Finale' Friday

I dislike Finale' Night when my Favorite TV shows or series END. 

BUT... a FINALE' that involves a Finished Quilt!!! 

YES, I really LIKE That!

Windy City Stars finally got Quilted in September!

That was my OMG for 2 whole Months.

How'd I do on the remaining goals???

 September Goals

1- Make Tula Pink City Sampler Blocks and Post Daily DONE

2- Quilt "Circles in a Square" quilt  DONE, mostly (needs two more borders quilted)

3- Finish Blocks for Mary's Mystery (Secret Stitching) Nope

4- Guild Lotto Block - DONE

5- Pat Sloan "Secret Garden" Block of the Month Nope, but I still have Today.

6- "Farm Girl Vintage" Flimsy - Almost there

I'll add the Block Count later- 

Total Blocks = 34
I used the Tula Pink blocks as leader enders for each other.

3 Quilts total went under "Betsy's" Needle in September

Is that a record?

Allietare' would be DONE now if I hadn't needed the Tech guy from Sew n Vac to come.

After re-loading the needle wouldn't go up or down and the wheel wouldn't turn.  

There was thread/fuzz in the Hook.  Imagine that?

It's ready for when I get downstairs later today!

This one gets a scalloped edge Binding.

Something good to do while I watch General Conference!

WOW Wednesday - Working on it!

I seem to have a one track mind in my Quilting Zone lately.  

The Tula Pink Sampler has taken over all other projects.

I saw two examples of Setting the Tula Pink Sampler Blocks at the Quilt Festival. 

The one on the left is made in Christmas Fabrics by Pat J.

The 2nd one is called Stash Bash by M'liss M

Since I am nearly half way to the 100 blocks I thought I should be looking at the settings.

I like the shadow effect and the connected sashing too.  

Guess I need some help from my Quilting Committee.

I am doing good at keeping up with posting the correct Block each day and adding the hastags,

Here are the last 2.

Fussy Cutting is FUN, even when I sew one (Snail) upside down.

Who would have thought I would be using Hastags!???

I'm feeling OLD, can you tell?

My Baby turned 30 this month and my oldest will be 40 next year.

Monday she didn't have to go to WORK so we had Lunch. 

 First time since her Birthday was on a Sunday and I was traveling that we had a chance.

Tried out the Paninni at GRAZE.

She's much better at taking Selfies than I am.

No Selfie stick required this time.

Pat Sloan has Blogged the FINAL part of this year's  Secret Garden Block of the Month  HERE.

I still need to make the two blocks from last month. LOL

And this is on my Quilting Table today.

Allietare' is getting the Quilting!  

I am quilting it with Black Thread, I am not sure I'm liking it, but I wanted to start.

No time to go and buy more Thread.

The Bobbins are adding up...how many will it take?

Design Wall Monday - September 26, 2016

I've outgrown my Design Wall space with the Tula Pink Blocks.

Here are the latest ones.

We are using some Triangles now.

Tula's Method isn't the normal method for HST's.  

Lots of RE-Cutting for the first few.

I like the 3-D effect of this one, but I might have to re-do it for more contrast.

I'm happy to have a pretty EMPTY calendar this week.

Quilting will happen in the basement if I can just stay home!

I finally Quilted my OMG on Saturday.  

I couldn't wait to POST and Link it up with Heidi.

It's FALL - Ya'll!

Gonna be a Hot one here in the Foothills I hear.

Today I'll go to Lunch with DD#2, to break up the day.

Last week of September my friend from Canada reminds me - How many days until Christmas!!

I don't usually Post on Saturday...

I am so Excited that My OMG is Finished!

I put the Windy City Stars on the Quilting Table Friday.

I posted in IG & FB to asked opinions for which Thread to use.

I love Quilting by Committee!

The Verigated King Tut in the center won out and I used the slightly Pink one (Linen) for the Bobbin.

Quilting design is "Rose Garden"

(one of the patterns that came with my Quilt Sew Clever)

The thread blended into the Cream colored fabrics very well.

It is DARK outside so I had to take the Picture on this Freshly Changed Bed.

My Diamond Jubilee Dash Quilt came home so I wanted it on the Bed.

Pardon the Boxes in the corner.

Next up to be Quilted will be My Farmer's Wife or Allietare...

Star Struck Weekend - Quilt Festival & Trends

Fair Warning Lots of Pictures...

I had about an Hour and a half to spend at the Quilt Festival Friday morning.

I was a picture taking crazy Quilter.

I did go back Sunday evening and get pictures of the Winning Quilts with their Ribbons.

First I had to get a picture with Diane Nagle, the Nat'l Featured Quilter

Her quilts are FAMOUS! 

Published in some of the BEST Quilt magazines.

She designed the Silent Auction Quilt for the Festival Committee.

Here is the picture I took of it Friday.

"Grandma's Stars"

Next it was on to Oregon...

With a side trip to Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe in West Linn.

We got there at Closing and I hurried to get their Licence plate.

Left my camera on the counter and had to run back to retrieve it.

I would have been so sad to lose my 100+ pictures from the Quilt Festival.

We planned to go to a session at the Portland Temple.

 DH felt sickly so we passed on that and just went on to the Hotel.

Taco Bell Mexican Pizza for dinner and a quiet night 

watching TV on my side of the sliding door in the suite.

Saturday Morning I went down to catch the Shuttle to EE Schenck.

Who comes into the lobby to ride with us but the one and only Mary Fons!

Yes, I was Star Struck!!!

She has so much energy (caffienated) and came around to ask our names.

She sat down near me and the NEW owner of Pacific Rim Fabrics.

We had a nice discussion about Pre-washing.

I asked if we could get a Picture with her before the rush.  

Another one checked off my List to meet.

 Her speech was one that applied to everyone, not just Shop Owners.

I enjoyed it & wished I had signed up for one of her Workshops to see her Quilts.

I had to find my Quilt Hanging.

You know how it's always the LAST PLACE you look.

Not a winner this time...

But I WON in the Star sightings department.

Marie Bostwick has moved to Oregon from Connecticut and was walking around.

 I finally had to get close and read her name tag.

YEP, it was her!

She called me "BUNNY" and we got a friend to take this picture.

A better picture in the Photo Booth was taken later.

Her next Book comes out in March 2017

I can hardly wait for her Book Tour.

Possibility of her coming to Walla Walla!

Best Theme was by Corrine Woodward of Oakland OR

Beautiful Quilts and I bet it was hard to Choose just one.

The People's Choice Winner was this quilt.

Pretty Quilting by Marlene of KISSED QUILTS.

I also got to see my "Cousin" from Utah!

He and his wife have had health issues that kept them away from Trends.  

They own the Brooks Quilt Shop in Bountiful on Main Street.

These Children are my Real STARS!

Wish all 20 could have been there! I have lost track of how old some of them are!

So bad getting OLDER.

Working on getting more pictures edited and making more Tula Blocks this wonderful Wednesday.

Blogger's Quilt Festival -Original Design Entry

I debated on what to enter for my 2nd entry this Fall

This "Original Design" kept coming back. 

I have to share.

It was inspired by the "Gum Paper Chains" my Sister used to make from her gum wrappers.

The 2nd version is just all mixed up. I call it "Gum Paper Jumble"

Same number of Blocks and borders.

I designed this quilt for a Spring Break Kids Camp class at the LQS.

When the sign-ups didn't happen I invited my 2 oldest Grand-daughters to come for a 

"Grandma Camp".

Luckily they had the same week off this year.

They shopped my STASH, and selected their colors.

I did most of the longer cuts and let them practice with the short cuts. 

They were new to Rotary Cutters!

Neither of them have sewn much so I had to work on the 1/4" seams with them a lot.

They were SEW happy to complete their 1st Blocks.

Here are their versions of Grandma's pattern.

They are happy that I encouraged them to enter them in the County Fair and Quilt Festival.

The quilts have Ribbons on them from the Festival Committee,

Girls with their Quilts hanging at the 150th Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days.

Neon Trees got an "Honorable Mention" from our Judge

I am so pleased with how they did.

We'll do "Grandma Camp" again

I'm sure they will be cozy this Winter.

Unless they give them away.
