Finally Friday- Mystery Starts

Today is the DAY!!!
Click HERE.  to see what Bonnie has in her Mystery plans for our stitching this week.
My fabrics-
Which color combinations will we start with??
How many of my Blog Readers are playing along???

Just in time for the Mystery I have my 2nd Bonnie UFO - the 2011 L/E BowTie quilt to the Flimsy!
Click on the highlighted words for the Pattern.  It's Free on Bonnie's Quiltville site.
HERE is how she set her Cheddar Bow Tie Blocks together after sewing them into 9's
Time for the Borders
If I use the sewn together sashings that I mis-cut there is plenty.
Thefabricsais s close to the Cheddar as I could find.
It goes all the way around and then some.
I like to use "Betsy's" Table to measure for the borders.

I bought this Purple and Blue fabric at the Quilt shop while I was  on the Guild Retreat in Oct.
I can't decide which I like best.
Maybe I'll have to find a Multi-Colored piece of Fabric in my Stash.
I even have an Offical Name for it now.
"Tic-Tac-BowTie"
I'm so glad to be able to mark this one off the UFO list after only 3 years.

After a little sleep, I got the Purple with yellow dots that was in my Grand Illusion fabrics and tried it.

The dots in it match the inner border- sort of.
 1st Border attached
 Last borders - Measured
TA- DA!!!!
Tic-Tac-BowTie is a Top
58" x75"
Thanks for all the comments saying you like this arrangement, I do too!

"Cascadia" My 2nd NewFO for November

Lori got home in time to post more steps for the QAL HERE.
It's called "Cascadia"
I have used up a bunch of my Leftover Scraps for this QAL.
I'm so glad I cut them for my Scrap Users System.
Thanks to Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville fame!!!

 Part 3- Sewn together

The top strip in this picture is the "Right" way!
Here is how the corner should look...

I did a LOT of UNsewing but it is done now and I can rest easy until the next Part.
Do you think this is a possible arrangement?

Thanks Lori for the fun use of my Leftovers!
It's scrapilicious...

I know I already started a different NewFo!
That isn't counting the Quiltville  Mystery that is starting on Friday -so there is 3 this month...

My "Sheep Shape" Lamb Quilt Mini!
It still need the lamb's legs and face sewn on, the leaves and ric rac stems also.
Then I can quilt it, trim it and hang it up in my Mini gallery.

Linking up with Cat Patches for November.
Only one more Link-up this year and then she is retiring the NewFO link-up :(

Design Wall Monday- November 24, 2014

I un-earthed the Siggy Squares I got at the Small Town Quilt Show in Midway, Utah last June and finally got the corners sewn on.

Since watching that YouTube from Missouri Star Quilts HERE
I've re-thought the layout ideas I've had.

I need  3 more to make this even 10 x 9 = 90 Siggies
I wonder who I can get to send me a Siggy???
Any of my Blog readers want to send me one?
It just needs to be a 4.5" square of White Kona written on the diagonal
with your Name, Location and the year.
It's helpful to know your favorite color for the corners.

QOV Blocks for SEW-IN

Our local Quilt Shop if hosting a Quilt of Valor Sew- In this week-end.
I can't be there but I did make the 4 blocks I took kits for at a Guild mtg a while ago.
Jessica and her son cut and marked the  red squares for the flip and sew corners,
making one less step in the process of stitching.

Here are the Bonus HST's from these blocks.
I have a few more HST's to Play with.

Here's one of the quilts Jessica M made with these Blocks.

Quilts of Valor website is HERE
There are lots of Free Patterns there.

Just one more week until the
"Grand Illusion" Mystery starts!!!
I'm ready!
Got my Fabric and Bobbins are wound, too.

Wednesday Link up- Bonnie Hunter UFO Challenge

It's time to show what I've been doing with my Bonnie Hunter UFO.
I think this is about Option 3
I think I like it!
No sashing and it can be finished before the Mystery starts.
DH comes home and says it looks like a throw quilt.
I have 3 extra blocks. They can go on the back.
I can use the sashing fabric that is already cut for the border and then add 1 more, yet to be selected
I have had to do something with No car and lots of alone time...

Today DD #2 rescued me so I could go and buy my copies of the 100 Blocks Quiltmaker magazine.
Just in case I don't win any during the Blog Tour.
I picked the block that was Bonnie's It's the one right under the "B".

Design Wall Monday- November 17, 2014

The month is already half over and I have made some progress on my November goals.
Thanks to a Hancock Fabrics 20% off total purchase and 50% off sale.

NOVEMBER GOALS
1- Quilt Cassie's Mariner's Compass RR quilt -On the quilting table
2- Work on more Loyal Union Sampler Blocks- YES
3- Sew A-Z Block of the Month Blocks, get to flimsy-  Not quite
4- Christmas gifts (no peeking)- fabric chosen and ideas ready to make

I made the Block of the Week that is due on November 21st.
G-2 Manger
# 54 of 121
I used my Marti Michell templates set B & D
There was a error in the book for measuring the dark Blue rectangles.
It said to cut 4 Rectangles 1.5" x 4 3/4".  I only needed 2 at that measurement.
EDITED: 2 of the Rectangles should be cut 1 3/4" x 4 3/4"
The EQ7 layout is getting full bit by bit.
I love the fabrics and playing with them in different blocks is so fun.

The Quiltmaker 100 Blocks- Blog Tour has started HERE.
I had to find all of my copies and take a picture.
I have extra copies of volumes 2,3,6, & 8

Blog Hopping! It's a Snow DayThing to do...

The Quiltmaker 100 Designer Blocks Blog Tour starts Monday HERE
It's their #10 Issue.  That's 1000 designer Quilt Blocks to play with!
It will be on Newstands November 18th.
I'll be Hopping.
Will you???

I hopped a few of the links on the My Stars: a New Traditions new Book Blog Hop this week too.  Very interesting quilts made with the "Illusions".
Today is the last day of that Hop.

I have spent lots of time this week on the 'Tis the Season Holiday Blog Hop looking for Christmas Gift ideas. HERE  is the schedule.
There's another week of this one. :)
I saw a few that I will be making in the next month!
Christmas is coming.
This is my backyard tree yesterday when the snow started falling around Noon.
We only got a couple inches.

I'm so glad I have a new book to read.

This will be my long term project starting next year.
There is only 90 Blocks and they are 8" finished.
I am leaning toward using my 30's fabrics that have figures on them.
I can fussy cut some blocks.  Lynn is planning to use Western fabrics.

My Midnight Flight Binding is all DONE!
The blue Moda Swirl won out.

I put Warm and Natural Batting in it and it is HEAVY.
This will be a great quilt on my bed this winter!

The Towel/Quilt Closet is all organized now.

I decided to put the smaller Quilts on the Top shelf that goes way up!

What's Stitching Wednesday?

I forgot to take pictures of all the things I stitched yesterday.
Here's my "Sheep Shape" Mini sewn together.

"Cascadia"
Part 1-2
I made them this afternoon and even made an extra and a few have HST's in them again.
The 1.5" pile isn't down much...lol

Last night at Guild I turned in just one Tennessee block
My President blocks I turned in were with a White Background.
uh oh---they were supposed to be cream.
Here are my Re-done blocks, just have to sign one.
The idea is from the Katie Pederson class.
HERE is her website if you want to see her style.

Bonnie Hunter is doing a 5 minute Power Purge  and has encouraged us to join in.
I took a few minutes and re-organized my towel/quilt closet and under my bathroom sink.
I only took a picture of just the Towel shelves in the closet.
I moved some small quilts to the top shelf so the kids can reach the towels better.
This looks much better for company to come.
The grandchildren get to choose their quilts when they come and stay overnight.
Those quilts will be on the bottom shelves.

November Quilt Guild- Lotto Block

Tonight at Guild there were 16 blocks brought in.
"Tennessee"
Not everyone signed for a number so there were only four of us in the running to WIN.
 Congrats to Barb B!

"Union Squares"
Lotto Block for Next Month is HERE

We elected our new Officers for 2015 tonight and had a fun Program from a Previous President.
She shared the Scrappy Silly Goose- Flying Geese and Easy Drunkard's Path from
Missouri Star Quilt Company.

Mindless stitching Friday...

I opened my Blog today and saw that Lori over HERE started a new Quilt-Along.
She is calling it "Cascadia".

This is her 10th QAL.
I haven't made them all.
I'm up for this one while I'm waiting for the Quiltville Mystery.
The 1st part uses a bunch of 1.5" squares.
I just happen to have a few of those cut in my Stash User System Tote.

She tossed a few leftover HST's in the rows so I had to do that too.
Here's 3 sets of the 4 sets I need for the first Part of the QAL.

I see many pieces of Quilts I've made through the years.
Bonnie Hunter might call this digging deep into the stash, I'd say YES!
4 Strips all sewn and pressed DONE for Part 1

I was up extra early again to take DH to work- :(
I had to do something mindless.  Now I can get my day started for real---

We are on the countdown until we get to go and meet the newest Grandbaby!
Oliver James Crowther was born a week and 2 days ago.
I haven't showed him on the ol' Blog yet.
(Pics borrowed from Mom's Blog)
This was my first peek at him.  With his proud & Happy Daddy.
He's as cute as his 3 Big Brothers and Sister!
Have a great week-end.
Be sure to come back on Monday to see what I have New on the Design Wall.
It's the last day to Go and Vote for your Favorite Quilts in the Blogger's Quilt Festival.
There are many categories and you get to choose your 3 favorites in each of them.
I have my fingers and toes crossed hoping I get voted into the final part for the Prizes!

Wednesday Link-up time

It's Link-up time for the Bonnie UFO Challenge HERE.
I need to choose another one of the projects I listed a few weeks ago.
I finihsed my Midnight Flight so next up is...

"BowTies"

I still haven't found the sashing fabric I chose so I'm going to choose something else and
work on this one until it is a flimsy at least!

What color should I find or would it be good to use a second fabric and sash
just the one side with this fabric...

While I search for the right fabric -I will quilt. "Betsy" is Lonely.
I have a few quilts paired up with their backings.

I went out to visit my Quilt Buddy.  Her heart needs to heal.  Prayers for her!!!
I noted I didn't have  siggy square from her for my siggy quilt I showed on DWM. She just happened to have a few leftover from our swap back in 2008.  That's when I started collecting them.

What are you sewing on this Wednesday?
I'm going over to check out all the Bonnie Quilts  being worked on HERE.
23 days until the "Grand Illusion" Mystery...
& Linking up with WOW over at Esther Aliu HERE.
