Stash Report - December 18, 2011

OPPS! This Stash report has been Cancelled by my REMOVAL of TONSILS.  I'm hurting so much worse than I was before the surgery I can't think. The medicine they gave me for pain makes me sick and the numbing medicine makes me dizzy. So I'll have to play catch up another day when I'm feeling back to my old self.  It is pretty quiet around here. Think I'll go take a nap!

I've been busy with the Grandchildren's gifts and the Yardage is adding up! It has been a good week.  I finished a Birthday gift also! I had to add a bit to go with the fabric I used.  I cut off the selvages and measured them to find out how much I used.  Watching "It's a Wonderful Life" and cutting up Stash- my kind of Saturday Night. Thanks to THREAD AND BOLTS QUILTING and STASH. I even earned some Stash Cash to spend on next years fabric needs.  21 Days Until Christmas...

I didn't stitch much this week.  I had a lot of fun going to Utah and finding some Civil War fabrics in Woods Cross.  The best part of my week was meeting Janet O and seeing Jennifer Chiaverini again.  I'm so lucky to have so many friends, both online and here in my town.  This week is Thanksgiving and I will continue to COUNT my Blessings.  I hope to get some Christmas gifts made and use a bunch of fabric.  It would be nice to end the year in the Black...  I didn't start the NEW Bonnie Hunter Mystery either so I can spend my weeks that I have left working on Christmas gifts. 4 weeks until Christmas!

I don't need the extra guilt and stress I have come to realize. I will keep track of how much I use and keep a running total. I have many UFO's to finish and will concentrate on that. I'm working on my UFO list and checking it twice. 42 Days until Christmas...

Nothing in and nothing out this week.  The Mariner's Compass quilt is still getting loaded in the quilting table. Batting is cut and the top is fixed. I was happy to find the HST wasn't sewn in right so I didn't have to find the fabric to replace the missing piece.  See picture HERE.  I had hoped to quilt it out at Lynn's but that won't happen in time to take it to show Jennifer so my quilt table will have to do.  What to quilt on it is the big question now!

Not a lot of major stitching this week. My two quilts that needed binding got Finished and that is my great accomplishment for the week. The fabric for binding was already counted when I made it, part of it came from the trimming of the backing. Putting another quilt on the Bernina Quilt table late Saturday evening used more fabric. Pulling the paper off Paper-pieced HST's=NOT FUN!

I was a good girl and only bought Thread to finish the quilt in my Quilt Table this week.  It sneaks in through the Mail, what is a Quilter to do?  My Father-in-law told me Saturday that I have a problem, when I told him I have Plenty of Fabric in my house to quilt with.  I received this pretty fabric in the Mail from the "Quiltmaker" offices in Golden, Colorado.  I volunteered to be a 'Tester' for Volume 5 100 Blocks issue coming out next Summer.  I get a sneak peek at the blocks, make them to test the patterns, and the best part is I get to keep them!  The Blocks I make can't be shown on the Blog so that means a few more secrets to keep.  I'm getting good at keeping secrets... They sent this pretty fabric to use if I choose to.  It came Postage Due, but I paid the extra and it will be reimbursed.  They used an EXPRESS Envelope instead of a Priority and only paid the the Priority.  OPPS!
The fabric used this week was for Christmas Gifts, so no pictures of that project either.  If I make a bunch of what I made this week,  it will help my numbers on the Stash Report, YEA! I used fabric for finishing the Commission Quilt I'm doing but I didn't buy the fabric and it wasn't from my STASH.  That would have added about 10-15 more to my USED number.  Only 63 Days left-  How much sewing can I get done in what time I have left?  We shall see...  ThreadandBolts is CLOSED for remodeling this week, so I'll have to find something else to work on this week between Voting for my QUILT on the McCall'squilting.com site.

Stash Report - October 16, 2011

Another week and a bit more fabric USED!!!  I stayed out of the Fabric stores basically and sewed at home.
I had Quilt Guild and even my Secret Pal was good and didn't give me fabric to count. I finished and mailed out my Baskets for the Friendshipblockswappers Yahoo Group and played with my Civil War fabrics too.  It's hard to calculate the fabric used exactly.  I try to keep all of the selvages I cut off and use that measurement as a guide. That cream background fabric for the baskets used up most of the total. Not too shabby, I'm under the 100 yards Net Fabric Used YTD this week.

I went almost all week without fabric sneaking in.  My Cousin sent me a package of pieces of Fabric from Lori Holt's new fabric line, "Daisy Cottage".

 You can see where I blogged about the fabric if you click on Lori's name.  I'm glad to have it and figuring out how much of it there was, was fun.  I laid it out on my cutting mat and layered it 3 times to equal 3 fat quarters so only 3/4 yard added.  I had a idea to use it up quick and what I did used up almost all of it, what's left will be a border or binding so I'm counting it all used.  The used number is getting closer to the GOAL of 200 yards used this year...and that is my main goal- to see just how much I used this year.

I had to Buy some Cream fabric to finish one last SWAP and going to the two LQS on the "Hop The Blues" Shop Hop, a bit more Fabric jumped off the shelves as well.  I did a binding on a quilt just before the deadline to enter the Quilt Show last month and received a $20 gift card, so that is what I spent, not 'real' $$$. I have a fairly good plan for the fabric I purchased this week.   It just adds up.  Now that my McCall's Challenge is Finished, I'll have stuff I can show to put up on Design Wall Monday.  I'm anxious to show it to everyone, but it will have to wait until October 18th.  I think it will be a surprise to some.

Stash Report - Sept 25, 2011

I dreaded counting all that was added to my STASH this week.  Actually Lynn had to count it for me... The deals at Trends were just too good to pass up!  You can see the stack HERE.  I had to do a Stash Enhancement post to prepare for this one.  I've tried to use up some with my Challenge quilt this week, since some of what I bought was for that purpose.  Some was just because- no particular project in mind. Christmas is coming - the ticker says 91 days.

It's my #2 Daughter's 25th Birthday.  I had to buy some fabric for the McCall's Quilt Design Star Final Challenge this week.  Time is ticking away!  My Secret Pal at Guild gave me some new fabrics too.  It all adds up.  I've used a bit for my swaps and will buy a bit more since I used up some that I still need for swaps before the week-end is up...

My Stash report isn't as good as it could be... but it's getting better!  The songs keep coming to me and I haven't been able to stop and just 'design'.  I doubt that the editors at McCall's realize how hard it is for me to choose just one song!  More will get used in the next 3 weeks.  Because the deadline is shortened by the need to Quilt it and have it mailed to be received at the McCall's home offices for the "beauty shots"  for the Magazine.

Stash Report - Sept 4, 2011

This week has been filled with Quilting and stitching at Lynn's between having Family/Company. I got the Commission Quilt all cut out BUT, I won't count it on here  We made a Special "secret" project that is a joint effort for Trends this Fall.  I figured we used 11 yards for it. I 'm not counting it on here, either. A new Panel came in and I got one to play with later. It is a bit less than a 1/2 yard worth, I have to count that.  The only legal useage I had was the backing on the two UFO quilts I finished.  I used a bunch of leftover binding to bind the quilts, so they are scrappy! My Saturday stitching didn't end up the way I wanted or I'd have more in the USED portion of the Report.  Judy L has issued a STASH Challenge for the next  four months/the rest of the Year.  We are to state how much we think we will use.  Hhmmmmmm... I'm happy to see my numbers for how much I've used already this year. I think, I could possibly reach the 200 yard mark.  That's my Goal, OK?  Lets see if I can get and keep that Other  Number UNDER 200, you know the one-- FABRIC ADDED.

I would have had O yards added if I hadn't made the mini quilt with my eldest grand-daughter this week.  She played with my scraps and designed a quilt for her little sister.  We got it quilted at Lynn's But to do that, had to get fabric from Lynn's stash for the backing. My last Word Play Class was held and I cut borders and sewed them on so that accounted for a bit more fabric used. You can click on the highlighted words to see this one at the "flimsy Stage".   I got binding cut for the Challenge #1 quilt and it is sewn on and ready for tacking down on the next road trip- when I'm not driving.  It was a good "Quilting" week all in all.  Fun to pass the skills on to the next generation.

I have been "Stash Enhancing" this week again.  Our Guild Yard Sale was held and I worked for a couple hours.  I got there early so I looked at the bags of fabrics and a few pieces jumped into my arms.  They were Purple, I couldn't resist, some Civil War( ie: really old, very thin or non-existent Selvages) and some were background fabric.  I NEED more background fabric for my quilts. LOL!!!  And who can beat the prices at a Yard Sale! A partially done quilt in a bag was there too, I don't know how to count it...it was from a former member of our Guild so it will be a donation quilt. It might be on the Design Wall Monday.  I have used a bit with cutting backing and binding for the Challenge #1 Quilt that I got quilted. I had to buy the backing so that accounts for part of the yards that were added..  Unfortunately, I'm UN-STITCHING the last row of the Panto so I can re-do it.  I cut the backing a bit short and tried to make it work.  Note to SELF- Don't try to make it fit!!!  I also cut backing and binding for the UFO #7  I need to quilt this month. That Binding and Backing fabric sure adds up quick.

I was really good this week, too bad I don't know how to count the yardage of scraps I've sewn into "bowties" for Bonnie Hunter's Leader/ Ender Challenge. I worked on my Word Play quilt and I can count my McCall's Quilt Design Star yardage used because the quilt top is Submitted now! Voting starts on Wednesday night at 10 PM MDT. My DH has given his "attagirl" to the quilt already.  He says he is amazed at what I can do.

The only fabric used was at the WORD PLAY Class this Wednesday.  We have the next week off from class to get all our words done then will have the final class on the 17th.  I have one more word to make. Pictures on Design Wall Monday...since I CAN'T show you the Challenge #2 Quilt that is taking up space on the Design Wall --- only 10 days until the BIG reveal!!!

 It was another good Mail week, but not good for the Stash Report week.  These lovely Civil War fabrics came from STITCHIN' HEAVEN in Texas.  They send a free Fat Quarter with every order.  I got this with the 2nd Gift Certificate from the Big Box from McCall's Quilt Design Star contest.  When the contest Challenge is done for me, I'm planning to catch up on my Civil War Block of the Week.

See the books I got from Amazon!  There's a Civil War Sewing circle book there by Kathleen Tracy that has more fun projects in it to make.  The other two books are the newest out from two of my new Quilt Novel Authors;  Marie Bostwick and Earlene Fowler.  I'm anxiously waiting for Jennifer's new Book The Wedding Quilt to come out in November.  I still haven't seen any of the quilts from the LINUS event that happened in Peoria, Illinois. I'll have to wait and read about the gender of the twins in November. Meanwhile, I have these new books to read.
