Quiltathon Day 2 - to Quilt or not to Quilt

Ice covered cars and roads in our area, NO School day.
I declined the Grandma Time today.
It's QUILT-A-Thon Day 2 HERE

I have Class samples to finish for Walla Walla Sew n Vac & Spas.
This one is still waiting - to be quilted.
Choices, Choices...
I can't decide what to QUILT on it!
I'm easily distracted though -
I played around yesterday with my Mod Pineapple blocks from the California class.
I have some partially made.
The "Sewkindofwonderful" Quick Curve ruler makes the arc stitching so much easier!

They need the top sewn together and added to the Pineapple part.
I ordered some more "Kona SNOW" fabric to finish them.
First Block DONE

I stitched some "WELCOME" words in Brown.
Maybe I should do the words in GREEN???
It's Machine Embroidery Month
Maybe I'll play with my Artista some more today...

Linking up with Patchworktimes and check back later to add my Progress.
Hope I have something to SHOW!

WOW - Wednesday - White-out AGAIN

This BIG Box arived from California!
Sylvia's Friend was sharing her stash and since my bags were full I had her ship mine.
Lots of Shirtings to use in the Bonnie Hunter Retreat Quilt this coming May.
Even some yardage for backings.
THANKS Sylvia and Dawn for sharing!

APQS  is giving away another "MILLIE"

I heard it was Embroidery Month so I have been playing with my Bernina Embroidery Machine.
These CTR Pillowcases were supposed to be done last year around this time.
I want to make a new Church Bag for my new Calling so I stitched up this cute little
flowers and butterfly.
Crazy Hubby says I spelled it WRONG.
I before E except after C
Right or Wrong I'm keeping it.

I hope to be Quilting on this SOON,
I've got a few new patterns to try out on it.
I didn't get much quilting done Monday and Tuesday.
Just a bit in the Morning and I don't like to have to turn "Betsy"  off halfway through.

The Goodson Boys requested Grandma Mary time.
This was Tuesday - Big Fluffy Flakes of Snow all Day!
No automatic alt text available.
They helped Grandpa, even though the snow was still coming down.

I swept the walkway twice and looked out again to see it covered.
No use Sweeping again...

Design Wall Monday - A Birthday too, February 6. 2017

The National Quilts of Valor Sew-in was Cancelled for Saturday.
The Icy roads kept us home from Sam's Baptism, too

What's a Quiltingrandma to do???
Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling
Put on your Tiara and SEW!
With each Star Block you can get 4 tiny Hourglass units.

I had to find something "good" about the Snow...
It makes it FUN to take a Quilt Flimsy Picture.
The chevrons all going the same was a bit of a challenge.
Used more fabric, but I like it!

I also got the Borders on my Farm Girl Vintage.
That marks one more OFF the Goals for February.
No automatic alt text available.
I don't know why I put off doing the Borders---
Lots of pinning to get these borders on.
I changed the corner Blocks and substituted the Pie & Fork Block for the Teapot.
Now I need to just decide how to Quilt these two Flimsies and hope "Betsy" is cooperating...
The wrinkles will "quilt out", right?
It's hard to get it laid out without footprints all around, lol

Birthday's & Celebrations continue...
Today it's our Oldest Grand-daughter's 14th B-day.
Had to find this picture of her in the Dress Great-Grandma Brown made for her mom.
She's been on the Blog a few times.
Remember this one? 2011

There are 21 Blocks here.
I hope to make a few more and get it to Flimsy.

It will be my One Monthly Goal for February also.

WOW - 1st Wednesday of February 2017

It's a NEW Month today and I am getting back to my Quilting Zone.
"Betsy" was a very Good Girl on the last day of January.
I'm ready to attach 2 Bindings to sew while I catch up on my DVR-ed shows.
I had to get SOMETHING DONE to start the year.

Way too many days away last month.
DH tallied my flights- I was on 9 plane rides to and from California and Wyoming.
Lots of pretty scenery to see.
The Tetons were showing off as we took off and a Beautiful Sunset.

I didn't work on last month's OMG at ALL, I didn't even find the Tote.
 I blogged about it HERE

I'll post next month's Goals on Friday.

Design Wall/Floor Monday, January 30, 2017

Sitting in the Airport
Posting my Monday not so Quilty Design Wall Post.
Anna's quilt only made it to a Flimsy before we left.
The first Picture was just the Blocks
The Flimsy was done and I took it to show Tina.
I need to fix the last Border - look like I measured once and cut the wrong size for it.
It rippled and I doubt I can "Quilt it out"
"Betsy" was being finicky and wouldn't Work again.
[Grandma needs a Gammill...]

This is how far I got with the Kid's Camp Sample

The OMG was never found this month so I won't be linking up with a finish :(
Baby quilts and Airplane rides took the time that would have been spent on it anyway, lol
 Grandma & her newest Granddaughter,
     Anna Louisa Crowther
Big Sister's skirt fit, just like Grandpa said when I started making it.
Anna didn't grow too much, her dress fit perfectly!
Grandpa gets his first turn to hold the baby!
The reason to take a flight into the Wild Wyoming Winter...
Anna's 1st Father's Blessing on Sunday. The highlight of the trip.

To make it a little bit Quilty...we slept under a Quilt made by Paul's Mother and given to
 B & T family.
I didn't realized until the final day.
We took these two cuties for a ride in the Rental car to see the Star Valley Temple.
We will miss them all!

Thanks for letting us share Anna's 1st White Dress Day.
Sorry the Bosen Grandma and Grandpa couldn't be there, too
I'll link up with Patchwork Times
When I get Home.

Design Wall Monday on Tuesday - January 24, 2017

It was a Whirlwind week-end.
I have something NEW that I can show on my Design Wall.
At Road2CA I took a class with the 3 Sisters of "SewkindofWonderful"
There were 8 in our Group, 5 of us took the class.
It was great fun.
We got this Group shot but not one with our Teachers, Sorry...
I had to borrow some Background from the teachers.  Oops, left mine behind.
I need more to finish the tops of my Pineapple.
It was fun to take a Class together.
Pineapples were all different colors.

I slept under Doug's Grandmother's Quilt and woke up under Yvonne's STAR.
We were treated like celebrities and fed like Queens.
Thanks DOUG!!!
I had a few "Quilt Star" sightings
A picture with Eleanor for Brandy, lol

& one with our Guild's Featured Teacher in April

Jill Finley in her Booth.

Teamwork to push the Camera Button.

There are so many more photos, more to come
I'm tired and have a quilt to get finished before Wednesday night.

Turning the BIG 6-0

Road to California is coming up and I am GOING!!!
Since it's my 60th Birthday this year, I have planned and schemed and I'm running away to California to meet up with my friend Wendy and Sylvia again.
We had such a grand time in Chicago in 2015
Here we are at the "Iron Quilter competition"
I'm so excited to GO!
I miss my Friend so much!!!
I've only been to the Airports in California or at a gas station,. en route to other places.
Turning 60 is a great excuse to go and enjoy some California Sunshine
and maybe even go to the Beach in January.
Watch out for Pictures next week.

I just read that there is a chance to send Blocks to be donated to Cancer Patients through the
Robert and Beverly Lewis Cancer Center in Pomono, CA.
It's called "Roadies Give Back"
saturday-january-21-7-00-pm
Click HERE for all the INFO and Free pattern from Anita Grossman Soloman

They started accepting Blocks as of January 11th. I can deliver them at the Show also.
They will be assembling them on Saturday night, the 21st.
I  was going to share this at my Guild mtg last week, but it was canceled due to our Crazy Weather.
Freezing Rain - Flight Cancelled - Re Booked - YEA
Arriving later than planned.

Design Wall Monday - January 16, 2017

My Wall looks much the same as other Walls/Floors happening right now in Blogland.
Quiltville Mysteries are getting finished and even more are the works of being completed.
Mine was going to be done with only 4 Big Blocks, but I just couldn't stop there.
I had too many extra parts in the tote.
Here is what it looked like last time I laid it out.
The pieced Sashings that go vertical needed to have the 4 -patch oriented differently.
The need to make more anyway old me that more Blocks would be in my future.
So I have the parts all cut, ready to sew more Sashings and more Blocks.

I like the Blocks that are being sewn together.
Webbing them is fun.
They are BIGGER than the blocks I'm making for my Class Sample.
I have those blocks ready to set together as soon as I figure out a better setting for them.
My plan in EQ didn't match the look I wanted when I laid them out.
Back to the Drawing Board with them.
What would you do with these?
Alternating Solid Blocks, Chain Blocks, sasshings and cornerstones?
Help, my Bloggy Friends, please!

There's a Tri-Cities Quilt Guild Meeting today that I would like to attend.
I'm a BIG Chicken when it comes to driving on slick roads.
I'll wait and let Paul Drive me later tonight.
We need to pick up my Sister and her husband from the Airport later anyway.
This makes is just one trip and I don't have to drive alone.
I'll be sewing all day trying to get my Samples at least to Flimsy for a Picture.

My Birthday Celebration was Fun!
Saturday we had time for a Temple Session with a few of our Family and then we had Dinner at Texas Roadhouse with 4 of the 6 and their Spouses.
10 of us for a "groupie"  Thanks Janessa!
Image may contain: 9 people, people sitting, table, drink, indoor and food
I was happy the Birthday Saddle was out of order!
I got a singing and big YEE HAW from the waiters and Ice cream.
No Cake, No Candles to set the Roadhouse on fire.
Being 60 isn't so bad with family and friends who showered me with good wishes and Love!
125 of them posted on my Facebook timeline.

Frosty Friday - Quilt Zone Projects

It's been busy in the Quilt Zone.
Too Cold to go outside!

Class Samples are happening and En Provence is ready to SEW.
My Blocks on my Big 18" Design Board from Fat Quarter Shop
Find them HERE
Sashing Strips.
I had the En Provence broken up into 9-Patches.
When I tried to take them down to the Quilt Zone they got tipped and I had to lay it all out again.
So I'm sewing it the way Bonnie directed now.
Mine will be small.  There just isn't time for me to do more.
I want it done for our Bonnie Hunter Retreat in MAY.
We are making 2 Projects in Retreat A
Midnight Flight and Garden Party.
I will take a different project to work on the first day.
I never want to make a Midnight Flight again.
There are too many other quilts to make in my lifetime.
Getting older and having a STASH that exceeds my expected life.
I want to make what I want. No Repeats.
Pardon the RANT!

I had fun cutting some HST's with my Rulers.
I wanted to compare
Quiltville Essential Tool and Easy Angle

I cut the parts for a Churn Dash Variation
Lots of HST's to trim
I usually use my Tucker Trimmer, I had this small one handy.
I put it on the diagonal line and only had a dog ear to trim off using the HST Tools

Here are the Blocks I have ready to lay out for my next pattern.
Possible Kid's Camp Class this Spring.
I used a different fabric in the center and will repeat it in the borders.
A Fussy Cut or Embroidered Block would work in the center.

These blocks have many different names and Variations in EQ7
Churn Dash, Double Monkey Wrench, Grecian Square, Greek Square
It was fun to play with it.
This will give them a chance to make the quilts different.
Settings can be different too.
Watch to see how these end up.
I keep waking up and drawing out other projects that come to me.
I need to get the Information for the new Class Schedule next week.
I sure hope the classes go better this year.
I'm going to try some Daytime classes, along with the Kids Class during Spring Break.
