Wednesday- Show and Tell

My sewing machine has been BUZZING!  Both the Bernina at home and the Janome at Thread and Bolts. I know it isn't a RACE ti finish my Block of the Month but if you click the link, you'll see I'm far from winning.  I'm loving the "U-Taupia" Quilt in these Purple colors. Lynn almost has me talked into making it too.  Maybe just the sashing idea on some of my sets of orphan blocks, lol

Here's some Progress Pictures for my Wednesday posting. First my "The Romance Continues" BOM-
"Engagement Party"
On Tuesday I made the Block (above) and a few of the Alternate full and half-Blocks.  I'm ready to sew on the sashings and cornerstones onto each block and watch this quilt grow. I'm really loving making 12" Blocks this year! I'm half done with the main blocks, not counting the one with pink that is in process of being sewn again with the correct fabrics.

Next up- EASY STREET aka: "Busy Street"

The center of this quilt is finally together. I saw that one of my Blogging WASIQ buddies- Judy D was sewing on her Easy Street yesterday.  I had to take some time-out to watch Bonnie Hunter on Quilt Cam.  Not to be outdone, I sewed until mine was together (into the weee hours). Now I get to choose some border fabrics and I'm thinking I'll use up some of the 'spare' parts for a pieced border too.
Last but not least my SAL from Temecula Quilt Co.
This one needs one more fabric for the top and bottom borders.  I like the stripe that I fussy-cut for the side borders.  WHEW and this is just Wednesday...

Design Wall Monday- December 31, 2012

It the last day of the year and time for my final DWM posting.  I took a bit of time to sew on the "EASY STREET" Mystery between events with family this week.  I'm happy to say I'm almost ready for the part 7 being released this morning.
First I had to draw and line on the purple 2" squares to make the Part 5 pieces.  Using an emery board works for me.  It doesn't slip and I can do these while watching TV.  I even found a new Purple one to use on the purple squares.  I still need more Turquoise and Black on White fabrics to finish the last two steps all the way. I have 6 different combinations for the Black on white 3-1/2" squares for part 6.

Maybe this morning's clue will be to put these parts together some how.  I can hope, right?  Bonnie is teaching in Texas so there isn't a link-up at Quiltville this week.  HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!

I'm linking up to Judy L HERE, She posted her DWM early.

Design Wall Monday/Easy Street Link-up- December 17, 2012

Dear Hubby was home on Saturday and came down to ask what I was doing.  I showed him my string of FG sewn by twos for Part 4 of Easy Street.  I got him to take a picture. He asked why did I sew them that way?  To save thread, fellow quilters, right? Yes, Lynn I did Pin them to get the points just right. See my fairy frost purple and the little birds I found in the Back on white??

64 all pin into sets of 10 and one of  4
I had to add the stripe and lt teal to my wings. I didn't feel like going out in the rainy cold with this yuck I have already.  It's getting better, just have to keep the roll of tissue close by to catch the runny nose.

And for Janet O who asked how many 'siggy' squares I have collected...
On the big wall are the ones from Friends, Fellow Quilters and Bloggers I'v' met, Famous (or published) Authors and quilters I've requested a Siggy from. My siggy from Judy L came with her Weekend Quilts Book I ordered from her when she still lived in Nevada, MO. I'm thinking I'll use the Word Play letters again and put it on the four side borders where I collected these from. ie: Friends, Fellow Bloggers, Famous Quilt Authors and Fellow Quilters sounds good to me.  I have included a could blank squares in it already.  I have a few more to collect along my way... This Name-Dropper quilt might even get my panel of the Quilter.

Click around Blogland HERE for the Easy Street Link -up  and HERE for Judy L's DWM.
Please leave comments. I see I had over 200 visitors to last week's link-up and only a few comments.

Slow going around here...

The two trees have lights on but still not many ornaments, Tree Top Angels or garlands put on.  DH informs me after 37 Christmases that the artificial trees are dusty and bother him. He can't sit in his favorite chair to read the newspaper.   I thought all these years that a 'real' tree was a problem.  I waited to finish decorating for Jeff to help and he isn't interested in doing it either. I can't WIN!
I haven't felt up to much sewing or Blogging,  I did get all of parts 2 and 3 done for Easy Street while I've been grounded.  I'm ready for Part 4 tomorrow.  The bow tie box is bulging!  I'm still catching up on the part 1- 4 patches.  100 more to make.
This morning I saw these Pillowcases waiting for me to finish up to give to the Helpline Women's Shelter. I just got on it and serged the final seam and sent them on the way to Lynn.  She says the goal of 100 is almost met.  Here are 15 more than she had yesterday.
And this is the pile of selvages I got from the cut-off part.  Jeff was watching as the serger cut it off for me.  I guess he hasn't seen how my serger works before.
