Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Volume 5

It's almost time for the Blog Tour for Volume 5.  I've been keeping my 12 tester blocks a secret for a long time and I can hardly wait to show them to my Blog readers.  5 of the 12 Blocks I tested are on the cover, not the actual blocks of mine. One of the Blocks shown on the front is from Melissa Corry from the Happy Quilting Blog.  The Blog Tour starts April 30th and goes through May 4th.  I'll have the button on my sidebar.

I just got my advance copy for being a tester and one to give away too.  It was a welcome sight to my bleary eyes after all my staying up late nights this week.

Finally Friday...

YES, it has been a very Long Week... I am so glad it is Finally Friday!
Today, after staying up way too far into the AM yet again, my Quilt Book on "My Publisher" is sent to be published.  With great joy I pushed that PUBLISH button this afternoon.  Many of the pictures aren't the best quality but the best I had to use at this time.  The list of mis-spelled words was long, it will be mis-spelled the right way in my book. I have many different spellings of names in my family and we get used to having our name mis-spelled.  I got to add pictures to the front and back covers. That was fun to choose which ones to put there.  Delivery is scheduled for April 30th.  Can we wait to see it- YES, we have to wait for good things sometimes.  And this is a VERY GOOD THING!  I figured that IF I didn't do it NOW, it would never get done. OK, now I can devote my time to doing what I really want to be doing---Quilting.

 I have so many tops of quilts just waiting to be quilted.  I NEED to get the Mega Quilter in it's rightful place before I get total buyer's remorse and call to return it.

Time is getting short on the wait to see all of my Volume 5 of 100 Quiltmaker Blocks to be shown.  This gives me something to look forward to. I have SOOO much to show that I can't show right now.

Design Wall Monday, April 16, 2012

Here are my 11 Farmer's Wife blocks all made for my Farmer's Wife Class at Thread and Bolts in April.  I have to stay ahead in case I get busy making other quilts.  I have my Blocks of the Month and bi-monthly Sampler quilts that I need to get caught up on.  Those New-FO's are calling to me...You know the saying, "So many Quilts- so little time." Just Sunday evening I was asked to possibly make quilts for a family in my Church.   My #2 son tells me I have to use my STASH before I die and I'm doing my best.  On my fridge is a magnet that says, "She who dies with the most fabric has happy relatives."  He says that magnet lies.  I'm still working on my Book of Quilts.  The deadline is at the end of April.  I keep thinking of more to write in there. I guess my Book of quilts will not have an ending-- the last page will have to say...to be continued.

Saturday Sew-in-WW Valley Quilt Guild

The Guild had a Sew-in today at the Blue Mountain Church where we meet once a  month. There were 7 ladies there today.  It was a good time to go and work on a UFO from last year that didn't get out of the tote.  Eddie Walker taught the class I took back in 2008 when I made my first Lone star and also the airport class when I started a 2nd one in Christmas prints.  Since she was opening the building for us, I asked her if she would help me with the corner squares and side triangles. This is UFO #4 for this year. That number hasn't been chosen yet, but I am closer to having it done anyway.  It' isn't perfect, I didn't take my big mat and rulers to trim it up so I could put the pieced borders on. Photo cropping helps a little.  Paul held it up for me so I could get  a 'straight on' picture.  I really need to figure out a hanging set-up to take pictures of my quilts, in case I am home alone and need to take a picture.

While there I made my SBS Rosebud block and 10 more bow ties.  That makes 133 for the Bow tie challenge. I came home, took a nap and then sewed the BOW for my SBS group and made the Rosebud block for the June FW set. The Rosebud makes 51 blocks for my Farmer's Wife quilt.  The color placement is a bit different on these two blocks. I found an error in the Marti Michell charts- #61 is listed two times-- chart 2 and chart 6.  If you are using the charts, cross off the one in chart  6, you only need one Northern Lights.

I thought I should use the Lonestar for Design Wall Monday. Oh well, I wanted to show what I worked on today though so here it is.  This coming week is Farmer's wife and I have a few more to make for May.  April Blocks are done and I've started on June now.  It feels good to be ahead on at least one project.

"Wash Day" Poem

I found the Poem I referred to in my last posting.  Little did I know I'd find it connected to a "Little House on the Prairie" Book HERE.  

“Wash on Monday,
Iron on Tuesday,
Mend on Wednesday,
Churn on Thursday,
Clean on Friday,
Bake on Saturday,
Rest on Sunday.”


I was right that "Wash Day" was on Monday.   I'm so glad that with our modern appliances we can wash any day we choose.   Matter of fact we have life so much easier than the 'olden' days, we should be forever grateful.
I just had to share since it was bugging me all week.  

Beds- Change for Springtime

Bonnie Hunter asked on Monday, "What's on your Bed?"  and put up a Linky party for us to share.  You can click HERE to see all the beds linked there.  Since I had Design Wall on Monday and yesterday I was busy with guild I had to wait until Wednesday.  That meant the Wednesday is "WASH DAY". Remember the poem that gives every day a specific Chore to do. I forget all of them but I think Monday was wash day.   I miss having a clothesline to hang my sheets and quilts on.   I have so many quilts- it is good to rotate them.  I have tried to make quilts for each season. I still have the Christmas-y ones to make. I'm showing two beds in this post.  My Upstairs and Downstairs beds are both decked out with two of my quilts that have been in the Linen closet.  On the left is my Marti Michell 2010 Block of the month "American Beauty" made with my collection of  Robyn Pandolph fabrics.  I like that this quilt is long enough to cover the pillows. I see sunshine coming through the window- YEA!  On the right is my Weekend Whatever #23 quilt from a Mystery "Purple Mountain Majesties" with Quiltaholics.  This patriotic quilt was completed in 2009.  I guess I've not made as many Bed-sized quilts lately.  I love the history with both of these beds.  The 1st was my parents' bed, the wrought iron frame was here at our house outside when we moved to Walla Walla. It reminds me of the beds I slept in at my Aunt's and Grandma's houses when I was much younger.   Enjoy all the fun bed quilts you see when you follow the link to Bonnie's Blog.  I still have a Mystery or two of Bonnie's to complete somewhere in my UFO's.

I have enjoyed using the techniques I learned when I took my "Word Play" class using the book by Toni Ricucci last year.  It is fun to choose a fabric for each one even if it takes me awhile to sit down and make them sometimes when "LIFE" happens.

I had to show my stacks of bow tie blocks in the box.  123 and counting. Just in case I lose them between now and July. Hahaha!  The Orange Plaid is my ode to Bonnie Hunter's Cheddar part of the this Challenge.  I mailed some of this shirt to her for her 50th birthday and have seen her using it in her 50th Jubilee quilt blocks. (the link takes you to her Blog post that shows some of her blocks with the orange fabric in them.)

Beautiful - EASTER Day

EASTER- 2012

It was a beautiful Day made even better with Family.  We had a great Easter Sacrament meeting with great talks about the Savior and how grateful we should all be for the "At-one-ment".  A reminder of the origin of the word brings more meaning to it.  I love the Songs of EASTER,  I was able to actually get out all the "Alleluias" without squeaking.  I heard my mother singing in my ear.  It was the 32nd Anniversary of my Father's passing picking grapefruit in Arizona.  I wasn''t saddened today- I have a peace that I will see him and my Mother again because of Jesus' Resurrection.  I had to take some pictures of the Beauty outside today- Even finding a Worm is a good thing to me- that means Spring!  Actually his big sister found the worm, we talked him into holding it... see how excited he is?

 Andy and NaDell's girls "posing" for Grandma in their Easter Dresses.  Abigail is wearing the one I bought for Elizabeth's 1st Easter, Olivia is wearing the Dress Elizabeth wore when Vincent was Blessed (just remembering, NaDell).  We were waiting for the rest of the guests to arrive for our Easter dinner.

4 Ransoms

 A family 'tradition' remembered almost too late- Olives on the fingers.  Colby shared some of his.  Abigail below ate hers before I could catch her with it on her finger.  She thinks Grandma is silly to put it on her finger.  Food is for eating- not for playing...her mom says.

 Joe and Kori's boys- Sam hugs his big Brother as I snapped their picture by the Daffodils.

We missed having everyone but as you could see the house was full.   The Paul & Mary Crowther family is scattered this year from Washington to Idaho to Colorado to Ohio and Cuba.
