Design Wall Monday- November 3, 2014

I played with my Siggy Squares on my Design Wall this AM.
I think I like it.

I'm late in Posting because I had to run an errand with these nice Sisters today.

We went to Yakima.
Had to show them where the BEST Hamburger is...
Minors!!!
I could only eat Half and we shared an order of the Yummy Fries.

I got the borders sewn on FINALLY!
This flimsy is ready now for the quilting!
I put this one #1 on my Goals for this month.

My Decorations for the Trunk or Treak
The rain let up just long enough for us to enjoy a bit of fun with the kids in costumes!
Glow in the Dark stars on a black piece of knit fabric clipped to the Trunk.
My 2 Grandsons pose with us for a Picture.
One is a Camo/Bow hunter, the younger one is a  Firefighter
Paul got off work in time to come to hand out the candy.
He's a "Candy Eater" (aka: NO costume)
I wore a bandand with my engineer hat and Sheriff's badge.
If I'd worn a quilt for a cape I could have been the Quilt Police, LOL
I'm holding a Skeleton head that lights up with changing colors.
It was a gift from Grandson in Kennewick.  Thanks To him!

I had put these Word Play letters re-arranged on a design board to take to the Trunk or Treak.
Opps... I left the board on the back porch.

SHAMELESS PLUG TIME...

I have one more day to work on the designated NewFO.

Jo & Nell's Bonnie Hunter UFO 2014 Challenge Update

It's Binding time for my Midnight Flight.
I took advantage of a good picture day to take more pictures of it outside and show off the quilting.
Close-up of the quilting on the scraps hidden in the blocks.

I love my hanging set-up outside to take pictures of my quilts.
Just a piece of  Conduit suspended by 'S' hooks and some drapery clips.
I'm very thankful for a nice step stool to reach and clip it onto the pole.

So...my quandry today is- How many colors of Blue Shadow Play are there?
The Binding strip on the left isn't enough to go all the way around.
I went to the LQS where I thought I had purchased the Border fabric.
Nope- wrong color of Blue. I even had a piece to compare it.
Sadly -No deal.
So I thought I'd just buy more of this Moda Swirl and bind it with that.
I had considered a scrappy binding using all of the shades of Blue...ummm- NO.
I must have bought that Border fabric out at my Quilt Buddy's shop.
She's not available right now to go out there and check so  I might as well call it done for now.
By the time I get all of the binding sewn on and the label added this quilt will have a
Total = 3,248 pieces!

Design Wall Monday- October 27,2014

I am late posting this AM, I just needed to SLEEP!
On my Design Wall today I want to show the quilt my DD #1 sent me.
I knew it would happen...
quilting
She sent me this pic from PINTEREST on October 9th.
Looks EASY enough.  She wants me to "help her make it"
If you know the pattern let me know.  I think I could figure it out but want to give the designer credit...
I really don't like Pinterest for that reason...
LOL I think I have that Hydrangea fabric, hahaha

I have nothing on the Quilting table so today is the day to remedy that!
We all know which quilt needs to go on there, I don't have to even show the picture...

"Betsy" did a good job helping me get my Midnight Flight finished for the Jo & Nell Challenge.
I have entered it in the Blogger's Quilt Festival HERE .
I'm So glad I finished it!
When I realized I don't have a Quilt with Warm & Natural to use this Winter.
I put it in this one.   I really like my Tuscany but am running out of it.
Guess what's going on my Bed?
The direct link to read all about it is HERE

It's a Rainy Looking Day and a MONDAY here!
I'm heading over HERE to see what everyone else is showing on their WALLS.
I'll link up Wednesday with Jo & Nell!

2014 Blogger's Quilt Festival- Entry #2- Scrappy Quilt

AmysCreativeSide.com
I had to finish this quilt to enter it in the "Scrappy" Category, HERE
It's dark and rainy outside so I had to take a few pictures inside.
I changed my border to include more of the Blue and Pink fabrics from the center
I put the "1st Test" block I made at the block party on the back.
There wasn't enough of the lavendar print so I added blue to the top & bottom and put the
block in the middle of the bottom.

2014 Blogger's Quilt Festival- Small Quilt

AmysCreativeSide.com

It's time again for the Blogger's Quilt Festival and I have to show off my
Red and White Quilt, of course.
I am entering it in the Small Quilt category HERE
It could have fit the Original Design Category too.

 It has a name now...

"Diamonds & Rubies"
Designed, Pieced and Quilted by Mary Crowther (aka: quiltingrandma)
42" square
Made with Red Shadow Play & Kona White.
Warm & White batting
Quilted with Signature Red Verigated Thread.

I started this quilt in June for the SewCalGal Red & White Challenge.
It didn't take too long to make it. Once I got started.
I finished the top just in time for the BIG Reveal September 30th.
Then I got it quilted and entered in the "Show It"  HERE in October.
I used EQ-7 and chose the 9-Patch Star block for the medallion center.
I changed how it was put together eliminating a few seams and the mitered corners.
You can read more about that HERE.
Here is a close-up of the center with the quilting that I did on my Viking Mega Quilter 18-8 "Betsy"

The quilt patterns are:
Lana's Freebie in the border squares in a square.
BDR Kim's Swirl in 3 sizes for the 3 red borders.
Chantilly Block #2
Windee 4 for the white space from Wasatch quilting.

I know this quilt would have made my mother very happy.  She loved the color RED!
It has been fun to show off on Facebook and spotlight it on my Blog again.
I think I need to make another one in my favorite color- Purple!
I hope you like it and will consider Nominating it for Viewer's choice October 24th-31st.
HERE is the link to Nominate your favorite 3 quilts.
& then Voting for it starting November 1st.
Thanks for coming to look, Comments are appreciated!

Bonnie Hunter UFO's- Jo & Nell 2014 Challenge

I'll be playing along.  I have a few to finish.
HERE is the link to my last year's Challenge post
Some of the same projects are still waiting for progress.
The Midnight Flight is closest to a FINISH.
I also have Double Delight a 2008 Mystery

 a BowTie  2011 L/E,
Blocks are sewn into 9 and sashing is cut.
Can't find the fabric to cut more sashing. The hunt is on...

I planned to use this for my 2014 L/E (opps, that didn't happen)

I have 24 blocks made so far.
I know I could use up some of my strips and squares from Scrap Savers totes.
I still have that bag of scraps to trim. :(

and a
2nd Celtic Solstice that I want to change to Cathedral Stars
Linking  HERE every Wednesday until Dec 3rd- after the Mystery Starts

Design Wall Monday- October 20, 2014

The month is half over and I have to see what still needs to be worked on from my October Goals

 October Goals
1-Catch up on A- Z for You and Me Blocks- need to make K-Z and put Center together. I made a few at Retreat
2- Work on Roma's DWR at Retreat Yep
3- Christmas Gifts for the Grandchildren
4- NewFO- Lamb Quilt (QM June 2014 issue)
5 - Quilt the Mariner's Compass RR for Cassie
6- Quilt the Red & White Challenge DONE

That leaves some Secret projects that I can't show, my NewFO and Cassie's Mariner's Compass.
I am anxious to make this even though it won't be for a grandchild.
I put it on my NewFO list before meeting Deonn at the Big Town Quilt Show in Midway, Utah.
I have the Accuquilt Baby Go and Half Hexigon Go die and can cut it out quickly if I can just stay home.

So for now the Mariner's Compass is back on the wall again.
I don't really have any excuses for not getting the borders on at Retreat
I left my Pinwheel blocks and tape measure at home though.

I can get it quilted this week if decide what to quilt on it soon.  I have all the stuff I need to do it!
Any suggestions for quilting?

New Mystery Fabrics

I haven't found the paint chips yet but I think I've decided on my colors for the
2014 Grand Illusion Mystery over at Quiltville.com

What do you think?
Since I really don't have any Turquoise Aqua in my stash I went with the Purple in it's place.
I found the Yellow and bought a big piece of the Black so I don't have the same problem as I did with the Easy Street Mystery.  It was way too BUSY with all the scrappy Blacks.
I will be able to use whatever size strips from my Scrap Savers totes that match these too.
I may have to take out the Purple piece with the yellow dot.
Now to just wait for the day after Thanksgiving now.

I picked up a New-to-me Quilt Book at Guild Mtg,
This book reminds me of my Quilt Mentor- Jo Fox.
I'm so glad I could bring it home.

FYI---The Voting is still going on over HERE for the Red & White Challenge Quilts.
Next Friday the Blogger's Quilt Festival Begins!!!

T is for Tennessee, & More!

I made the Tennessee Block for our Lotto at Quilt Guild tonight.
It will be fun to see the scrappiness of the blocks that get made this month.
I gave them all a Green square of fabric to use as an HST or a center square.

I made these 2 Spinning 4- Patch blocks in hopes of winning the  whole bunch.
 Carolyn F. won them,

The Raffle Quilt for next year was revealed tonight.
It is KING SIZED!
Tickets go on sale in January 2015- $1 each.

I had a busy SEW-ing Day.
I got the final border on my Globetrotting Block of the Month from Pat Sloan.
I had to go and buy more of the fabric to make the border strips.
I followed Pat's Directions and it fit just right.
You can see more versions of this BOM HERE.

Voting time has started over at SEW CAL GAL's Blog for the Red & White Challenge Quilts.
I'd love to have more Votes to WIN Prizes.
Voting goes until October 24th.
