Memorial Day Weekend

It's the weekend we remember those who fought and died in the service of our Country. 

I remember those in my life who served and loved our country.

We drove to Moses Lake, the 1st time to take flowers to the Cemetery since we returned.

Yes, I'm as tired as I look!

  

I didn’t have any roses blooming yet in my garden so I had to buy them.

Red roses for my Momma and Yellow for Paul’s Mother.

I forgot to take a can to hold water for Mom's.

The bracket Pete made leaks water out.

We found all the graves that we knew were there but couldn’t find in other years. I put a flag on my father’s side of the bouquet for his service in the CCC’s. My uncles who served were true heroes in my life. While in Moses Lake we went to see the Spring Fling in McCosh Park. There weren’t any Spaceburgers this year, bummer for me. I had to eat a Wendy’s Jr Bacon Cheeseburger instead after we went to see the Temple progress. The Missionaries serving there are from Tennessee. They showed us the progress photos on a slide show. They said there isn’t a set date for the Dedication. When the Temple is completed they will go home and not be able to be there for the Dedication. There was a box with broken pieces of the Temple stone from Peru. The Apple Blossom to Bloom carving was meticulously done by one man who never carved a flower before this. His wife is a florist.

I brought a few small pieces home to share. 

The new Stake Center is almost done.

Cladding of the Temple stone continues.

It's a Process and all of the shipments have arrived finally.

On the way home we drove to where my Brother, Allan is buried.

I didn't know exactly where and we looked and looked.

As we were leaving, I stopped to ask the men who were putting away the shelter from a burial if they knew how to find where someone is buried?

It just so happens he knew and had a map on his phone with the locations.

6 graves down from his Grandma Cole... He graduated with Menno, my nephew.

2nd picture for reference next time we go.

His small marker was faded and covered with grass.

We will call and arrange for a marker now that we know how and where to place it.

We will attend Coy's Graduation this week.

His announcement came Saturday.

My Saturday started with a Nap and ended with me going to bed early!

Jacob and Janessa came to mow our lawn.

That got me motivated to get the tulips taken care of.

I used the clippers to cut off the stems and leaves.

Then I covered them with soil. I bought 12 bags at Home Depot.

It's raining again today and these flowers are loving it!

Tuesday - Catch up Day

It was a Crazy weekend! 

Friday night Elizabeth drove over after her work.

We drove to the Park to see the Geese with their babies and the Aviary Birds.

So many goslings!

Mr Peacock was on his perch and making loud noises.

I loved seeing these.

I haven't really walked over to the Park much since coming home.

Saturday was an EARLY Wake-up to get on the bus for Meridian again.

The YSA scheduled this trip and we had to beg for people to help fill the bus. 

Some of the Seniors were busy with Plays and Sporting events.

We missed them.

I didn't get any pictures at the Temple with Elizabeth.

 I took and couple with Us before she drove home.

After we got home Paul decided it was still light enough to Mow the Lawn.

A few passes down the front hill and he took a tumble and rolled his ankle.

So our Sunday started like this...

Waiting 2 1/2 hours for a PA to tell him to "not do it if it hurts"

 A new Boot was delivered and his knee was wrapped. 

She gave him some exercises for his Shoulder that hurts sometimes.

Found out our crutches aren't tall enough for him.

He stayed home all day to elevate his foot and rest.

I didn't make it to YSA. 

There was a Piano Recital for Olivia in Richland.

She played "A Child's Prayer"

It sounded beautiful on the Grand Piano with the great acoustics in the Richland Library.

It was remodeled and the Performance area was added on.

We heard selections from many of the famous composers. 

Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 

Edvard Grieg, Fredric Chopin and Janice Kapp Perry.

Always have to have a picture with Grandma.

Her younger, Only Brother attended and kept shushing me.

I had to take his picture when he was playing one of his "Zelda" songs.

He has it all memorized.

Oh, the Look!

I stopped by Joe and Kori's to give them some of the leftover Cookies I made for the YSA trip.

They told me they still had my Christmas Gift from Last year.

They gave it to Janessa Friday night so I didn't get it until I was at Jacob's game that got called,

a Thunder and Lightning storm came in.

Never too late to receive a New Nativity.

Our Christmas gathering at Joe and Kori's was cancelled because they had Covid.

I had been to their home since then, but they didn't remember to give it to me.

Usually I see them at a baseball field...

Joe set me up with the Gamechanger APP so I can watch and see the boys games.

The schedule and scores are there too.

I did get one more of the Riley Blake Blocks made.

"Tilt-a-Whirl" by Cindy Cloward

I changed mine a bit, using some left over HST parts from another block.

I have 2 more of the Riley Blake Blocks to finish.

I get to Choose a 17th Block to add to my Quilt.

Probably one that I've done before for a sample.

I'll see if I go with the plan and use a tan for the chain blocks.

I doubt I have enough Confetti Cottons for the Alternate Blocks.

I want to use up the Confetti Cottons I have, so maybe mine will be scrappy.

I dare not order more from Online to get shipped to me...

Fri-YAY

 Another week has come to an end.

The Tulips are fading fast.

I see tiny strawberries growing and blossoming.

The Rhododendron is in full bloom and my Quilt is still not a flimsy.

It's windblown and trying it's best to show all the beautiful Blooms.

Paul pruned it a bit TOO Much!

We have had some fickle weather that I hope is over.

I'm ready for Spring and it's almost Summer.

We took a trip to Meridian again this week.

With our Temple closed for the Remodel we made appointments at the closest one.

Our Bishops Daughter got her Mission Call right before leaving for the Temple.

She's the Relief Society President in the YSA Branch.

 Thank goodness for the extra daylight after a 6pm Session.

We met our Mission friends, the Anderson's at Costa Vida for dinner when we arrived in Meridian.

They let us stay overnight in their beautiful New Home, not far from the temple.

We took this picture in the Morning after we slept.

They were busy with the Election and had to go to the Polling place.

So we went to find my Niece, Mindy,

When I told her we were in Meridian she said we were close.

It took a bit to find her place, Paul turned right instead of left...

It  was getting late and we had to make the visit short.

Her dog didn't like Paul's white shirt and kept barking at him.

It was good to see her!

We both miss my brother, Selwyn.

This was our view driving through the Blues on the way home.

We'll be riding in a Chartered Bus the next time.

I had to take a Nap when we got home.

Paul wakes up with the Sun so we left earlier than I wanted.

No fabric was harmed in the week that passed.

Maybe today.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day weekend was fun but not a normal Mother's Day.

No family gathering with Dinner, hugs and Corsages.

I chose to buy my Carnation plants and I can enjoy them a lot longer.

When the neighbors moved I got a bunch of Pots to plant.

Pink Carnation, White Carnation and Primrose.

I got my Chocolate in many forms.

A Symphony Bar at our 3rd Ward, A bag of Lindor Truffles from Paul, and Fudge via the 

Two Sisters Fudge ladies. We knew the Haws sisters in Basin City.

We picked the Fudge up while we were in Tricities last Saturday for Sam's Baseball game.

His first game back on the mound to pitch since his broken foot.

We bought afternoon tickets for the Bravo & Forte' concert.

Olivia and Abby are both in The Tri-city Youth Choir. 

We got them flowers before the show!

Abby was surprised to get flowers. She doesn't know the tradition.

Olivia wore her Walla 2 hat she got at a Sweets game, it matched her shirt.

 We enjoyed the show.

Lots of old songs in this production.

After we got home, we met up with Roma and Gordon at Applebees.

Her co-worker told her that she celebrates with her sister since their Mother isn't alive.

Usually we would go for Chinese, but that night I felt like a steak and Potatoes meal.

We shared a Triple Chocolate Meltdown with Ice cream.

Mother's Day was busy, but not with early YSA meetings. 

We attended our Walla Walla 3rd Ward.

A few asked if we were released and back in the Ward.

Then we went to the YSA as usual but the Elders had Ice Cream Sundaes for us.

No Dishes and No Kitchen Duty for us Kitchen Mamas.

Janessa got me a Pretty Umbrella. 

I got it on a very Rainy Day.

I should have used it when we picked out the flowers at Home Depot and Cascade.

Joe and Kori sent a Bouquet of Purpleness! 

The tulips went wild.

NaDell gave me the Sign on the Door that matches our Doormat.

I heard from all the kids via texts, and phone calls.

On the Friday before, I went on a Shop Hop. I'll have to Blog about it later.

I WON a Prize and will post about it after we go and pick it up.

Tuesday - Time to Quilt

 I had a day of searching yesterday and didn't get in my Stitches.

I finally found my instructions book with the UNITY Quilt I started in Omaha in 2020.

I've added the 1st border part of 3 to be Part two of the Unity Quilt.

Then I sewed all of the Square in a Square blocks together.

Now I can't decide which way to orient them around the flying geese border.

Which way should they go??

Toward the left or the right??

Choices, choices!

I made Part two of the Quiltmaker Jubilee Blocks

Then I ran out of the Background I was using.

Bonnie Hunter is doing hers with Purple also.

So many Blocks that she has made for her Addicted to Scraps column.

The block in the 3rd row might need to be remade. 

The directions didn't compute for a 12" block.

Mine came out at 10"

Part 3 has a Lot of Flying geese to make.

I'll be needing a lot of Background.

I ordered some but am not sure I ordered the right shade.

Dye lots are funny and can be so different.

Stash ordered me some of the Sashing fabric so I can finish the Rhododendron Trail Mystery.

I had ordered some from Fat Quarter Shop that came the day before.

A New block for the 2022 RBD Blue and White Block challenge has been downloaded.

There are only 2 blocks left to get.

Ya for a mystery that will end sooner than December.

Paul looked at the bank statement and said he sees a lot of charges for Fabric stores.

I tallied them up and they don't equal the amount he spends of his RX to keep him breathing.

Quilting keeps me Breathing happier for sure. 

Happy that it is May!
