Stitching at the Walla Walla Fair

Thursday was a very productive day.  

I made all the blocks for B & T new Baby that is due in late October/early November.

That perfect fabric I showed has been a hit at the Fair.  

Here are the choices that can be made with the Pinwheel as shown by the 

Missouri Star Quilt Company HERE.

 With a Blue coordinated fabric

 With White- 2 versions

I put these on FB and asked Tina which one she liked.

I then made enough for the baby quilt + 1

Which one do my Blog Readers like???

I will make the opposite one for a spare, possibly a quilt to Sell.

I got inquiries about buying a quilt.

I referred them to the Quilt Show that is coming up in September.

I also completed a Quilt this week for my Grandson who had a Birthday at the Fair today.

 I took the Pigma Pen for her to sign the Label I sewed in when I tacked the binding down on Wednesday.

It's not perfect but I'm happy to see my Daughter #2 wanting to sew and Quilt with me.

 I'm tired but in a very good way.  

The smiles on the faces of the people who come to see their Quilts is Priceless!

The State Fair Inspectors that came through last year liked that I was sitting there showing the different quilt blocks & sharing my Love of Quilting with the passersby. 

This year I have a few others who will be sharing their projects while they Volunteer.

 We had to get creative with the large amount of smaller items that were entered this year

I borrowed the Crib idea I saw on Facebook to display some of them.

There were 77 items entered by 46 Exhibitors!

I wish I had kept a copy of the report from last year.

Design Wall/Tote Monday/Fair Sewing plans- August 25,2014

I am going to have a few - like 40 + hours to sit and sew this coming week at the Fair.

Last year I completed the Blocks for the quilt I entered into the Fair this year.

Here it is- because I am in Charge- 

I can tell you I received a Blue Ribbon, and 1 more Ribbon that I can't tell you about, for it.

I can reveal the Big Ribbon WINNING Quilts on Wednesday

We had a Great Judge and my Daughter; Janessa and Edith M were great Clerks this year for me.

I am a Happy Quilter!!!

Setting up this year I've had a Co-Superintendent and that has been better than last year.

I can't find my pattern booklet to work on my Cut Sew Quilt NewFO (insert frowny face)

So far I have three projects ready to play with at the Fair.

1-My Double Wedding Ring Project for my Sister

I need to make another 75 ring blocks.

2-I made this quilt at the Fair last year and it needs binding.

I can Demonstrate a Binding on it one day.

3- My #14 Grandson is Due in late October/early November.

They live in Wyoming so I think this fabric is perfect for some Disappearing Pinwheel or 4-Patch blocks.

I found some blue Gingham that will work as the background fabric.

Wednesday - Flimsy Finish

I should be making my BOM's and BOW's. 

Instead I decided to finish this UFO from last year's Block Party before it gets any older in the Tote.

I un-sewed and re-pinned the one corner of the inner border on during Quilt Cam last night.

It was a trick to get the squares to turn the corner.
The wind didn't help much to get a good picture outside on Tuesday.

(each 12" block has 88 pieces)

I changed the Inner Border.  

Rather than make more of the Purple trapezoids I chose to use the extra 4-Patches I already had

 & set them on-point with two colors of Triangles. 

See her border in this picture I took with Krista Yokum who sat next to me at the Block Party.

Here's my Pic with Bonnie.  That's her Midnight flight in the background.

I think I'm smiling just like this now that it is to the Flimsy!
I just have to add it to the To Be Quilted Stack.
It's #12 on that list.

4- Keep up BOM's  -A-Z, Globetrotting, Guild Lotto -some done

I made my Guild Block and the Globetrotting Block.
I've made just 1 of the Loyal Union Sampler Blocks of the Week this month.

I still need to work on my A-Z Block of the Month and start the CUT PRESS SEW QUILT.

Maybe that's what I will take to work on at the FAIR.

Design Wall/Floor Monday- August 18,2014

It's been a fun week-end and I am happy to report I survived the Family Campout.  

The family quilt didn't get the new additions added because B & T's family had car trouble.  

We missed them.

On the design wall/Floor is my Midnight Flight Quilt still - waiting for the last borders to be added.

I figured that choosing the final border would help me decide for certain which way for the pieced border.

I dug through some of my STASH to find some fabrics that 

1-might have enough to work for the final border.

2- Look good with the Pieced border.

Blue inside?

To me it looks like if I put the Blue inside with the Pink outside that Pink Border is best. 

The reverse it true as well. 

DH likes the solid Blue on the lower right corner.

I'm headed out to "Thread and Bolts" to see what my Quilt Buddy thinks of these border choices.

She might have something in the shop that works even better.

Quilt Guild Lotto Blocks 8-12-14

It was fun to make the block for This month's LOTTO for Guild.  

I waited almost too long to get the fabric cut to be handed out at guild.

We are up to the "R" in the Alphabet

 I chose "Ruins of Jericho" from Quilter's Cache HERE.

 I made two versions.

 I think any solid that matches this "In the Beginning" fabric could be fun in the same quilt.

Here's my Demo Board.

I took my "Row by Row" Quilt, the Tester "Flowering Lonestar", and 

M & C's "Bouquet of Friendship" for Show and Share.

Here are the Lotto Blocks turned in.
My Number was chosen two times and I said draw again.
Won by Pat C who gave them to Maggie S

 April's Lotto Winner brought her quilt top to show tonight.
I Love it!

October's Lotto Winner brought her quilt too.
She took out the striped fabric because her DH said it was Ugly.

She donated it to the Baby Quilt projects we support.

I had fun making these pieced border parts before going to Guild.
I've been putting this quilt off for a while now.

Design Wall Monday - August 11, 2014

The Flimsy is DONE

Christen chose the fabric that I had wanted to use for the background. YEA!

 It measures 106"x 99"

I hope it will fit on my Quilting Table sideways.

 I'm going to try one of my Feather pantos on it.

I just couldn't resist sharing it with him.

That picture was taken when it was getting too dark for pics outside.

Here is the Center before I added the two borders.

I love how the pattern came together just as we wrote it.

Funny how the color is so different outside and inside.

This is what I'm thinking of using for the Backing. 

I have a bolt of it so I know there is enough.

I got my Globetrotting Block for August cut out and made Saturday.

This month Pat Sloan took us to Paris, France

Thanks to the 'eagle eyes' of the quilt police on FB - I saw that I spun the blocks
rather than pointing them toward the center.
After some frogging this is how it is supposed to be sewn.

I am TRYING to RESIST!!!!

I still have a couple challenges left in my head and my BOM A-Z and Globetrotting & 

BOW Loyal Union Sampler blocks are calling to me too.  

Not to mention I'm resting between Grandchild visits and have to get ready for the FAIR.

I have a lot more pictures but will just include this one here.

They were really good boys- Hungry and energetic just like their fathers were...

I love to have them come,.but this Grandma is plum tuckered out today!

Wednesday - What I'm NOT working on...

I have 5 Boys staying at my house so there is a LOT of THIS going on.

I have the M & C Quilt almost ready to put the rest of the borders on.  

I need the Corner Background fabric to be selected before I can go further.

I can work on it Friday and it could be ready to quilt soon.

I found 2 choices that I like with it.
