selfie with her. (bottom right)

I didn't get all that I wanted.

My feet were killing me so I didn't attend all of the Schoolhouses I wanted.

 Their Appliqued "Manderly" is stunning!

Melissa of Happy Quilting was in the Schoolhouse with me.

Her Mother by Love; Barbara jumped into action to help hold up the quilts with Franny.

This is where I WON the Drawing and got the Manderly Fat Quarter Bundle.

Lori Holt was my 6th Schoolhouse

 Kimberly Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop introduced her.

 I loved meeting her Daughter and Husband, Mr Honey too.

I saw part of Jill Finley's Schoolhouse

 and the finale of my day was the MODA Designers Intro to the 

"Be My Neighbor" Quilt-Along
