Design Wall Monday- November 17, 2014

The month is already half over and I have made some progress on my November goals.
Thanks to a Hancock Fabrics 20% off total purchase and 50% off sale.

NOVEMBER GOALS
1- Quilt Cassie's Mariner's Compass RR quilt -On the quilting table
2- Work on more Loyal Union Sampler Blocks- YES
3- Sew A-Z Block of the Month Blocks, get to flimsy-  Not quite
4- Christmas gifts (no peeking)- fabric chosen and ideas ready to make

I made the Block of the Week that is due on November 21st.
G-2 Manger
# 54 of 121
I used my Marti Michell templates set B & D
There was a error in the book for measuring the dark Blue rectangles.
It said to cut 4 Rectangles 1.5" x 4 3/4".  I only needed 2 at that measurement.
EDITED: 2 of the Rectangles should be cut 1 3/4" x 4 3/4"
The EQ7 layout is getting full bit by bit.
I love the fabrics and playing with them in different blocks is so fun.

The Quiltmaker 100 Blocks- Blog Tour has started HERE.
I had to find all of my copies and take a picture.
I have extra copies of volumes 2,3,6, & 8

Blog Hopping! It's a Snow DayThing to do...

The Quiltmaker 100 Designer Blocks Blog Tour starts Monday HERE
It's their #10 Issue.  That's 1000 designer Quilt Blocks to play with!
It will be on Newstands November 18th.
I'll be Hopping.
Will you???

I hopped a few of the links on the My Stars: a New Traditions new Book Blog Hop this week too.  Very interesting quilts made with the "Illusions".
Today is the last day of that Hop.

I have spent lots of time this week on the 'Tis the Season Holiday Blog Hop looking for Christmas Gift ideas. HERE  is the schedule.
There's another week of this one. :)
I saw a few that I will be making in the next month!
Christmas is coming.
This is my backyard tree yesterday when the snow started falling around Noon.
We only got a couple inches.

I'm so glad I have a new book to read.

This will be my long term project starting next year.
There is only 90 Blocks and they are 8" finished.
I am leaning toward using my 30's fabrics that have figures on them.
I can fussy cut some blocks.  Lynn is planning to use Western fabrics.

My Midnight Flight Binding is all DONE!
The blue Moda Swirl won out.

I put Warm and Natural Batting in it and it is HEAVY.
This will be a great quilt on my bed this winter!

The Towel/Quilt Closet is all organized now.

I decided to put the smaller Quilts on the Top shelf that goes way up!

It's been a Busy, Blog Hoppin' Week

Between Heaven and Texas Blog Hop

Two Blog Hops started last Monday-
Marie Bostwick's New Book " Between Heaven and Texas" is having a 12 Day Book Tour and each stop includes a STAR Quilt Block.  Click on the above Image to go to the Quilting Gallery.  Michelle is hosting this Blog HOP.  The blocks are all so cute, I know I can't make them right now but I can tell you to not miss out on them.

I ordered a copy and it arrived today with a couple other Quilt Mystery Books that I can read while I rest my hand,  The Go Cutter hurts my hand when I try to use it also.  I'm trying to ice it and apply heat on it at 10 minute intervals.  It feels ok, then I try to use it and it hurts again. I think I better just take time to READ.

The Quiltmaker 100 Blocks Magazine Volume 7 comes out on MAY 7.  The Blog Tour ended today,  But you have until Midnight Saturday to enter to WIN a copy of this issue.  WHEW, I've been hopping every day to the 12 Designer's Blogs and Websites, but so far haven't heard that I've won a Copy, YET.  They've even added some SURPRISE Giveaways HERE.
There still time this week-end to visit and comment to WIN! Go check it out.  If I don't Win a Copy, I know where I'll be on Monday!  EDIT: I WON a copy from Robin.  Her blog is Found HERE.

I went to a friend's Yard sale and found a few cute books for Grandpa to read to the Grandchildren when they come to Visit this summer.  He loves to take them for walks to the Park, too.  Daring Grandpa has asked me to invite the grandchildren to come spend next Friday night to go and watch the lift off of the Balloons here in Walla Walla.  I'm game, but only if he has Saturday OFF to help me with all of them.
Here's hoping! We had 8 of them a few years ago and that was FUN.

While I'm plugging fun Blogs and Blog Hops, I have to add a LINK for the Utopia Boutique.  If you are still wondering what to get for your Mother or want to pass this link along to your Loved ones---HERE ya go!
Have a Great Week-end!

#1 is by Amy Rullkoetter  and is called Tunnel Vision.  Amy is the QM Person I sent my Evaluations and Tester Blocks jpgs to for Volume 6 Blocks. I chose similar colors to hers.  This was one of the last ones I tested, a fun block. It's on the Cover.

#2 is Melissa Corry's Block from Happy Quilting. It's called Shabby Spin. It is Raw edge Applique and Fusible.  Easy peasy. I used one of my favorite fabric lines. Love the Marble Swirl by Moda.

#3 is designed by Diane Bohn.  This one is Paper-pieced or Foundation Pieced.  I had fun finding different shades of the suggested color of fabrics to make this one. Another Cover Block.
