Blogger's Quilt Festival - #2 "Sailboats & Anchors"

I stitched and stitched all day to get this one ready to post for the Blogger's Quilt Festival.
I was trying to get it done before the Baby and his parents I am making it for left for home.
I finished about an hour after they left :(

Oh well, road trip...
I got this cute Anchor from Intelligent Quilting.
It was just perfect for this baby boy.
He was born pre-mature and spent 2 months in the hospital in Oregon.
His parents brought him home for his 1st trip to his Grandparents house this week-end.
I think he deserves a cute quilt!
I had to snap a sneak peek pic for my Daughter once I started the quilting.
The Sailboats were in my Pile of Blocks, waiting to be quilts.
They were on my Design Wall Monday post back in 2013 HERE
This project obviously didn't get made into a quilt for the intended Trends.
Sometimes it is good to have a few blocks just waiting to be a quilt for a special person.
The Block pattern came from the book on the right by Nancy Johnson-Srebro.

And as every quilt that leaves my house- it has the label attached and signed by me.

I'm entering this one in the Small Quilt category HERE

Blogger's Quilt Festival time- Original Design

AmysCreativeSide.com

It's time to Link up for the next Blogger's Quilt Festival.
I've participated in the Spring and Fall Blogger's Quilt Festival during Quilt Market since Amy called her Blog 'Park City Girl' in 2009
I wanted a Brand NEW quilt but the quilting didn't get done as planned.

I had a couple of New 'Original Designs' this year.
I have 4 New Patterns. It's hard to choose just one.

"Through the Hourglass"

This Quilt was designed in EQ7.
I LOVE being able to say I made this one ALL Myself!!!
I wanted to use some Bonus triangles I had from another quilt.
I was making blocks for another pattern and this Design just took over.
The Border fabric was my inspiration for the Color Scheme.
I notice My colors match the Blogger's Quilt Festival LOGO!
I spent a half day cutting all the Strips and Squares, it seemed.

I learned a LOT in the making of this quilt.
I had to figure out how to make the stripes all go in the same direction.
Tips on how to do that are written into the Pattern.
The outside strips are added to the blocks with a Partial seam.

Here it is all quilted
[I spent a few days un-Quilting on the last row, it didn't measure how it should]
The design stitched much smaller than I thought it should be.
I wanted to use a "modern" quilting design.
The stitching is only 1/4" between.
I'll have to try it again on a different smaller quilt.

Here it is in the Window downtown waiting for the class this Saturday, May 16th

Quilt Stats:
Quilt Name- "Through the Hourglass"
Finished Quilt Size- 60" x 82"
Quilt Top size (before quilting) 66" x 88"

Batting- Mountain Mist
Quilting Design- 'Amazing" Continuous
Started- January 29, 2015
Finished- March 21, 2015

Blogger's Quilt Festival- will you be joining the FUN???

AmysCreativeSide.com

It's my favorite time as a Blogger!!!
~Really~

I will be getting my 2 favorites ready for sharing in the next 2 weeks.
Quilting, Binding, Hanging sleeves, Taking the fun Photos

I hope to have a quilt that I haven't shared a hundred times on the old Blog this time.

Will it be one of these???
Strippy Stars #2                              or                           Windy City Stars

I got the Borders on so these two are Flimsies now.
Judy D said it would only take an hour...she was about right.
It took me a little more than an hour with interruptions to measure twice -Cut once, lol
Taking pictures with my old set-up so I didn't chance falling off the BIG ladder.
Who knows???
It would mean a couple of long quilting days and my calendar keeps getting filled with other things.

I am still debating what color thread and what Quilting pattern to put on these two.
Any Suggestions??
Maybe a Variegated Red for the Strippy Stars #2???
That Creamy solid square is daunting when considering the quilting of my Windy City Stars.

The Categories are:
Mini, Small, Large, Applique, Art, Hand Quilted, Home Machine Quilted,Modern Quilts, Original Design, ROYGBIV, &  Scrappy Quilts
