Last night was our Annual Quilt Guild Symposium.
I was asked to talk about FUN with BORDERS!
This is the only Picture I took at the Event.
I was so busy 'talking' to everyone.
Any Blocks can be put into strips and make a Border.
[picture]
L-R: Flip n sew border strip, strata strips, Downton Abbey Flying Geese, Judy L's "Big Star" Sashing, Leftover parts from Quiltville 2014 "Grand Illusion" Mystery,
The Purple and White on the corner of the table are Ricky Tims one seam 3-D Geese.

I knew I had a FEW good Quilts with FUN Borders.
Many Thanks to Judy Laquidara's Books and Bonnie's Quiltville Mysteries and Workshop.
I was in such a hurry when packing up to leave that I didn't get these 2 books in my stuff to show the Ladies at the Symposium,
I have gotten a few Ideas for Borders from these 2 books.
The Borders on this Spiderman Zig Zag D9P came from "Weekend Quilts" pg 74.
Opps!-- laying it out this morning I see it is short one block there on the Right Side...
Easy fix. I have an extra one to use.
I started this quilt in 2008 when I was making quilts for ALL my Grandchildren.
Back then I didn't have as many as I do now.
Time to re-make some that are too small for them and worn out now.
I know CKC would Love to have a different quilt.
He reminds me when he sees me that his is TOO small.

Purple & Yellow were a Monochromatic Color Challenge from Judy L in 2011.
Flying Geese Pillowcase border is "Easy Street" leftovers. Thanks to Bonnie Hunter.
Strippy Squares is "Brrr Hearts" on my from a Guild Sew-in May 2012.
The credit goes to Maggie Ball for that pattern in "Bargello with a Twist"

2nd Picture-
Bottom row- Marti Michell "American Beauty" Block of the Month 2010
2011 McCall's Quilt Design Star Contest Challenge #1, "Be-Ribboned"- 'ribbons' from HST's.

I had to lay out my quilts and take these pictures this AM.
It takes a while to get the TEXT credit on them.
Thanks for looking.
I always want to remember where I got my Ideas and give credit to the designers.

It's another Pretty SPRING day here in my Town!
SOOOOO Sorry for those who got more of the WHITE STUFF!

WHOO HOO! 3 Days of Inspiration!!!

I attended the 3-day RICKY TIMS SUPER SEMINAR in Pasco, Washington.
Sponsored by Janean's Bernina and  The Tri-City Quilters.  It began on Thursday and ended Saturday afternoon.  It was jam packed full of Demonstrations and sharing from the 3 "Famous" Quilters that were our speakers. Our Walla Walla Guild had a large group, I didn't get pictures of all of us. I enjoyed visiting and eating Lunch with a few of my fellow guild members. I'm glad my DD #1 lives close by the RED LION so I didn't have to drive back home each night to Walla Walla.

If I had been a member of the Tri-City Guild I would have had a RESERVED Front Row seat.

I was HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY to get my picture taken with each one.

(my first one with Ricky, I was talking so I had to get a 2nd one) Remember Re-take days at School?

Ricky played the PIANO Friday night and told his stories- The Concert was beyond Wonderful!
I wish everyone could have been there.  If you get the chance don't miss out.
He made me CRY, I'm such a Bawl Baby when it comes to Music.  Some songs just get me!
The stories hit a chord with me too.
He performs at Paducah almost every year.

This is Mary (Brown) Kanikeberg from Ferndale, Washington with Ricky Tims.
We met in the line waiting for the registration to begin. The line was divided Alphabetically.  She said something about growing up "Mary Brown" and my ears perked up instantly!
How in the world can meeting another "Mary Brown" happen??? It was SERENDIPITY, right???
Ricky is holding a copy of Quilt Life Magazine that featured a story telling all about
Mary's Quilting Club at the High School where she was the Principal.
She brought it for Ricky to autograph.
Mary is now retired and the quilting club doesn't exist in the school anymore :(

This is Justin Shults, Ricky's Right hand Man!  He runs the Business and the Cameras at the Seminars.

A blurry picture of Ricky taken with my camera phone- his Bohemian Rhapsody quilt is behind him.
He said he doesn't do thing that are HARD!  He likes quilts that are Fast, Easy and FUN!!!
WHOO HOO!!!
We all said that A LOT this week-end!

I was the most excited to meet ALEX.  I have watched her for years on HGTV's "Simply Quilts".
Her Hubby came too. If you bought a BERNINA she gave you a Bowtie Block that she made and signed.  Too bad I didnt' have the $$$ to afford a NEW Bernina.  Someday!
I posted about her new book HERE.  You can get it HERE
SORRY,  Fellow Bloggers, I wasn't able to buy an extra copy so...
I don't have an autographed one to have a GIVEAWAY.
She only took Cash or Check and I was using my Credit Card. (no $$ left to write a Check).

I was not as familiar with Melinda Bula before going to this Seminar.
Her style of quilts is not Traditional, but they are very BEAUTIFUL!
I took lots of pictures of the many quilts in the gallery. Each Designer brought a collection.
AMAZING WORK!  Alex admitted she has 'quilted by check'.
Ricky and Melinda both do all of theirs on a Bernina 750!

You can CLICK on the Quilter's Names above our Pictures to go to their websites.

New Friends and re-united Friends from the Block Party.
(left)Mary K and Shari, who saved me a seat each morning.
(right) Christina Blom and I. We first met at the Block Party in Portland last March.

We started at 8:30pm each day and went until 5:30pm with lunch and breaks between DEMOS!
I didn't BUY much, but am SEW Glad I could go.
The best part is that NO UFO's came home with me.  Just lots of IDEAS and inspiration.
Pictured is the Syllabus, with Ricky's "magic pencil" on it, my name tag, FREE Current Copy of The Quilt Life Magazine, Alex's Book and the DVD of "STITCHED". I got my Siggy Squares signed, too!
